11:56 you scan your cruise card so they know you’re off the ship. Once you done that then your card will stop working. This means you can’t get back on the ship anymore. But there’s always next time.

the reason for the luggage not fitting on return? all cars are sprayed before you get home and they shrink the insides making it difficult, they also spray your cloths so they shrink on board giving the impression of over eating😎
Hat show on the last night was immense wasn’t it? I had a disembark time of about 11am but had read or seen that you can self disembark which I took advantage of as I had a taxi booked for 845! I arranged to leave at 805 - I left my room at 8am, was kerb side waiting for taxi at 825! Had breakfast at quayside!
Yeah you can also do it yourself, at least you were in time for the taxi . We thought the show was brilliant, glad you had a great time too by the sounds of it
Thanks for another great video. I wasn't entirely clear about the timeline. I gather that any cases you want to be delivered to the exit hall for you you leave outside the cabin the night before? If you have to be out of the room by 8 but breakfast goes on until 9 are there lots of people wheeling around their small suitcases in the restaurants, or is there somewhere to leave the bag? You went to the buffet which was really busy for breakfast, but presumably there are the other venues open still? Sorry for all the questions.
Yes leave your cases outside the night before to collect once off the ship. Yes people will carry there small cases with them in the mdr. It does get a bit crazy with cases everywhere lol. Yes the MDR's and buffet will be open for breakfast on disembarkation morning
@@OneCouplesAdventure It turns out that on this cruise we can leave bags out from 2pm. Doesn't all have to be in one go as we can leave last one out when we go to bed.
I always try and avoid that room mess lol, especially when you spend a fair amount of time in your room. Using packing cubes or something is amazing, dirty clothes in one clean in the other etc, or just try and keep everything in yout suitcase. Disembarkation is different for every line. HAL you can change your time if you wish, and the times on leaving your room isn't as strict. Obviously you can also self disembark. Also, if you're not driving home or something, stay at the port the day of disembarkation if you can to avoid having to self disembark early or something to catch a flight. Obviously, if you book through the cruise line they will make sure you make it. Owing them money isn't a bad thing if you budget for it. If you don't have an included drinks package or something, paying for good drinks isn't bad, often it works out cheaper than buying a drinks package on the ship. Also, make sure you always spend your spending money, it doesn't get refunded normally so you may as well spend it. Normally the luggage is grouped in disembarkation groups not decks, it makes it easier fro the crew that way, so early disembarkers may be group 1 for example, suite guest group 2, at least on HAL, different for every line of course. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it and hope you're not far away from doing another one :)

Great videos very informative. we go the last week of August for our 25th wedding anniversary cruise, delayed by 3 years due to covid, but still looking forward to it. I know you guys used car parking, but did you notice the situation with Taxis, as we have to get one to Poole to catch a ferry back to Jersey. Dont know whether to book one or just use a taxi rank cab if a rank exists.
I would recommend using uber over a rank cab. At least with uber the price shown is the price you pay, those rank ones will cost you a fortune. There is a queue for rank cabs outside the terminal but the uber will pick you up next to the rank ones.
Hi guys, I have enjoyed watching this vlog series. It will be our first cruise on the Iona in September and I have found your series very helpful and and answered most of the questions that I had. I do have one thing I would ask...What is the etiquette around tipping? I have heard differing things...that it's added to your bill at the end or you can request to pay yourself...what is your experience?
Thanks for watching. The tips are included. If at the end of the week you think someone deserves some extra than you can give them a cash tip if you want. We left the cabin attendant one as he did a good job
Depends on the cruise and package you got, some have it included and some don't. Most of the time if they are not included then they will be automatically be added onto your bill at the end. However, you can opt out of this but I wouldn't, they actually form a pretty important part of the crews wage normally. You can also leave cash in your room or give it to a specific crew member if you want
Hi, I think from what we can remember that a few weeks before we went they changed one of the places we were due to visit. We should of gone to Geiranger but they swapped it in advance for one of the other ports

am bit confused as you have to leave your case outside night before but then where do you pack your last used items night wear etc? also 8am seems early to be out of the room esp if you then can't get off ship till 11 am
We had a mini case we kept to put our stuff in. It is a pain but by the time you have been for breakfast and had a last look around its time to get off
Thank you for your vlogs, I have watched all of them. May I please ask if you know, are you allowed to get off the ship at an early time slot? We have a flight home to catch the day we arrive back in Southampton and hope we can get off the ship early to get to the airport. Also can you hold onto your luggage and take it off the ship yourself? Thank you for any insights you may have.
I'd like to say faith in humanity lol but no nothing really. I suppose they would have cctv up to catch the thief who stole your suitcase if it ever did happen 🤣
£11 final balance 😂😂😂 if we get away with £500 we are happy, you can do self disembarkation on the final day which for us with long drives just gives you a head start on getting home, although we now break the journey up and stop in Worcester on the way back to Lancashire. You’ll be planning your next cruise they are so addictive 👍

Yes we went the buffet for breakfast but it was very busy. Our cases fit inside each other so we could fit them at the side of the sofa but there was plenty of room under the bed
