"Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" and the HBO Max series Peacemaker as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic. Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are, along with The Warning band, almost single-handedly bringing back the joy of rock. One possible reason for the difference in Saiki's voice (other than a vocal choice) between the MV and live is that the studio version was released in July 2017 and Saiki had surgery to remove polyps from her vocal chords that summer so my guess is that it was recorded before the surgery when her voice was in a really bad way with less than 50% power.
@@andreasmusiccorner She has and her vocal capabilities have improved tremendously and it seems that she has be taken good care of. The live shows are constructed to give her breaks including a section of calmer songs plus usually an instrumental followed by a song where Miku sings lead to also reduce the load.
@@dazedandconfused318 I think that's a very smart idea! Even if she has recovered, we know that it can happen again and sometimes it is one the reasons singers end their careers, so I am glad they are taking care of it.

Great reaction. The music video was released on June 2017 (it was recorded earlier) and Saiki (lead singer) underwent vocal cord polyp surgery (at that time her voice was half as strong and she couldn't sing more that a couple of hours at a time) in June 2017 and was not able to sing at full volume for a couple of months. Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Great reaction. The music video was released on June 2017 (it was recorded earlier) and Saiki (lead singer) underwent vocal cord polyp surgery (at that time her voice was half as strong and she couldn't sing more that a couple of hours at a time) in June 2017 and was not able to sing at full volume for a couple of months. Now her voice is much stronger and more full than before, so that's why you noticed the difference in her voice. Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid. Enjoy your comments, new sub.
