I love how you both compare and contrast the two countries from the perspective of an expat in the making, excellent video! I cannot think of anything you missed. Thank you!
Thanks so much, Lee! Both places are awesome, but Vietnam is king for lifestyle options and market size. Really, a fairer comparison is Thailand and Vietnam, but we felt it is still worth discussing as both are very popular. Cambodia is a very small country compared to Vietnam, but it offers a lot of stability and peace of mind around visa status. That being said, if you have capital, Vietnam is fine. Cambodia is a lower cost for long-term visas but offers much less lifestyle options compared to Vietnam. Both are pretty awesome difficult to go wrong.
I love how you’re being honest. Yes, Cambodia has been moving so fast recently, as you know we went through difficult times during the Khmer Rouge era. With 60% of the total population made up of young people, we are striving to develop this country at a faster pace.
I prefer Cambodia to Vietnam and Thailand, actually. Sure, there are issues, but Cambodias's open-mindedness, with foreigners, is a huge asset. It's far easier to deal with visas, opening businesses, etc. Also, I love ABA compared to banks in Viet Nam. I came to Cambodia many years ago, and compared to my first visit every time I have come, it's gotten better. Infrastructure has improved a lot! I feel like Cambodia is less nationalist and xenophobic than some of the neighbors, and in the long term, that will be an asset. I know a few foreigners who did very well for themselves there. I enjoy my time whenever I am in Cambodia. PP has come a long way. I just hope that they don't let China build more ugly condos because the city has a beautiful esthetic and I hope it will be preserved.
Danang, Vietnam seems best overall, if you need to teach english in a walkable, beautiful, clean air beach city. Also has 10 vegan restaurants within a few blocks to the beach.
Pay is really low, though, and it's competitive market for any goof jobs. I think it's good if you're qualified and can get into a good job, but it's not like Saigon or Hanoi interms of pay and market size. A lot of teachers don't stay in Da Nang because they can't make enough money.
"Itchy feet on the cheap" youtube channel agrees with you. He lived in Vietnam for 2 years and has now been living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for almost 2 years now. He said he likes living in Phnom Penh, better than Vietnam. He did not like the motorcycle honking culture in vietnam. Too noisy.
I did around 5 years in Saigon, and I am in Vietnam now getting a free TRC, but my plan is to just use it to come and go for business. I like Cambodia better in many ways.
Luckily I've got a spousal work permit exemption. I'd never want to work here in VN and be tied to one employer. Work culture here is too cutthroat to deliberately give them this much power over your legal status.
It's definitely gotten worse. In this respect. I am getting a free company from my business partner, so I will be able to come and go, but I still feel more chill in Cambodia.
Well, I am not 100% sure we will stay here. We may be getting involved with a despensary in Thailand soon. For now we are here but not sure what's Next actually
Do you think it’s harder to get a work permit in Vietnam if you leave, then come back? I’ve been living in Vietnam for almost five years now on work permits, but I’m thinking about living somewhere else for a few years and then returning. Have you ever seen someone struggle to get a WP in Vietnam after being away for a while? James
Hey guys, great content, thorough and super informative...quick question, I'm planning on making my way to PP in around November, just wondering any recommendations on residential/ rental areas where or which neighborhood would you recommend over others...thanks a mil, Nic
Hey 👋 we do hourly consulting. If you'd like to get some advice on real estate in PP, anything you do with us hourly can be applied to larger services.
My thought sometimes is on healthcare. Vietnam has at least a handful of decent hospitals between its 2 big cities. There are some pleasant small cities in Vietnam where there is not one good hospital and you might as well throw on a coat and see patients yourself. Taiwan, great medical everywhere. China, if you speak Chinese and know what you're doing. But what happens if you need to see a doctor in Cambodia?
Thanks for your videos, they are real and to the point, _ Question for you, Which one is better for a teacher Job _ > Cambodia or Vietnam> ? Best place to make more money >?
Vietnam, no question as long as you have documents and you don't work for shady people. Teaching is a big business in Vietnam. It's one of the reasons my services have a high value. A lot of shady employers but higher salaries than most of SEA.
Lots of gyms, brother, but if you introduce something unique, it can definitely work. I can help you with the contacts for getting legal. Feel free to pm me om the fb fan page.
Hi 👋 Jeremy. Nice to meet you. We have all our contact information in the description of the video. Facebook fan page is always a good way. Links in description below, but if you want to search just same name as the channel
Could you guys talk about the issue of weather? It sounds like Southeast Asia is like a sauna most of the time. How do foreigners cope with the very high levels of humidity and heat in Cambodia or elsewhere??
How reliable is the electrical infrastructure in Vietnam and Cambodia considering people need air conditioning all the time?? And the need for smooth functioning elevators? Besides self employment etc., what about retired folks over 65??
How do you compare Phnom Penh to Danang? I'd never go to Saigon because it's just like New York, and I've had enough of that. Even compared to Nha Trang or Hanoi?
This means that unless you are paying, take your questions elsewhere because you aren't getting any charity from me. It's funny how you assume I should tell cater to you. Who the f#%k are you?
@@rebornabroad Gosh, talk about paranoia. I don't care whether you respond or not. There are plenty of viewers who may have something substantive to say.
Hey 👋 it's not amazing, but it's not the worst. It's fast enough for our purposes, but depending on your business, it could be a pain sometimes. It's manageable for my purposes
Legally just means you get a work permit. If you get a Work Permit your good. How that happens depends on who you know. That's all I am saying. It's Vietnam. There is always a way if you know who to work with. For how much longer I don't know, but this school year, we have gotten native speakers without degrees jobs, and they have gotten work permits. 😏
Not at all. Air pollution and cancers are more of a concern. So is food production and standards. Ny immune system is like the locals now. After so may years.
Hey brother, all our contact information is in the description. We have a Facebook fan page as well with reviews at the bottom of the description. You should see all the links. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

The best thing about Cambodia is that the law is friendlier and it is easy to start a business.

I could, but as you're not a customer so what you want means nothing to me.

Cambodia has open door visa/banking policies - while Vietnam has NOT. But Vietnam is easily 30% cheaper & better.
