Asphalt Legends Unite Review - The Final Verdict

- Asphalt 9: Legends has been around since 2018, first launching on mobiles and PC and garnering attention for its visual fidelity. It's received extensive support through the years, including console ports, but Unite is perhaps its biggest yet and a pseudo-rebrand of sorts.
Featuring improved visuals, a new track in Singapore, overhauled multiplayer modes, a new PvP mode called Team Pursuit and crossplay, Unite purportedly offers a lot for long-time fans. Unfortunately, the matchmaking in its "ranked" modes is subpar, while Team Pursuit is a poor imitation of Hot Pursuit from the NFS series.
Coupled with annoying progression systems, egregious monetization, horrendous rubberbanding and a repetitive Career Mode, Asphalt Legends Unite feels like a drag. Its arcade gameplay and visuals may prove enticing - plus it's free-to-play. However, the real meat of the experience is incredibly lacking when it's not actively trying to aggravate you.
This is the type of game you’d love as a 5-7 year old back in the day
We need a good free-to-play racing game. There's tons of ways to do it with fair monetization, these companies are just greedy as hell.
Rennsport might be good but it might get taken over by micro transactions
@@BreadNoBrimi think the way to go from here on out with free to play games is just go the helldivers route. (its not a free to play game i know) they do it the best. just release packs of stuff you can get for like ten bucks and it never goes away and you can unlock it all at your own time.
CarX street, yes there’s monetization u can go crazy with but the online is segregated by class, and u can change your tire pressure and every tuning attribute to drift freely or be competitive in grip racing
Need For Speed World SparkServer, Need For Speed Carbon Battle Royale, Need For Speed Most Wanted (2005) Pepega Mod I would say are the top free to play games at the moment 😊 Plus from not so distant past Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Need For Speed Payback (outside of gambling upgrading system) has very smooth combined from all games control of car system cars really have weight.
I remember Asphalt used to be a good racing game..

Gameloft found their golden egg in asphalt! Used to love their N.O.V.A series 1 to 4, still holding out for a proper sequel thats just a story single player thing till now. Even loved their Dungeon hunter games 1 to 4, their modern combat games too 1 to 4, 😅 wow am starting to see a trend..And I really really loved Wild Blood, such an experience on a mobile phone, that made my days. But now....
Collecting cards to get a car is the worst thing ever

cars are cool but at the end of the day it's just a mobile game and the races are waaaay too short to actually be fun and honestly I think a 4 is being very generous I'd give it 1.5 simply based on the nice cars and the nice graphics

I'm playing This game for almost a year now and i can say this is an honest and precisely review.
Once the whales try out non-free racing games, they'll realize how much fun they could've had with multiple games with all cars unlocked for a fraction of money they spent to unlock one car in Asphalt
The funny thing is asphalt players always complain but never stop playing the game, it's annoying to see
It's not just asphalt players, it's basically most gamers.
Had my niece give it a try after the unite update. She was like, "Can I buy a car?"

As a player who has been playing this game for almost 5 years now, I’ve come to know the ins and outs of this game
Whatever you do, as a new player don’t download this game, the progression system is really rigged and it will take you years just to be able to properly have fun or get actual decent cars
If you’re unable to get your hands on a good account pretty early on you won’t have any motivation to push further since racing slower cars just isn’t that fun
Especially since asphalt 9 became asphalt unite, everything has gone downhill
The amount of bugs in this game is insane, tens or even hundreds of bugs make it very unenjoyable or just unplayable
The optimisation is absolute shit and even tho the max graphics looks good, most top players play with lower graphics anyways because the effects are blinding
Pretty much the only stuff we do as higher end players is have fun in private races (with infinite fuel), try to push limits with shortcuts and world records or jst mess around in multiplayer and tle
This is not supposed to be the case since multiplayer is supposed to be rewarding to play but honestly, the milestone rewards are trash, the season ending rewards are also very underwhelming and the amount of toxic players is just not fun
Overal, trash game, don’t play it and don’t invest 5 years and thousands of hours in the game like me 😃
Edit: another thing is the fact that this game is so p2w, pretty much every recent special event is absolute dogshit
For some cars you need (and I’m not joking) hundreds or thousands euros/dollars just to unlock ONE car that’s not even that good (shoutout to the devel and lvn) just for Gameloft to nerf the shit out of the car later on or just give it away for basically free a year later
This is the case with all games if you are playing it 3 to 4 years after its release. The progression system is marred by crazy monetization. With time, all companies try to gradually make it P2W. So i usually don't play games unless i start playing it in the first one or max 2 years since its release.
Why does the game need knockdowns? Just race instead of taking out your bratty, unchecked aggressions on the rest of us.

I don't know how to explain it but the game feels like its doing too much, I miss how sleek and sharp the Asphalt 9: Legends UI used to feel, everything felt like it had a place and it was just so well put together, this has gone far too cartoony if that makes sense

In an alternate world where asphalt 8 airborne wasnt ruined by greed and the 9th sequel is actually fun and enjoyable
I might have an unpopular opinion but this is the best update ever. Everything improved such as multiplayer and more garage levels. Idk why so many ppl complain about this
There are bugs in this game.
I don't know about other platforms but in android there is a lot problems occuring while playing.

It's relative. You upgrade from a shit game to a slightly less shit game and you'll be happy. Us who have standards look at this game and pity it.

In my opinion Asphalt 8 was the last time I enjoyed playing a Asphalt game. I tried Asphalt 9 and IMMEDIATELY put it down. It was so boring for me and I couldn't enjoy the game at all

It does slightly reminds me of Burnout, I am only going to only do the Career Mode, I don't plan on sticking around for the Multi player

@Delsin42 Blur was a combat racing game with real car companies. It was made by the team that developed the great Project Gotham Racing series. Unfortunately, the team was shut down after Blur sold poorly.

Also, exactly as Disney SpeedRun, races are super brief, you cant RESTART a race, MTXs everywhere..it sucks.

The game UI is too complicated. It should be simplified and purches are too expensive. Graphics are good and gameplay is not that bad.

Who else is having issues that the game constantly crashes on Xbox. Or the screen freezes for 10s or more. Or showing sync or any connection issues. This game sucks now. Never had any of those issues before.

Honestly might be true. R* really took advantage of the live service nature of GTO. The variety of different kinds of racing activity blows everything else out of the water. Which is insane when you consider that, first and foremost, it's a third person shooter, and yet does racing better than a majority of full blown AAA racing games in the last decade

The question is, "Is it better than whatever else is coming out?" Which is an easy yes, unfortunately. The closest otherwise are the Forza, Crew, and GT series, which are mostly middling.

I had an asphalt for the gba when i was young so i was curious because i keep seeing this and i have been getting the platinum for pretty much every nfs, crew, and dirt game i can get on current gen. However this looks like garbage even more garbage than what nfs has turned into.

I played Asphalt 8 a LOT back then, and it was really good, but the game was destroyed over the years with each update. But 9 was awful from the beginning, so yeah.

The Chinese version of the game is a better experience, and it still doesn't have the crazy unite graphics, so the barrier of entry is lower, too.

CarX racing is way more advanced than this shitty repetitive game . The gameplay mechanics is the same shit and card system they use is a very aggressive way to get more money out of gamers . I have a lot of cars in carX street but asphalt system is bullshit . I started playing it in 2018 and deleted it in 2020 . I heard of this new update and reinstalled . It's the same shit with better graphics end of story .
Gameloft are lazy as fuck now open world racing games are now possible on andriod devices.
