    Hey Sarah, I was wondering if you would ever want to make a video on how to handle baby showers, wedding showers, birthdays, gifts from other people etc. when you are trying to keep things minimal? I'm not anywhere near having a baby or getting married but I've wondered about this before, and I thought you might have some good tips. :)

    • @janspence6010
      @janspence6010 5 лет назад +1

      You could create a registry for what you need and make it clear that anything else will be donated after 6 months (unless sentimental). The reasoning for waiting is that you might find that you need some of the things that you didn't think about. For example, I just didn't think about toys or books or comfort items for the baby (who's due tomorrow) but I probably will end up using some of those items lol. I just tried to get everyone to get the necessities. And don't repeatedly ask for the same things off different people. Don't want to many repeats

    • @kateg9437
      @kateg9437 5 лет назад

      Make a wishlist, and ask that people who want to buy something else run it by you first. Also, instead of asking for all things for newborns, ask for things for the first 6-9 months

    • @KAYELLEK
      @KAYELLEK 5 лет назад +4

      I honestly find registries and asking for gifts sooo trashy. Im hoping to get pregnant soon and wouldn’t have a baby shower. If my family and friends really want to do something, I’d say no gifts or to make donations to a charity of my choice. Thats what I did for my wedding because I don’t like asking for things,

    • @jenniesmythe8188
      @jenniesmythe8188 4 года назад

      Ask for booksnot clothes or toys.
      Ask for people to bring love and not gifts.

    • @totalrandomness4543
      @totalrandomness4543 4 года назад +1

      This idea of a wedding or baby 'shower' seems like an American thing? I've never seen one here. Anyway, I also don't like asking for things. I don't usually ask for birthdays or Christmases, or just ask for a small number of things i'd need anyway (like deodorant, toothbrushes etc). What really annoys me though is when my mother would by me LOADS for Christmas (half the stuff I really don't want) and then complain about how I have "so much, more than them" and I'm "spoiled" like dude I didn't ask for anything, if you want to buy me stuff anyway, go ahead but don't complain when I have "so many more presents" than you, that's on you.

    We definitely have more than this and I still call it minimal! For my 4th child, first baby girl.. I bought 2 wardrobes for her first year - one for spring/summer, another for fall/winter.. instead of having all different sizes I just start a little big. Stick to a color theme so the accessories match both seasons. And our outdoor gear is always gray/black it can be passed down ❤️

    Lucky for IVY for having a little sister. 😍
    All my clothes when I was a kid were litterally for boys. It's because I was the second child of 4 siblings at the same time the ONLY girl.
    My mom is VERY practical. My clothes were either hand me downs from my older brother or if I get lucky a new ones but still for boys so my 2 younger brothers could use it once I outgrow them. 😂

    Someday when I have kids, I want to crochet some key items like sweaters, leggings/pants, cardigans, and winter gear. I love being able to crochet and in addition to wanting to make these items for myself, I'd love to make some loving items for my future children.
    Seeing the pink handmade sweater made me realize how important visibility can be! I can definitely see the benefits of neutrals (easier to pair with outfits, more gender neutral) but I also now need to think about colors for jackets and hats that I can see from afar. Hmm...

    I intensely disagree with anyone saying any of your children’s wardrobes are not minimal. People must not understand the concept, which is ok. The few people I know with young children have literal totes full of clothes. If you had any less clothes you would actually be wearing through them faster considering how often they would need to be washed. But I love how you stay confident and true to what you’re saying despite people’s criticisms. I loved this little series so much I so look forward to dressing my future kiddos ☺️

    Love you and these videos! Just a suggestion...would you consider doing a video addressing how you guys do holidays and birthdays minimally?

    I’ve been loving these videos! It’s inspired me to try and start thrifting more, feels so much more rewarding when you find a gem in the thrift store!
    P.s I make videos too if you’re interested x

    Duuude! How on earth do you manage only 4 pairs of pants with a baby? Mine definitely would go through more than one pair a day at that age with eating, crafting, playing outside, etc. How do you keep them clean?

    I enjoy your new channel but i wish you would do a new kid wardrobe for each kid too. Currently trying to go more minimal with my older children who are about Ivys current age. But i was inspired for my kids who are in or near these age ranges.
    My girl loves dresses. Four wouldn't be enough. She shuns shirts and only wants dressings and leggings. 😂 but I did go off some of your brand recommendations and found some great stuff! Thanks

    SO cute!!! I am curious how and where you keep items that they have grown out of? So basically your hand me down system!

    I think you do a great job being mindful of your young kids having both enough clothes to have variety and necessity, and also keep in mind that thy are probably going to grow quickly! I am not a mom, but I know for a fact my mom probably did similar practices when we were young. We thrifted a lot and it wasn't because we were low on funds, it was because we were kids and we weren't style wise and gave our clothing the what for because we were active. All of our clothes were play clothes pretty much, no point in paying full price for our clothes for daily life. I think more people should what you do and not put such a big emphasis on style and excessive clothing, and let them understand their style as they get older. You provide for them really well, and I think they will learn great practices from you as they grow up.

    Thanks for sharing. You might be able to add dots of hot glue on the bottom of the feet of the onesie to make them slip free.

    When would you say you start investing in a wardrobe? We’ve been living off of hand me downs from family and neighbours for our youngest (only daughter after two sons) and she’s 3.5m and has changed sizes like every 3 weeks... I want to go minimal but I haven’t bought anything yet so the cost is right but I don’t know how to part with things I already have when everything looks so nice! Especially the formal fun pieces ❤️ It’s -35 in our Canadian city today and grateful for all the fleece and layering pieces as we have to head out of the house 🙈.
