      Nice Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Mahorrla Control Clutter Method (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing one off guide for decluttering your home minus the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my good mate called Gray after many years got astronomical results with it.

    I'm only 27 secs into the video BUT, could you create a video about how you manage papers/paperwork as a minimalist? I've been on this journey for 5 years + still struggle with paper clutter.

      @@chelseaelizabeth2536 exactly!! there's an app to unsubscribe you from junk mail called "paperkarma". the first few pieces of mail are free to scan + then membership is $2/month. but for me, I also need help with all the other random papers that find their way into the house.

      I am on my 3rd-year minimalism journey. And especially i used to have a lot of ”paper clutter ”, books, etc... WHAT I DID WAS literally SCANNED everything! Even some books I can go back to them anytime I want . I categorized each scanned in files, and I put everything in icloud or USB! Now I am paper free/books free! ( if you want to buy a book you can now just buy digital books thru kindle. About important bills paper, I created files and added titles each file the category like bills, tax, etc.

    This is perfect timing! I've been struggling for YEARS caring about what people think of my clothing choices. Lately I've been trying to be more mindful and minamal with my clothing choices. I'm a very fussy person so I have to be specific of the materials I wear because my skin is sensitive.
    I lately have been trying to find my specific style while still being stylish for myself. Your last video was very helpful as well. It gave me so many new ideas how to style different outfits and how you can use multiple pieces for different outfits and that less is more!
    Thanks Sarah God bless you.
    P.s deep down I was hoping this was you decluttering because those videos are so satisfying haha.

    I literally just donated two huge lawn bags full of clothes, shoes, coats and purses. I have more clothes to go through but getting there. One thing I do is keep a tote bag in my bedroom and if I try something on and don't want to wear it or it doesn't fit, I typically put it in the donation bag.

    I used to have lots of bras, like in every colour you can get. But then I gain weight and have to buy new ones. And that was my way to start minimalism! I couldn't buy some cheap bras couse they don't fit me so I have to get some more expensive pieces and now I have only two of them, one black and one white. Suddenly I figured out that I don't need no more than this. And that's the way my journey began ❤ every of your minimalism film is very inspiring to me Sarah ❤ keep going and never stop ❤

      You could opt to have a "honeymoon registry" from a site like Zola, where your loved ones can give you $$$ toward the honeymoon. You then can buy exactly what you want, and you may figure that you end up buying less than you think you would want or need ❤

    I’ve never been a trend kind of gal. Back when flared jeans were cool, I was in middle school. I hated flares so much, but straight leg pants couldn’t be found. So I’d buy the flares and sew them into straight leg pants at home haha. I’ve always had a simple style. The craziest I’ll get is polka dots or stripes. I grew up watching TCM (classic movie channel), so I think I took a lot of my style from classic movies.

    I need to sort my clothes out but I am on of those with a fluctuating weight issue. I am in the middle of recovery from an eating disorder and I am learning the power of clothing. Just wearing that something that makes you feel good is amazing and can set you up for the day.

      I went through the same situation as you. A tip: get rid of all triggering clothes. Whether it’s triggering because it’s uncomfortable or might not ever fit you again, just let it go. Clothing held me back ALOT in my recovery when it never should have. Also, try and keep a closet full of comfy-ier clothes to wear while you get used to where your body will eventually settle ❤️ it can be a longer process than you’d think for your body to heal & settle. and then ease back into your normal style ❤️

    I'm obsessed with personality pieces and I rewear the same personality pieces enough to keep them. So the base pieces that I put them with are basic and versatile. This means that I can keep my personality pieces without having a big closet. Cutting down your closet doesn't mean giving up your quirky style!

    Thanks for this Video :) I have been watching all of your wardrobe related videos so far over and over again, because I really want to declutter mine right now and I am really struggling with it. Letting go of good quality pieces is harder than I thought it would be and somehow I don't really have a very specific style, so that I am just figuring out right now what items I like most. I am also learning right now that minimizing my wardrobe just takes times for me. I wish I just could do it overnight, because I lived with less than 15 items of clothing for 6 months while I was on a bicycle tour and I loved how easy it was to get dressed in the morning. Coming back to my wardrobe at home stressed the hell out of me. I am really looking forward to have such a minimized wardrobe as yours. Love your videos :)

    I love what you had to say here. Especially about us women getting ourselves bras that fit well, are comfy and flatter.
    I have one thing to add that maybe will give others the idea to try if it seems helpful. My husband and I have two closets in our bedroom. One is walk the size as you said “two steps and that’s it.” The other is tiny, but that’s the one I decided to claim. I’ve always been a minimal wardrobe person even as a girl. I’ve recently discovered that there are a few non clothing items I actually prefer to keep in my closet. They are: a drying rack, bags for washing delicates, a sweater shaver, a small sewing kit for repairs, and last a small sampling of some fabric swatch colors that look great on me. I’ve found that I’m the only one In our family right now that actually needs the drying rack and bags for delicates so it makes sense. Also, if my sewing kit and sweater shaver are right there I’m more likely to fix things right away. When a nice blouse or bra needs washing I stick them in one of the delicates bags and toss it in the hamper so it’s ready to go.

    Love this! I definitely have pieces that should leave, but I'm having trouble letting go. Have been continuously decluttering my closet though, trying to only save my pieces I actually wear and enjoy. This is a continuous work in progress, I have wayy too many clothes. Trying to actually find my style. Recently decluttered my jewelry and it felt great! Still have more to do but personally, I find decluttering best to do in waves, so it gives me a chance to really see if I use an item or not.

    I have a very fluctuating weight so I have a lot of clothes in a lot of sizes but I keep everything packed away that doesn't fit me in the present moment. When I open up my dresser/closet, all my pieces are things I love and that fit me perfectly. I usually have so few clothes in my closet that I can wear everything I have every single week. I go through my boxes of packed away clothes every month or so to make sure there's nothing more I could be wearing and to make sure I'm not keeping anything in there that I don't love and want to wear in the future.

    I have some pieces in my already-minimal wardrobe that are at the end or their lifespan. They aren’t in good enough condition to donate, BUT they’re in too good condition to throw away! I would love to see a video about repurposing these items! (Especially denim. He’s my biggest troublemaker.)

    • @Kath-Erina
      @Kath-Erina 4 года назад +2

      Yes me too. I like to sew a lot but nothing actually looks good from denim except jeans and jackets... :/ I keep them in a big box and... basically never use them except to patch my kids jeans lol.. the only thing they're good for is those little utensils baskets that you can fold the top over.. for little stuff inside drawers because they're just not very pretty...

    • @_commonthread
      @_commonthread 4 года назад +5

      If your jeans are 100% cotton, they can be recycled! I have also seen denim quilts that work well as picnic blankets and beach blankets since they are heavy and don’t just blow away or shift whenever you move. Denim can also be torn into strips and crochet into a rug. Have you heard of the Mending Matters movement? It’s not everyone’s style, but sashiko mending a pair of jeans can make them last much longer as well.

    • @_commonthread
      @_commonthread 4 года назад +2

      Also, Closet Case Patterns has a free pattern for a pouf, which you can make with any fabric AND stuff with fabric! So that could also be a good way to recycle any old clothing, just use it as stuffing!

    You’ve kept me company through my seasonal depression. It’s nice feeling as if I have a close friend that’s constantly keeping in contact, especially one that is such a wonderful Christian woman and a mama like I hope to be someday.
    Thank you, Sarah 😊❤️

    Ever since I moved onto a sailboat it forced me into a minimalist lifestyle. I can't accumulate a lot of things I don't need because I simply don't have room. Now I love it and will definitely keep it up when we eventually buy a house.

    yes!! I stopped dressing for fashion when I left my job in clothing retail. it's so freeing to wear exactly what I like (which happens to be jeans and t-shirts exclusively lol). I rarely buy new clothing and pretty much only thrift but rarely try anything on so I've accumulated quite a few things that just don't fit that I should just donate! but as a side note, I donated my expensive designer graduation gown today and it felt GOOD! Had it for 11 years, finally decided to part with it today!

    So I'm taking sociology this semester, and we had a project where we had to create a social movement, and mine was protesting the clothing industry! You and Delilah inspired me to do this and do the research, and I learned so much and I'm so passionate about this now. :)

    New subscriber. You are darling! I love your enthusiasm. I wore my hair short like yours when I had small children, it is so much easier.
    I am not a minimalist and never will be but so much of what you say makes so much sense. I think about how happy someone might be to find my things in a thrift store.
