I don't think he is bcoz Cell wasn't even half serious at the early going of their fight, unlike when he fought goku, the warm up is way more intense than his fight with super saiyan Gohan. He is soo underestimating Gohan that's why Gohan managed to bleed him. Sure he is almost as strong as GOku that's why even Vegeta was surprised to see him power up but stronger than mastered super saiyan Goku. I don't think so.
Toriyama's style of story telling is very predictable, especially when it comes to showing who's powerful than the other character. If Super saiyan Gohan was stronger than Goku he would've demonstrated it in a more obvious way but he didn't coz he was about to introduce the Super Saiyan 2 which Gohan will achieve eventually.
Also they were more optimistic when Goku powered up than when Gohan powered up, they were amazes of how strong Gohan became but not as optimistic when Goku fought Cell.
Krillins story is very similiar to Gohan's I believe at some point in the dragon ball series Goku (or roshi?) points out to krillins that even though he isn't as strong as Goku his growth had been incredible as well, people love to dunk on him but krillin is a human being who became stronger than his master in a short amount of time the only thing that holfs him back is his genes.
Only people who don't know argue
Anger issues.

You missed out another huge dropped hint. When Goku powered up in front of Korin, he stated that it was about half of his power. Gohan didn’t believe that either. He thought it was far less than half. People simply do not get how much of a monster Super Saiyan 2 Gohan was compared to everything else up until that point.
@KereTista-km9ck did u not watch the video or read the manga or watch the show? He is sent trying to fight. He quite literally never swung at cell til ssj2. Ant say he got no diffed. Especially when he tanked everything cell threw at him for the entire fight while not fighting back.
@KereTista-km9ckcell used more power against gohan and held back a lot against goku. when gohan powered up even cell stated he was stronger then goku the same with all the z fighters. and with gohan having no problem keeping up with goku and cell he even thought goku wasn’t trying that’s how weak goku was compared to gohan. goku even stated this himself cell used more power and needed his true speed to even touch gohan. also gohan wasn’t trying he literally stopped mid fight he had no motivation and when he did try for a split second he kicked cell to the ground and caused cell to start bleeding and he was struggling to stand.
@Kere Tista did u even read the manga and watch the show Gohan didn’t wanna fight Cell Gohan was stronger but Gohan literally didn’t wanna fight which is why he told Cell that he can still stop fighting because it’s meaningless Cell pushed Gohan button til he became Ssj2
@Kere Tista Gohan was only fighting Half heartedly against Cell as SSJ1. He wasn't fighting willingly and wanted to end the fight peacefully. Gohan only started fighting seriously when he went SSJ2.
@KereTista-km9ck I never said cell used his full power against gohan, but he literally powered up more against gohan. the cell that fought gohan couldn’t even touch or damage him until he used his true speed. gohan had no motivation he stop mid fight. but when he did try for a split second he kicked cell to the ground. and made him start bleeding and he was struggling to stand.
This video needed to happen. It is absolutely ridiculous the amount of times I've had to explain this. The problem is that SS Gohan has at least two states, suppressed and angered.
Yea i agree but didnt Gohan always have a anger power boost? 😊
@@stephano2996 we aren't actually talking about a 'rage boost' here, but a pacifist passive self suppression.
Gohan is holding back because he doesn't want to hurt anyone, Cell included. He has enough power, he's just not using it.
@@priestesslucy3299 same thing happened during the beam struggle.
Gohan was so afraid going all out would blow up the earth he held back until he saw an opportunity Shere Cell couldn't push back
The most telling is that Cell had absolutely no response to Gohan releasing it all in that moment
People seem to ignore that Goku told Gohan he only thought Goku wasnt going all out against Cell because he was comparing himself to Goku, who he was much stronger than.
I am incredibly shocked people thought Goku was stronger than Gohan in ssj
People just like to hate on Gohan
You can always count on Goku fanobys to come up with something like that. They also actually think Goku was as powerful as full power Perfect Cell and that Gohan was winning as SSJ2 only because "Goku showed him how Cell fights".
I'm not that surprised people would think that, their fights just presented themselves differently. When I remember Goku vs Cell I think of a high octane fight where both sides struggle to overcome one another (even though Cell was obviously sandbagging a little bit but that doesn't matter because he still looked like he was trying hard) but when I remember SSJ 1 Gohan vs Cell I think of Gohan being little more than a punching bag that also makes pain sounds
Goku put up a much better fight bcuz Goku loves to fight. Gohan was stronger but bcuz he didn’t go all out like Goku did, it’s easy to see just based on the battles. A lot of people forget Gohan is half saiyan and doesn’t have the thirst for battle like a full saiyan.
The reason Goku is misinterpreted to be more powerful is because from a viewing standpoint Goku performed better against Cell as a MSSJ/Grade 4. Gohan's battle was him holding back and not actually attempting to really fight with Cell as a SSJ
This should be obvious considering Cell ACTUALLY used his full speed against SSJ1 Gohan, something he never needed against Goku. Gohan was dodging Cell's attacks - same attacks which were connecting against Goku. In fact Cell himself acknowledged that Gohan was a worthy replacement for Goku just after fighting him for a short while.
What? When did that happen? Cell only went full after Gohan turned SSJ 2. Don't post stuff based on the dub cause sometimes, they just add stuff that is not there.
@@juliocabral6949 Someone doesn't know the meaning of the word "speed".
@@_Seru_ Dude. That thing you wrote there never happened. You mean when he grabbed him? That was nothing.
@@_Seru_ Nah you’re statement is correct and I’d dare say if Gohan was fully into the fight a ssj1 full powered Gohan would’ve won that fight. Gohan is a really smart and calculated fighter and seeing as to how Goku managed to completely blow off his upper-half. The narrative is there that Gohan was not only much more durable than Goku but that was just much stronger at the time. A full power perfect Cell was nowhere near comparable against a ssj2 Gohan. Gohan toyed with him and it’s only due to Cell’s regenerative capabilities and body’s survival instinct that he survived Gohan’s attacks as a suppressed ssj2. After he spit up 18 Cell acknowledges this fact and it’s made apparent. A full powered ssj 1 Gohan Kamehameha would’ve obliterated Cell but the narrative wanted to build up Gohan’s dormant power and thus did a perfect job in delivering this one.
@@juliocabral6949 It's time for you to read the manga.
It’s a shame that Gohan in this form never fights cell without the mental nerf. It would’ve made for a more interesting battle to see two fighters close in power.
There is a good chance that Gohan could have killed PC without the mental block as ssj.
@@derekclawson5707 I don’t think so. I think PC would’ve won if Gohan never went SSJ2. Remember cell only powers up to 100% when gohan turns ssj2
@@2FINE4YOUBABYGIRLyes that’s true, gohan was about 75% of full power pc! So he needed ssj2 which makes me wonder about spc lvl compared to gohan!
What gets me is the people who think Gohan only gets 2x stronger after going ss2. Or just as bad is people saying he just got a rage boost for the fight. No, Gohans hidden power that he was only ever able to use through his rage boosts was finally controlled and added to his normal power and then he went ss2 ON TOP OF all that.
Rage Boosts are always temporary.
The reason Gohan seems so absurdly more powerful in SSJ2 isn't a rage boost stacked ontop of SSJ2, all his rage did here was trigger SSJ2.
What you're seeing is Gohan actually using his true power, alongside SSJ2.
SSJ1 Gohan didn't want to hurt Cell. He had no killing intent, he lacked a warrior's spirit (and can you blame him? He was a 9-10 year old child). That was his weakness.
This is never shown or even stated. Gohan being 2X stronger in SSJ2 makes perfect sense. Goku was nearly equal to Cell and Gohan was even stronger than Goku. You only need to be 1.25X stronger than your opponent to dominate them in Dragon Ball (as shown in the Namek Saga) meaning Cell was less than 1.25X stronger than Gohan. Gohan going SSJ2 would make him at LEAST 1.75X stronger than Cell which would allow Gohan to destroy Cell like he was doing.
@@priestesslucy3299 SSJ 2 should've been kept as the form the sayians transform to when they get a rage boost
It was a tough pill to swallow find out that Goku wasn’t holding back. Thing about Goku, he’s always had a mysticism about him. If he says Gohan is stronger than him, who are we to not believe him? Goku is seldom wrong about anything. Goku had it planned out since before they even went into the Hyberbolic time chamber.
He’s wrong all the time
That’s what made it so great, it was shocking when he said that.
Goku is not the type to lie
He wouldn’t lie about Gohan being stronger
Yeah, he's pretty blunt when it comes to measuring peoples power. Flat out told Piccolo that he'd get slammed after he came out of the time chamber and told Vegeta to his face that he's stronger 😅
@@crimsonking4151On dbz he was rarely wrong and most of his "dumb decisions can be argued to be also rational, for example when people thought Goku was being stupid in throwing a senzu bean, you can argue that he was actually trying to feed off Cell's ego, so that Cell would lower his guard down and toy with a Gohan that's half assing in order to unleash Gohan's full power.
Most of the time in DBZ Goku was the one who was smart, it was his idea to go to namek, it was his idea on how they cornered Raditz into a corner, it was his idea on where they could trap the androids into a fight they cannot escape, he knew they cannot beat Cell regardless so he lets 17 and 18 get absorbed and gambled Tien and Piccolo's life, and etc...
It also helps to know that Goku never had his potential unlocked by Guru, only Gohan did. So that's why SS1 Gohan would have been more than a great sparring partner for SS1 Goku in the time chamber. Goku went pretty far without ever getting his potential unlocked by others though, he would unlock his potential all on his own
There’s no difference between Gohan getting his potential unlocked by Guru vs Goku from the divine water.

I don't think enough people give Chichi some credit when it comes to how powerful Gohan is. She may have only wanted Gohan to become a Scholar but what makes Gohan so powerful is the strong human emotions he inherits from her. I mean think about it, when Chichi gets mad literally all the Z fighters are absolutely terrified of her lmao. It's her very strong human emotions that superpowers Gohan's Saiyan cells and makes him crazy strong. Even from the very beginning vs Radditz, Gohan gets mad and one-shots him when Goku or Piccolo stood zero chance at the time.
Beast form is the transformation that he inherited from Chi Chi. Soon we'll see Chi Chi Beast
That is why the fanbase hates Chi Chi too. She went from a sweet but powerful girl in Dragon Ball to an emotionally and sometimes physically abusive harpy.
It's not that people discredit Chi Chi it's just that she is controlling, manipulative and complains alot. Gohan is still different.
Team Four Star especially roasts Chi Chi in this regard and even Bulma.
I think that may be true, good thinking as it would explain the rage boost! Better than kioken as it lasts longer! 😂
Because he was capable of going further beyond
I think the real question was how was Gohan still way stronger than Vegeta after Trunks was killed? Goku snapped after Krillin died, Gohan snapped after 16 died, but Vegeta witnessing his own son die barely got stronger and merely served a small role in Cell's defeat.
Goku didn't get some massive rage boost like Gohan or Vegetable's 'my bulma moment' when Krillin died. He just tapped into Super Saiyan, it was a trigger and nothing more.
Truth be told that's what happened here with Gohan as well. That rage went into breaking down the barrier to SSJ2, rather than a short lived rage boost.
Lastly, Vegeta doesn't have half the bond with future Trunks here that Goku had with Krillin. Yes he has grown to care for the boy to a degree, but it's not deep. Meanwhile Krillin was Goku's best friend and Apprentice-brother for over nine years when Frieza killed him.
you could say Vegeta did get a rage boost but his power was so far below Cell that it didn't matter. maybe it put him on par with Goku, or at best maybe on par with gohan before ssj2. Cell did start bracing for Vegeta's energy blasts when before he only did that for the final flash

@@lewisstewart1015 cap
Honestly thought this was common knowledge
Nah it’s just wrong Goku is stronger
Yeah I think people get confused about Gohan. His power is like an ocean of untapped potential. Where as Vegeta and Goku tap into their power like a water dam. They fight better because of their mind set. If Gohan had their attitude he would really get his shine.
Just off the top of my head: (01) He's a hybrid Saiyan, who supposedly has more S-cells and can go (and stay) Super Saiyan more naturally (02) He had his potential unlocked, resulting in a higher power output and efficiency (03) He's been in dangerous situations ever since he was a kid, giving him a lot of Zenkai powerups (04) In his enraged state, his power multiplies dramatically
Most important of all he had proper instructions from his father which future Gohan didn't have. Goku also put his focus on Gohan unlike Vegeta only sparing with Trunks occasionally in the time chamber. I really think Trunks should have went in with piccolo instead, he would gain better results than with his father who didn't really train with him.
What I like about your videos you only use the Manga as your source of information which is really good to see every now and then
To me it’s always been Goku knew Gohan could win so he gave him the chance to fight. But if Goku sensed Gohan’s power lacking he wouldn’t have given up, I always compare this to Frieza’s fight where Goku’s body was pushed to the limits but he didn’t give up because nobody else could stand up to Frieza !!
This is why Beast Gohan is the strongest mortal in universe 7.
Yeah people tend to forget how absurd Gohan's base form was, several times we see kid Gohan sparing and keeping up with Piccolo and Goku at their base forms during the training for the androids. It's quite possible at some point during the Android saga Gohan's base eclipsed Goku's.
I mean the fact that a child could turn super San should be enough of a convincing argument for crying out loud 😆
That was filler

No.
Goku wanted to fight Cell first because Goku loves to fight. If he could beat Cell he sure as hell was going to give it his best shot.
@@priestesslucy3299 That would be true except that Goku knew in advance he couldn't beat Cell. Since he knew that it would make sense for him to show Gohan how he fights.

I love your breakdowns. I appreciate how much you love the series. Me and my friend have these same talks and almost 1 for 1 type of breakdown when talking about the silly things people say
Makes sense dragon was all about Goku surpassing people older than him so gohan being the same way is right on brand, the genius part about this is how toriyama hid this detail by making gohan lack confidence in himself which in turn made us lack confidence within him!
It's so many people feel like gohan wasn't strong enough to beat cell the moral of the story is to have confidence.
Gohan was a wimp the entire story up until now the first time we see him he's crying in raditz arms this shows him finally growing
Edit: thid shoes that his transformstion not just as a San but as a person is complete
If you think abt it. Goku went first because he was the more experienced fighter not necessarily stronger. He knew he’d be able to adapt to cell a completely unseen fighter to both

I like to think that when cells top half is destroyed as long as there's a large enough amount of his cells left over a new core can be made from those cells but if the core and the entire body of cells are vaporized there's nothing left to regenerate the core.

Right, the only thing that held Gohan back was his will to fight.
If you put SSJ1 Gohan against SSJ1 Goku and gave him the mentality of SSJ2 Gohan, he would defeat Goku with no doubt.
Gohan was meant to be the next protagonist that Dragon Ball fans were supposed to follow, but the outcry and resistance to that direction is why the Dragon Ball franchise has become the Goku and Vegeta show since Dragon Ball Z. Toriyama should have stuck to his guns and made Gohan the main protagonist going forward after the Cell Games Saga.
To do as good as he did against Perfect Cell whom had just eaten a senzu bean prior speaks volumes; definitely stronger than Goku and Vegeta seemed to have suspected it (as seen in the anime) while Goku fought Cell.
Still, Cell rather easily grabbed Gohan and it would have been over if he did not let go. His full power against ssj2 Gohan was huge.
Amazing video brother, i love it
Goku was literally so weak Gohan thought he was holding back. Lmao.
Gohan has *always* been stronger than Goku, even as a baby.
Not always
Goku and cell were fighting as hard as they could and gohan said nah they gotta be holding back
Goku was fighting as hard as he could
Cell was not even close to his full power
Cell was at best around 50% against Goku. Nothing more.
Perfect Cell has three points of power:
His warm up level when he fought Trunks and Vegeta
Powering up first time against Goku’s full power
Full power against SSj2 Gohan. At this point, his power was far above everyone else but Gohan’s, which still paled to Gohan.
Super Perfect Cell, which manga wise at least, implies Gohan couldve still taken him at full power. But the anime/manga show it with the final energy clash. Gohan was mentally nerfed but once he unleashed his full power, he destroyed Cell.

I always thought it was supported well enough that Gohan > Goku. What I find to be a more curious subject for discussion is how many times exactly SSj2 Gohan was. Keep in mind that before the Super Exciting Guide came out in 2007, no one would think to give SSj2 a multiplier as low as 2x. Based on Gohan's example, multipliers like 5-8x were commonly theorized by people to be at work there.
Gohan had a rage boost on top of SSJ2 so at the Cell Games it was over 2x anyways.
@@cywh1711 At the time, rage was considered to be a trigger for the transformation, the "rage boost" theory was made only later to accomodate the "standard" 2x multiplier. All other rage boosts we've seen in the series were instantaneous and petered out very quickly, while Gohan was able to maintain an amazing power level even after transforming a second time while not being in such emotional upheaval
@@SaturnineXTS this wasn’t just any rage boost though. This was Gohans “unleash his latent potential” rage boost, which is always more impressive than other characters rage boosts.
@@kitkat7074 Still, while transformed Gohan looked and acted nothing like he did when snapping before, which is a problem with this theory
Something I don't understand, the double standard Chi Chi has about training her sons. She did anything she could to stop Gohan from training and fighting, as well cramming the dream of being a scholar onto him as a young boy. But then in the Buu Saga, she's training Goten(technically a little before the saga starts). Think of how powerful Gohan could have been if he had a balance of studying and training during the periods of peace between archs. Not to mention, stunting Gohan's growth in strength also endangered the planet greatly. If Gohan never lost his fighting instincts, I doubt Yamu and Spopovich would have been able to steal his KI. Very possible Buu is never released from the ball. Then they're waiting on Beerus.
Tell me about it. Imagine if Chi-Chi taught him basic martial arts and also encouraged his studying, then told him to use his book smarts to help him fight when he needed to?
Gohan not training was his decision. He was able to have the normal stable life that was robbed from him during the entire z Sega. No telling how messed up he would have turned out if he didn't regain some of his lost childhood. Sure his fighting ability suffer but this the same guy who cab turn it up at anytime.

Gohan claims he doesnt wanna fight here. But on Namek he never backed down against Ginyu force, Freiza, scouts. He'd power up and give it everything he had. Even tho he was usually the weaker fighter on Namek.

Why LaughingstockMedia(Present) Is STRONGER Than LaughingstockMedia(Past) In The Earth Saga
@Laughingstock Media Have you seen the OVA where Goku beats Perfect Cell and he runs away? I had no idea.

A punching bag who is eating hits that would turn Goku into hamburger 😂
Can you do a video about how useful was Vegueta blast in the Cell v Gohan Kamehamehas?
I can’t believe this is an argument since even the anime made it obvious
Both the manga and anime made it clear that while everyone up to and during Goku vs Cell, they were all impressed with the level of power Goku showed (including with Korin), except for Gohan. Gohan NEVER showed the same impressions they did. He was never shocked or impressed. Always stoic or bored.
As Goku said, Gohan kept overestimating Goku and underestimating himself and why he thought Goku wasn’t going all our vs Cell. Goku’s full power was NOT impressive to Gohan, that Gohan thought Goku wasn’t even giving it his all.
i got a question for you about gohan, laughingstock. if gohan were born on planet vegeta, would he have been classed as a saiyan elite because of his unmatched potential?
Question, could you please do a video on what you think Goku did during his training for those 7 years in the Other World? How did Goku even know there was a level of Super Sayian 3? What was the trigger for it, was it emotional based, or just pure raw powering up and intense training? If the latter, then how come Vegeta couldn't reach it?
I know you did a video on how much stronger did Goku get between Cell Saga and Buu Saga, but I am asking for specifically your theory on his training methods, and how he discovered SSJ3 and it's trigger
Jerks writers don't like vegeta.
My personal interpretation has always been that Vegeta simply didn't want to use ssj3. He chased after Gokus power after seeing ssj, eventually attaining it. He then trains and attains ssj2 after witnessing it. In Buu saga he fights goku after the 7 years but didn't have the same training or pre 7 year strength as goku. After getting the Majin boost and being fairly even yet winning against ssj2 goku as ssj2, he eventually learned of ssj3 and of goku holding back against him. I think at that point he deciding instead of doing what others were or chasing after power ups that others received, he wanted to forge his own way through hard work. After all he off screen trained to use ssj God and then surpassed it, attaining ssgss first if I'm not wrong. Then with ssgss evolution being his own entirely, him outright saying in the anime that he'd make his own way without trying to do what goku does. This is again evidenced by Ultra Ego. On top of that I think he saw ssj3 the same as he did grade 3 ssj. A great power up but at a great cost, ssj3 draining issues and ssj grade 3 speed loss.
Tldr, even if he can use it (he probably can tbh), he doesn't want to and now doesn't need to
@@ohdell85 hm, interesting point. Vegeta probably thought maybe a form could exist beyond Super Sayian 2, but figured it wouldn't matter. He probably focused on mastering Super Sayian 2 like Goku and Gohan did for SSJ1 during the Cell Games. He figured Goku would go down that route, a d Gohan to. He probably figured it was best to be well balanced and have great durability and endurance and stamina, rather than just keep increasing his raw strength and power output. He figured mastering Super Sayian 2 would give him an edge already. As in the Manga, he was surprised and shocked Goku reached SSJ2. He said something like "so Kakorot reached the level beyond Super Sayian to? ..." so he was probably having like a "Oh shit, he can do SSJ2 as well! Dammnit all to hell" moment, lol
Goku: I give up, I'm gonna make my son beat you tho, AYO SON!!!

His ssj was slightly stronger, but Goku was a better fighter so they were equals, not considered rage boosts which allowed him to reach the power threshold go ssj2.
Maybe everyone was so shocked because they didn’t expect gohan to be as strong as goku in general cause no one believed what goku was saying but that doesn’t mean his super saiyan 1 form is stronger than goku’s
Except you are wrong
@@aceclover758 ok
Gohan was the most powerful but lacked the internal drive to be effective until he had no other choice
Another hole here is that Goku could absolutely trounce Cell after one or two recoveries. There was well over enough supply of beans for any of these Saiyans to become strong enough during their turn, if they had one.
I'd say that "That" gohan form was closer to ss3 goku given his Beast mode on top of ss2. in buu saga dabora was said to be perfect cell level by piccolo and older ss2 gohan couldn't really beat him...yes he was weaker from not training but so was Debora given he didn't have cells extra abilities like healing
17:11 nobody makes me bleed my own blood
Y’all forgot gohans ptsd pushed him to train even harder then he did with piccolo he told goku several times let’s keep training goku was gassed out and gohan wanted to keep training goku committed some of the worse acts of child abuse in anime history during this arc(beat the shit outta gohan for a year even attempted to obliterate him with a kamehameha)
Gohan had the impression that Goku was hiding tons of power when he called him to fight Cell that is why he was a little anxious, when Goku told Gohan that he was using his 100%, Gohan had confidence he could win and honestly if Goku had Gohan's power even in Super Saiyan one, Cell would have gotten absolutely destroyed.
Nope since Cell was still holding back severely
In my head canon every single transformation gives the user a boost in his base mode, more or less 10% that's why they're stronger than other who only achieve or un lock a previous lvl
What’s crazy is the amount of people who still don’t believe… when both the manga AND anime prove that in fact Gohan was stronger. And that Goku was giving it his all.
I just reread these exact two fights in the manga and that’s simply untrue. Anime I’m not gonna speak for, but at no point before Gohan reached Super Saiyan 2 did anyone say wow he’s stronger or doing better than Goku did. Which in the whole cell saga they had no problem flat out saying so and so is stronger than so and so. I understand people are gonna believe what they want, however when I take time to reread the manga multiple times to make sure my facts are straight. I’ll definitely call out bs when I see it.
I'm still surprised that some fans believe Cell "could" be a good guy. Or at least say that he's the most chill villain out of all the major antagonists.
I’m sure people thought this way about Vegeta when he was a bad guy. You think it’s impossible just because it didn’t happen.
Cell was less of a bastard than many of the previous villains.
Especially Frieza who's just an asshole because he feels like it.
@@kitkat7074 10 days before his death, Cell was literally drinking people. After absorbing #17, he blew up inhabited islands to find #18. He tries to destroy the Earth three times. And when Gohan fails to unleash his power, Cell spanws little critters to kill the Z-fighters. He is very evil.
@@KaiserMattTygore927 I can agree with that. I think Nappa and Raditz were less evil than Cell.
Exactly. Cell is the most irredeemable villain in my opinion outside of Kid Buu
My only question is what would have happened if Goku jumped back in against Cell when Piccolo briefly convinced him Gohan was gong to die from Cell's bearhug. If Goku went all out against Cell the first time, what would he have done if he did listen to Piccolo. Unless it was filler then never mind.
Kid you: I wanna be a fire fighter! Or maybe a wrestler!
Adult you: I make Dragonball Z videos on RUclips.
And we appreciate you just as much 😂
