I absolutely love The Doors. They are a Top 10 band for me. The bluesy psychedelic sound, Morrison's hypnotic yet equally lush and menacing voice, his fascinating lyrics. But I get why people don't like them. Edit: My ranking 1) The Doors (5/5) 2) L.A. Woman (5/5) 3) Strange Days (4/5) 4) Morrison Hotel (3.5/5) 5) The Soft Parade (3/5) 6) Waiting for the Sun (3/5) 7) Other Voices (2/5) 8) Full Circle (2/5) 9) An American Prayer (1.5/5)

Strange Days Strange days is not a popular album, and usually not so well ranked as the debut or Morrison Hotel, but to me it is the most consistent one, with an overall dark moody psychedelic feel. The Doors have been my favorite since about 12 when I bought the 2CD Best Of, so it was a little tough to hear some of your opinions and rankings on this, but appreciate them nonetheless. I have always deeply connected with them, and later in life came to appreciate each member's contributions. They were/are so unique, and very American - for whatever that means, not sure how to articulate it. Morrison Hotel and Soft Parade are my two favorites atm.
I also bought that 2 CD "Best of" as my first introduction to The Doors and it was great! But then when I delved deeper into their catalogue, there was so much gold to find. It's not often that happens for me. Usually, when a band puts out a "greatest hits" album, the songs they didn't include are decidedly mid (ahem... looking at you, Eagles!). Not so for The Doors!

Love these breakdowns. I go back and listen to the band's albums that you rank. I's been fun little trip listening to some albums I haven't listened to in a while.👍👍
Hi guys. Working my way a bit haphazardly through your listographies - really enjoying them. In regard to The Doors' influence, you might want to check out The Stranglers, an English band from Surrey whose original line-up was very popular in the UK and also did pretty well in Australia and parts of Europe. Having denied it initially, they later admitted that they were quite heavily influenced by The Doors, most evident through the work of their keyboard player, Dave Greenfield (who, sadly, died of Covid-19 last summer). Although they broke through as part of the UK punk scene, they were a bit older and more musically adept than their peers, and the original four-piece line-up (10 studio albums of rankable quality) remain one of my favourite bands - easily in my top 30. Thank you for the lists. Looking forward to seeing what you tackle in the future while I continue to catch up.
I love The Doors! Here is my list: 1. LA Woman- I am no singer, but this is my all time favorite sing along album. I love every track. 5 2. The Door with Jim where a great band, my favourite, especially songs such as The End, When the music is over, the Soft Parade and many others. No one put the energy into music like Jim did with his vocals, and the great lyrics. Absolutely Live is my favorite album. The Doors are an acquired taste and not for everyone.
This was fun to listen to. For me, without going back and studying exactly which songs are on which albums (since I can never remember), my list would be: 1. The Doors (probably) 2-6 the other albums with Jim 7-9 the albums post Jim
My favourite Doors albums are the debut and LA Woman. The issue I have with the ones in between is that no matter how many times I listen to them, I can never remember the songs - the titles, how they go, anything about them. In one ear, out the other. Nice discussion guys.
1 Strange Days 2 debut album 3 LA Woman 4 Waiting for the Sun 5 Morrison Hotel 6 Soft Parade 7 all the rest tied. Strange Days is their psychedelic lp with the best carnival atmosphere. The debut is their objectively best album, hands down, but to me Days is my sentimental fav. Even the Doors thought Days was second best along with LA Woman
@@TastesLikeMusic yeah, I get you - the debut is monumental, hands down the best debut ever along with Hendrix. Amazed at how confident these two debuts are. It would be my number 1 but Strange Days was the first Doors for me so more sentimental, but so atmospheric. I got the reissued 45 RPM audiophile vinyl pressings of Days and LA and they blow your socks off, so as a proper listening experience (which they didn't quite get the on first time pressings) these two are sparkling.
1. LA Woman 2. The Doors 3. Morrison Hotel 4. Strange Days 5. Waiting for the Sun 6. The Soft Parade 7. An American Prayer 8. Other Voices 9. Full Circle
6. LA Woman 5. Morrison Hotel 4 The Soft Parade (the title track is fantastic!) 3. debut (at as high a level as the following 2 but not as well produced and Light My Fire and The End, I've just heard too much) 2. Waiting For The Sun 1. Strange Days
6. LA Woman 5. Morrison Hotel 4. Waiting for the Sun 3. Strange Days 2. The Doors 1. The Soft Parade Last time I did a ranking of these albums, The Soft Parade was last place.
Great to see The Doors and Morrison Hotel in the Top 2. I agree with the entire rank other than swapping The Soft Parade and Waiting For the Sun. Always good to see Other Voices and Full Circle included.
I definitely rate Soft Parade higher and LA Woman. Off the top of my head, a top 5: 1. The Doors (Classic with amazing songs throughout) 2. LA Woman (title track, Riders on the Storm, Love Her Madly, good stuff) 3. Strange Days (title track, Love Me Two Times, When the Music's Over) 4. Soft Parade (title track, Touch Me, Tell All The People, solid album IMO) 5. Morrison Hotel (ROADHOUSE BLUES!, Waiting for the Sun, Indian Summer, amazing 1-2 opener) Honorable mention for Five to One, GREAT TRACK! I just rediscovered these guys after many years and they rule. They were doing stuff in the late 60's that reminds me of Deep Purple. Their music was really diverse and a lot of it rocked. I would not call them a "proto metal band" but some of their stuff scorches. Great band that I encourage anybody to discover today, in 2024.
I love the Doors. I actually like some elements of the post- Morrison albums but it's obvious there is a gaping hole in the band without him. I like a lot of their live stuff too. Thanks guys.
I have never listened to the Doors that much. I can not rembember my parents to ever listended to them at home. I'm very glad discovering und enjoying them now a lot.
I got The Doors > LA Woman > Strange Days > Morrison Hotel > Waiting For the Sun > The Soft Parade > Other Voices > Full Circle. The debut is one of those rare 'all killer, no filler' albums for me
Kramzer's list is dead on. ✨ IMO, that's the righteous, accurate ranking. 🚪 Marc p.s. one thing though, the song "The Soft Parade" contains a pretty badass musical section.
My list goes 1. The Doors 2. Waiting For Sun 3. Morrison Hotel 4. LA Woman 5. Soft Parade 6. Strange Days All the albums are amazing but if I had to rank them it would be this.
Haven't heard any of the releases after Morrison's passing, I'll have to give them a chance. 6. Morrison Hotel 5. The Soft Parade 4. L.A. Woman 3. Waiting for the Sun 2. Strange Days 1. The Doors (debut)
My worst-best the doors albums of all time. 9. Full circle 8. Other voices 7. An American prayer 6. The soft parade 5. Morrison hotel 4. Strange days 3. Waiting for the sun 2. La woman 1. The doors
Stay in the moment. Be whole. That's exactly what makes The Soft Parade so great. The album runs like a soldier, as if conducted by Sir Eliot Gardiner. Of course there are the bigger songs on the Doors' other LPs. Hardly any of their other albums are so well rounded.
Ill do the 7 I have listened to. The main 6 + An American Prayer. I do want to make it clear, I dont hate any of these albums. I love them all being totally honest. 1. Waiting For The Sun 2. The Doors 3. Strange Days 4. L.A. Woman 5. The Soft Parade 6. Morrison Hotel 7. An American Prayer
The Doors are, definitely, one of the most original and, at the same time, subversive bands ever. The word "manacing" is SO much fitting for this band. I like their unique chemistry, specially at their prime in the beginning. Part of their discography I can't rank, though, because of Morrison's absence. 6 - The Soft Parade 5 - Waiting For The Sun 4 - Morrison Hotel 3 - L.A. Woman 2 - Strange Days 1 - The Doors ("The End" is, by far, their best song!) I don't know if you have done episodes for these bands, but I suggest incorporating some non-English speaking bands... Such as Mutantes, from my country. :)
The Doors (perfect debut album), L.A. Woman (Robby's best moment), Strange Days (very similar to their debut, just a bit slower), Morrison Hotel, (roadhouse/peacefrog/maggie great, the rest is soft rock), Waiting for the Sun (too psychedelic), The Soft Parade (overproduced).
I wish you guys would do one of these on The Tragically Hip. One of my all time favorites band. Gordon the lead singer has passed on so I dont think they are together any more.
I like the concept of a band being too like itself. Someone once told me the problem they had with the Beatles is that they're 'too Beatle-y'. It would have been fun to have heard Jason talk about The Doors.
Maybe someday we’ll do an episode where we talk about bands that we don’t like and share some thoughts about the bands covered in episodes that we sat out. -Jason
Well done. I disagree with the order (LA Woman is my #1, Soft Parade is #6, the ones without a breathing Morrison are travesties), but I enjoy that you guys generally liked this band. They're definitely in my top 10 overall. The "epic" songs are definitely something you have to be in the mood for. You can't be in halfway with those songs!
For me, the first 2 albums are the best by a lot, with both making my 1967 top 5 and Strange Days edging out the debut (I think “When The Music’s Over” works a bit better than “The End” and the darkness overall feels more convincing). “Light My Fire” is my favorite song of theirs, though. At the bottom, Other Voices may be the most consistently mediocre album I’ve ever heard, but I think the lows are worse on Full Circle, and An American Prayer seems to suggest that Jim Morrison’s poetry outside the context of actual songs is mostly just stupid. 1. Strange Days 2. The Doors 3. L.A. Woman (this was my #4 for awhile, but I like the title track more than I used to) 4. Morrison Hotel 5. Waiting For The Sun 6. The Soft Parade 7. Other Voices 8. Full Circle 9. An American Prayer
My favourite Doors record is Best of the Doors....I only have LA woman which is very good....and the BBC documentary on it is a great watch.....but only encouraged me to stick with best of because it's ace all the way through!!! A great hits band for sure
My DOORS top 10 is a bit predicatble. On top is the debut album THE DOORS followed closely by LA WOMAN and STRANGE DAYS. All 3 absolute classics! Almost as good is MORRISON HOTEL with WAITING FOR THE SUN and SOFT PAARADE being a bit lesser albums but still crying to be heard.
1. The Doors 2, Strange Days 3. Morrison Hotel 4. Waiting for the Sun 5. LA Woman 6. The Soft Parade I was a teenager when the Oliver Stone movie came out, and that’s when I started listening to them. Their debut is in my Top-50 of all time. #2 would be in my Top-100. #3-4 would be in the Top-150. I don’t care much for Soft Parade and I think LA Woman is their most over-rated.
7, 8 and 9 - haven't heard the last three, and kind of don't feel like it 6 - "The Soft Parade" 5 - "Strange Days" 4 - "L.A. Woman" 3 - "Morrison Hotel" 2 - "Waiting For The Sun" 1 - "THE DOORS"
Love the doors. 1. The doors 2. La woman 3. Morrison hotel 4. Waiting for the sun 5. Strange days 6. Soft parade Dont care about the rest. Greatest song riders on the storm. Nice review soft parade never number 1 Steve from liverpool BEACH BOYS LIST NEXT
I was 17 when The Doors came out. In my opinion they never produced a bad song. I can listen to any Doors album and get a different mood from each one.
Nice list, as always. For me, a very good band, though probably not in my top 20. I know using the word "interesting" is typically not a great thing in rock music, but they really were. For my list, I did not include An American Prayer. For me, this should've been called An American Cash Grab. Just pretentious and unnecessary. Other than that: 8. Other Voices. Wretched. I was too young to remember when this came out, but I can only imagine the universal shrugging of shoulders and shaking of heads when it did. 7. Full Circle. Slightly better. But slightly better than #8 isn't saying much. 6. Strange Days. Hard to repeat their classic debut. In hard rock/metal terms, this would be like Van Halen II compared to Van Halen I. But that's just me. 5.The Soft Parade. Wishful Sinful is great. Touch Me, even better. Overall a pretty polarizing record, but holds up well. 4.Morrison Hotel. Very confident record. Peace Frog still one of my favorites. 3. Waiting For The Sun. I wanted to rank this higher. I should be terribly sick of Hello, I Love You, but nope. Still great. Love Street, same. 2. The Doors debut. I'm so torn between this and my number one. It will never get old. 1. LA Woman. I can't think of a band with better bookend albums (obviously not counting the post-Morrison debacle). Just fantastic.
Not To Touch the Earth was definitely a great Heavy song ( though it does seem like it's incomplete ) , I love Unhappy Girl from Strange Days . My least favorite is easily the Soft Parade , it comes across as a bit experimental , and alienated from the other albums. I lean towards their weird music , more than the pop and blues . Fortunately I have never heard the post Jim Morrison material . This video certainly didn't inspire me to go out and buy them. I do however enjoy American Prayer , as it is equivalent to a whole album of the song The End ( always wanted that song to last another 25 minutes ) . That along with Pink Floyd - Ummagumma are both brilliant when you want to get in that strange place hid within your mind . I love the Celebration of the Lizard the long song that includes the incomplete Not to Touch the Earth . I would have liked to see Hello I Love You replaced by Waiting For the Sun , and Celebration of the Lizard included to make Waiting For the Sun the album it should have been . Hello I Love You would fit the mood of Soft Parade much better than Waiting For the Sun . As it is I believe the Doors debut , Strange Days , and Morrison Motel to be the best albums ( LA Woman just has too much Blues for my tastes ) . I would put the 3 I mentioned as all equal to each other as the Doors most consistent , and engaging body of work
Interesting and unexpected. I rate the first album and LA Woman as head and shoulders above the four others. I've never listened to the post Jim Morrison material.
I have the six Morrison albums plus a compilation and a couple of live albums. The only two I tend to play unless I'm going through an intense Doors period are LA Woman and the compilation.
Back when I had almost no knowledge of this kind of music, I used to think that all of the Misfits and Danzig songs were sung by Jim Morrison because of how similar their voices sounded. 😂
Always loved the Doors. Their unique sound & provocative lyrics created an intoxicating mix. Over the years I've encountered a fair number of people who can't stand them. I assume it's mostly due to all the stories about what a drunken lout Morrison supposedly was. I've read negative stuff about Jimi Hendrix & John Lennon too, but I don't let it keep me from enjoying their music. Human beings are flawed but they can still produce wonderful art. #1 The Doors. #2 Morrison Hotel. #3 Strange Days. #4 L.A. Woman. #5 Waiting for the Sun. #6 The Soft Parade. The post Morrison albums were just a sad cash grab.
1. The Doors; 2. The Soft Parade; 3. Morrison Hotel; 4. LA Woman; 5. Strange Days; 6. Waiting for the Sun. I think the critics missed the point of The Soft Parade, which is a concept album about man's rejection of God, and his descent into hell, as epitomized by song The Soft Parade. I think the Doors wrote songs like The End, When the Music's Over, and The Soft Parade because of Jim Morrison's fixation on God, death, and hell.
Not a big fan, but they're kinda fun. Definitely prefer the earlier, more psychedelic stuff rather than their bluesy shit: 1. Strange days 2. The Doors 3. The soft parade 4. Waiting for the sun 5. L.A. woman 6. Morrison hotel 7. Other voices 8. Full circle 9. American prayer
Morrison Hotel is my favourite, opening with my favourite Doors song , Roadhouse Blues . The only song I don’t like is Land Ho ! Their most overlooked song ? The wonderful Hyacinth House . My favourite of their epics is When the Music’s Over . I’m not a fan of The End , or Alabama Song , which keeps the debut lower down my list . The rest of it is great . Thanks !
While Jim Morrison had a very singular style, I wouldn't say the group didn't influence the sounds of others. The Grateful Dead and Tom Waits both took a lot from their playbook.
Jason, where were ya? Were you serious about The Soft Parade? Or were you just bustin' their chops? I love The Soft Parade, but never knew anyone else that did, hahahehe. Title track is GREAT. "everything must be this way". So true.
my ranking 9.an american prayer 3/10 8.other voices 5/10 7.full circle 7/10 6.morrison hotel 7,25/10 5.LA woman 7,5/10 4.waiting for the sun 7,75/10 3.strange days 8,25/10 2.the soft parade 8,5/10 1.the doors 8,75/10

The End is one of the greatest songs of all time
It's my favorite song from the doors
I agree.
@@therealmomo8033 Same here.
The greatest
No, it isn’t. It’s just a bunch a nonsense rambling that even Jim Morrison admitted didn’t mean anything at all.

4 The Soft Parade (the title track is fantastic!)
3. debut (at as high a level as the following 2 but not as well produced and Light My Fire and The End, I've just heard too much)
2. Waiting For The Sun
1. Strange Days
6. LA Woman
5. Morrison Hotel
4. Waiting for the Sun
3. Strange Days
2. The Doors
1. The Soft Parade
Last time I did a ranking of these albums, The Soft Parade was last place.
Soft parade is great. Not my favorite, but wildly underrated. - Joe
Great to see The Doors and Morrison Hotel in the Top 2. I agree with the entire rank other than swapping The Soft Parade and Waiting For the Sun. Always good to see Other Voices and Full Circle included.
My 6
6. The Soft Parade
5. Morrison Hotel
4. Strange Days
3. Waiting For The Sun
2. L.A Woman
1. The Doors
I definitely rate Soft Parade higher and LA Woman. Off the top of my head, a top 5:
1. The Doors (Classic with amazing songs throughout)
2. LA Woman (title track, Riders on the Storm, Love Her Madly, good stuff)
3. Strange Days (title track, Love Me Two Times, When the Music's Over)
4. Soft Parade (title track, Touch Me, Tell All The People, solid album IMO)
5. Morrison Hotel (ROADHOUSE BLUES!, Waiting for the Sun, Indian Summer, amazing 1-2 opener)
Honorable mention for Five to One, GREAT TRACK!
I’m definitely a certified Doors hater, but this was pretty interesting! Good job guys 🤙🏼
Yo igual los odio
I love the Doors. I actually like some elements of the post- Morrison albums but it's obvious there is a gaping hole in the band without him. I like a lot of their live stuff too. Thanks guys.
I think Strange Days is their best album.
My favs:
6 Waiting For The Sun
5 Strange Days
4 Soft Parade
3 LA Woman
2 Morrison Hotel
1 Debut
My Top 6:
1. The Doors
2. Strange Days
3. The Soft Parade
4. LA Woman
5. Morrison Hotel
6. Waiting For The Sun
1)The Doors /Strange Days/morrison Hotel/L. A Woman
2)Waiting for the Sun
3)the Soft Parade.
I have never listened to the Doors that much. I can not rembember my parents to ever listended to them at home. I'm very glad discovering und enjoying them now a lot.
Son muy malos men, evitalos
I got The Doors > LA Woman > Strange Days > Morrison Hotel > Waiting For the Sun > The Soft Parade > Other Voices > Full Circle. The debut is one of those rare 'all killer, no filler' albums for me
Kramzer's list is dead on. ✨
IMO, that's the righteous, accurate ranking.
🚪
Marc
p.s. one thing though, the song "The Soft Parade" contains a pretty badass musical section.
Thanks guys. I'm only ranking the six. 6 The Soft Parade. 5 LA Woman. 4 Waiting for the Sun. 3 The Doors. 2 Strange Days. 1 Morrison Hotel.
My list goes
1. The Doors
2. Waiting For Sun
3. Morrison Hotel
4. LA Woman
5. Soft Parade
6. Strange Days
All the albums are amazing but if I had to rank them it would be this.
Debut, Waiting For The Sun and Strange Days are the only ones I like. Thanks for sharing guys!
You know that "mano a mano" means "hand in hand" and NOT "Man to man", right? 😄
Haven't heard any of the releases after Morrison's passing, I'll have to give them a chance.
6. Morrison Hotel
5. The Soft Parade
4. L.A. Woman
3. Waiting for the Sun
2. Strange Days
1. The Doors (debut)
Don’t give them a chance. Run far away from them. - Joe
They're decent - don't listen to Joe, despite his good ranking of the Morrison albums.
6. The Soft Parade
5. Waiting for the Sun
4. Morrison Hotel
3. Strange Days
2. L.A. Woman
1. The Doors
Good list
Waiting for the sun does have my favorite doors song with not touch the sun.
Earth*

1.Strange Days
2.The Doors
3.Soft Parade
4.L.A. Woman
5.Waiting For The Sun
6.Morrison Hotel
Morrison Hotel is my #1 because it was my first Doors album. And, no long tracks.
My worst-best the doors albums of all time.
9. Full circle
8. Other voices
7. An American prayer
6. The soft parade
5. Morrison hotel
4. Strange days
3. Waiting for the sun
2. La woman
1. The doors
I think Other Voices and Full Circle have some excellent music and some of their best instrumental work.
Stay in the moment. Be whole. That's exactly what makes The Soft Parade so great. The album runs like a soldier, as if conducted by Sir Eliot Gardiner. Of course there are the bigger songs on the Doors' other LPs. Hardly any of their other albums are so well rounded.
1. Debut
2. La woman
3. Strange days
4. Morrison hotel
5. Soft parade
6. Waiting for the sun
Don't care about the others
Ill do the 7 I have listened to. The main 6 + An American Prayer. I do want to make it clear, I dont hate any of these albums. I love them all being totally honest.
1. Waiting For The Sun
2. The Doors
3. Strange Days
4. L.A. Woman
5. The Soft Parade
6. Morrison Hotel
6 - The Soft Parade
5 - Waiting For The Sun
4 - Morrison Hotel
3 - L.A. Woman
2 - Strange Days
1 - The Doors ("The End" is, by far, their best song!)
I don't know if you have done episodes for these bands, but I suggest incorporating some non-English speaking bands... Such as Mutantes, from my country. :)
It's their best song, but not by far.
Mmmmm disagree. - Joe
-Jason
Hearing Jason vent about the Doors would have been both infuriating and great at the same time! :)
I remember some of American Prayer sounding pretty cool musically
Great review. Thanks guys.
LA woman is basically a live album. I first heard it 1971, blew me away and should be No.1
It disappointed me in 2020. - Joe
By then there was no way to cover up Morrisons' descent into alcoholism.
1. Strange Days
2. The Doors
3. L.A. Woman (this was my #4 for awhile, but I like the title track more than I used to)
4. Morrison Hotel
5. Waiting For The Sun
6. The Soft Parade
7. Other Voices
8. Full Circle
9. An American Prayer
Interesting listing. I should do the Doors myself.
Surprised you haven’t already!
Your intro music reminds me of "Your applications failed" by Roxy Music (it was on the b-side of the UK version of All I Want Is You).
1. The Doors
2, Strange Days
3. Morrison Hotel
4. Waiting for the Sun
5. LA Woman
6. The Soft Parade
I was a teenager when the Oliver Stone movie came out, and that’s when I started listening to them. Their debut is in my Top-50 of all time. #2 would be in my Top-100. #3-4 would be in the Top-150. I don’t care much for Soft Parade and I think LA Woman is their most over-rated.
My Obligatory Ranking:
1.Strange Days: 9.2/10 :
2.Waiting For The Sun: 8,5/10 :
3.Morrison Hotel: 8,2/10 :
4.L.A. Woman: 8/10 :
5.The Doors: 7,7/10 :
6.The Soft Parade: 7,5/10 :
7.An American Prayer: 5,75/10 :
8.Full Circle: 5,5/10 :
9.Other Voices: 5/10 :
7, 8 and 9 - haven't heard the last three, and kind of don't feel like it
6 - "The Soft Parade"
5 - "Strange Days"
4 - "L.A. Woman"
3 - "Morrison Hotel"
2 - "Waiting For The Sun"
1 - "THE DOORS"
The Doors first album is top 10 album of all time for me. The rest are ok but that one is incredible.
Great band
Debut album is my favourite album
Love the doors.
1. The doors
2. La woman
3. Morrison hotel
4. Waiting for the sun
5. Strange days
6. Soft parade
Dont care about the rest.
Greatest song riders on the storm.
Nice review soft parade never number 1

BEACH BOYS LIST NEXT
I was 17 when The Doors came out. In my opinion they never produced a bad song. I can listen to any Doors album and get a different mood from each one.
They really grew on me doing this Listography. - Joe
Nice list, as always. For me, a very good band, though probably not in my top 20. I know using the word "interesting" is typically not a great thing in rock music, but they really were. For my list, I did not include An American Prayer. For me, this should've been called An American Cash Grab. Just pretentious and unnecessary.
Other than that:
LA Woman is in my top ten favorite albums.
I would put the 3 I mentioned as all equal to each other as the Doors most consistent , and engaging body of work
Not a Doors fan but the debut is so perfect.
agree with your number one Doors album
The best Doors albums 1)the Doors/Strange Days 2) Morrison Hotel/LA Woman
Interesting and unexpected. I rate the first album and LA Woman as head and shoulders above the four others. I've never listened to the post Jim Morrison material.
I have the six Morrison albums plus a compilation and a couple of live albums. The only two I tend to play unless I'm going through an intense Doors period are LA Woman and the compilation.
Back when I had almost no knowledge of this kind of music, I used to think that all of the Misfits and Danzig songs were sung by Jim Morrison because of how similar their voices sounded. 😂
Strange days is their best album?? Wtf, also when the musics over is the best closer... bruh how is it too long
Always loved the Doors.
Great stuff. New subscriber!
Thanks for subscribing, Mr David Langley!
@@TastesLikeMusic Loved the review.
Not a big fan, but they're kinda fun. Definitely prefer the earlier, more psychedelic stuff rather than their bluesy shit:
1. Strange days
2. The Doors
3. The soft parade
4. Waiting for the sun
5. L.A. woman
6. Morrison hotel
7. Other voices
8. Full circle
Thanks !
LA Woman-#1 Morrison Hotel #2 The Doors #3
While Jim Morrison had a very singular style, I wouldn't say the group didn't influence the sounds of others. The Grateful Dead and Tom Waits both took a lot from their playbook.
Morrison Hotel for me. The debut is pretty strong, but The End is pretentious (but it is effective in Apocalypse Now). LA Woman another strong album.
Frankly Full circle isn't that bad, there was definitely a lack of complex lyrics, but the instrumentation is still great.
Strange Days was a big turn around for me. Before I heard it I was a "Bubblegummer" new word there.
All the Doors albums are very good to great.
Jason, where were ya? Were you serious about The Soft Parade? Or were you just bustin' their chops? I love The Soft Parade, but never knew anyone else that did, hahahehe. Title track is GREAT. "everything must be this way". So true.
Contrarian is Jasons' middle name.
My favorite doors album is "astral weeks".😊
