You could, but would have to change the construction a bit and add in seam allowances. I would add a heavyweight interfacing and possibly soft and stable to give the quilting cotton a bit more body. Good luck with your wallet hack!
I have three sizes of washers that I use a LARGE 3264 (2.5"), a MEDIUM 6KK (2") and a SMALL 3261 (1.75"). They are so cheap at the hardware store and are so effective!
Sewing with cork is such a breeze and so much easier than with leather!
