Maybe the reason why this song was cut because the producer doesn’t want the actress who play Cynthia or Heidi having a breakdown from singing this song eight times a week.. idk just guessing

"Cause every day, you pulled a little more away" -- my mom said a similar thing to me back when I was really deep in my depression. This line means a lot to me :)
"We went to battle ever evening after dinner" that line strikes me. This happens to me an my parents every night and morning. Sometimes I get to school in tears, and I don't know whether to wipe them or keep em there and maybe have someone ask if I'm ok.
What if this was placed right after So Big/ So Small, but instead, this is Cynthia's solo. We see Cynthia, broken-hearted because of Evan and the lie, sitting in Connor's room remembering when they were happy and Connor was a child. We see her holding onto all of the stuff he had, Ninja turtle nightlight and everything. Even though they wanted some of the stuff to be Evan's, why not all as Connor's. Heidi sings about the memory of Evan's dad leaving in So Big/ So Small, why not have Cynthia sing about her memories with Connor when he was young and happy in the past? Just a thought I had. Amazing song though, i love listening to the bonus tracks all the time. "Part of Me" and "In The Bedroom Down The Hall" are my two favorite songs. Love this show to death and I aspire and I'm working my hardest to one day be up on that stage as Evan Hansen.

Cynthia finally starting to heal from her son's death and accept the truth of who Connor was even without Evan being next to her,
Heidi singing about how her son is pulling further and further away from her and she's more lost and distressed then ever.

Break in a Glove, then Evan yelling at Heidi at how he feels unloved and neglected by her (and secretly feels like a burden to her) before leaving for the Murphy's, {that whole nuclear blow up after Heidi finds out he's staying at the Murphy's still happens later of course}
and storms out past a teary Heidi before she can properly reply.
At the Murphy's Cynthia is packing the boxes with Zoe. Then notices Connor's old sweater.
Then this song and the whole Cynthia singing making peace with Connor without Evan's help, while Heidi sings about Evan is pulling further and further away,
and she's more lost and hurt and scared for Evan then ever.
And yes, Cynthia is singing while Zoe is still there, and at the end of the song, Zoe hugs her mom, but Heidi sits all alone...
Then we lead into Only Us and so on

My brother is 3 years younger than I am. He's rebellious, adventurous, everything. He tries everything, from jumping on the sofa to running down slopes and yelling dirty stuff in public areas. The only problem is he blames it all on me, and I never tell my parents when they come and scold me. It has been 8 years since he first did this and not a day goes by without this happening. But I don't complain- I hold it inside me silently. Because I love my brother despite all he does to me.
He is what I have. I always say I hate him for annoying the he'll out of me but I could never actually hate him. I still remember when we were children and we would play together happily, but that all changed when he turned 4. What happened back then? I really don't know why he changed, but he became more rude, he didn't like me fussing over him. He started to yell and hit me all the time. Get me in trouble although I never did anything. But I never said anything, because I could never hate him despite everything, everything he did.
The struggles of being an older sister. I had to live with the knowledge that my brother whom I treasure _so much_ is farther from me every day. He is so far away.
All I want is to have that innocent boy I once knew back. Is that so hard?
I tried to give him all I could but he never let me in. I don't know why. I love him and I want the world for him but held so far away. I love this song because I feel it so much. Yes, it's sad. I cry every time I listen to it but I still do because it's amazing. But most of all it reminds me of myself.
Enoch, if you ever see this, I love you. More than you will ever know. You deserve the world.
And I can't hold on much longer, I know that in my heart. All i want to do is make rings right. My depression makes it so hard for me and I really want to let go.
This is why I love this musical. I don't believe in a lot of the things it says, I can't believe it because of my depression, but every time I listen to it it gives me this illusion of hope. Hope, that I might be alright and I might reconnect with my brother one day.
I know it will never be possible.
But at least I tried.

I just want to say, that you have immeasurable value. You've got such a beautiful, loving heart, And I hope your brother realises how lucky he is to have an amazing sister like you. I don't really know what else to say... I've never been in the same situation as you before, so I don't know what It's like. Just know that there is someone out there who sees you, and who acknowledges that what you're going through must be Really, really tough. Harder than what a lot of people go through. Keep holding on. You WILL be found. (I'm sorry if that was a little cheesy, but It's true.) I don't know if you believe in God, but I do. Know that I'll be praying for you.
Again, you are such an incredible human being, and I hope you get the best life can offer.
I think youre being too soft. Dont just take it and wait. Tell your parents. Discipline him. Make him human. The more you love him more the reason to do it. Help him go the right way. People rarely realize on their own that theyre wrong. Same for when theyre told softly. Would men take it seriously if women talked about voting right over a cup of tea and a teddy bear? Or if women just waited for men to realize by theirselves that hey maybe the women deserve right too. Maybe not the best comparison, but really sometimes impact does the trick. I dont mean beat him up, just crack down a little harder on your control. What he should do and what he shouldnt. Probably your parents should be the ones doing it but you can help. Hope your sadness gets better too.
+) the reason he changed is that hes grown. Hes grown out of being an innocent dependent child, like most humans do. He wont go back and thats not a problem. Hes just getting on with his life. The real problem is if he stays this way and never grows better, into a decent being, like he should. The person has to improve for the relationship to improve, especially since you are a decent being. A really nice one. People change. Dont forget that.
Depression can be hard! Your so strong to not only take on that battle, but also the one with your brother! Little brothers are annoying! But some siblings can just be flat out mean! It means a lot that you still love him even though he's been so rude to you! All I hope is that things get better for you and that you hold onto that illusion of hope until it becomes a reality! 💖

Ok so I realised something.
"Anything to make you happy, anything at all."
In the song they talked about physical things the boys had, the stars and the nightlight. But the boys didn't need that stuff. They wanted it. They tried to make the boys happy with physical stuff, but I think all Connor and Evan needed was true love from their parents and that was the one thing they didn't get.
Both of them had to deal with their sons committing suicide, the only difference being
Evan's attempts didn't end in his death and so Heidi got lucky in having enough time to realize and rectify her mistake.
this is highkey my favourite deh song to exist. the emotion, the lyrics. Best p&p song imo
I already knew that this was a cut song back when Evan was still played by Ben. I loved it, especially the chorus, cause I found it so sad. It always breaks my heart and I get a lump in my throat. I'm so happy they are actually making it an uncut song here
Unabashedly Purple same here, I remember when I first heard it, I was listening to Pandora but was on the app. And I was like, “hey, this songs like it could be in Dear Evan Hansen.” Then I looked and was like oh my gosh it’s a cut song. Then I listened to it about 5 more times after that😂 And I would always say, “wow, my favorite Dear Evan Hansen song its the even in the show”😂
Ever since I first heard this song, I’ve fallen in love. Especially the way it slides down in “the anger in your eyes”
I think every generation of Heidis and Cynthias should make a recording of this song and release it so I can feel infinite carnations of the emotions this makes me feel. My favorite song from all of DEH, the songs that made the show and not.

i wish this wasn't deleted,it's so beautiful on how it shows how the mother feels after what happened but on a more personal level.

I know this sounds pretty silly, but this song saved my life tonight.
without getting too deep into it, i've been struggling, and had intended to do something about it very soon but, i've been on a DEH kick lately, and this song is absolutely the one above all others that gets a very emotional response from me, without fail. My mother is very similar to Cynthia and hearing her part in this song, and I cant stop picturing my mother in her place if i went through with it, I couldnt do that to her. So thank you, its silly, for sure, but this song definitely stopped me in my tracks for a while at least, I think i'll try to find something to live for again.
Nothing that saves your life is ever silly, please remember that. Hope you're doing better.

I've loved this song since it was first released, JLT and RBJ are just so incredible and so moving in their performances
There’s only 9 dislikes. That’s saying something. This musical is so important to this generation and it’s made such a difference to so many people and it’s incredible. The writers and cast members make it so magical and these songs that didn’t make it to the show itself are still fantastic and important to the story’s development. Completely amazing DEH. Thank you.

god, I love this song SO MUCH. It makes me so emotional, I tear up almost every time I sing it. I really relate to the lines, "we went to battle every evening after dinner...we fought a war where no one walked away the winner, 'cause every day you pulled a little more away". My parents and I are almost constantly fighting. Our family has a huge history of mental illnesses, but my mother thinks that just "forcing yourself" to have motivation will work, and my father once said that "executive dysfunction is just another word for lazy". I can't put into words how much I love and relate to a lot of the songs in DEH. I just... thank you.

Of all the songs that didn't make it into the show, I strongly believe this one most deserved to remain! I almost hope some day they reinstate it. It adds so much to the show, and I believe also ticks all the boxes that other deleted songs were trying to reach at.

Where was this song originally supposed to fit in to the show? I think that it would fit pretty well after "Good for You." Heidi reflecting on all the things she's done for Evan, feeling the pain of him finding another family while still realizing how much she cares about him. And Cynthia, facing the world's blame for Connor's suicide, remembering everything she did to help him.

Imagine if this took place of so big/so small and it’s Heidi singing to Evan and Cynthia sitting in Connors bedroom with the sweater in her arms as she just looks around. I know that it wasn’t supposed to be I’m the so big/ so small part, but can you just imagine how painful that would be for the audience and the actors:( sorry just a thought.

I love love love this song. I almost wish it was put in the song instead of Anybody Have a Map. I love AHAM? however I think this song shows more of the struggles, especially for Cynthia. It shines a light on her grief, which is something we don't see much in the actual show. And I understand why that is, the show is more focused on Evan's story. But I love this song anyways and I think it should've been in the show.

Its about a boy and his terminal illness. I won't get too deep but like Evan, he often lashes out onto his mum with less than pleasant words. However, Emma, our mum, doesn't scold him knowing he doesn't have much longer. She doesn't want what could be her last moment with her son an argument. It's hard though, he doesn't tell her anything anymore and she wishes for the past, where it was so much simpler. You can tell that this is at least partially inspired by DEH, subconsciously I'll have you know. haha idk wanted to share this xd

It doesn’t fall anywhere, obviously, it was cut, but if it were to I’d imagine after To Break In A Glove or right where Too Big/Too Small is.
Omg Cynthia's part though I almost cried prop sly because I cry whenever someone talks about Connor
I really love this song. Sad that it didn't make it because this song lends gravitas to Cynthia's character who is merely looked upon as a perpetually sobbing mother. Inspite of being one of the main characters, it's disappointing that Cynthia is a tad bit underdeveloped in the musical. But even then I lOVE deh.
