Yeah, it can definitely be a habit of wanting to shave/trim the neck when growing the beard out. And youre right, if you're trying to grow your beard out its best to leave it alone because the neck hair after growing the beard out for a couple of months it can make the beard look better in my opinion. Plus after it gets longer people won't really be able to see back there. Ive started growing my beard out and I've stopped messing with my neckline. Been leaving everything natural. Plus this will work good for some guys if you're one of those guys that gets lazy and don't feel like shaving that area lol.
That’s it! Once your beard goes beyond the neckline no one can see it anyway. And yeah, looks way better as it gives the beard a lot more volume and support. I’m one of those lazy guys for sure.
@@BeardsterI know this is way late, but I wanted you to know that this is still helping people. I know exactly what you mean, that if you start trimming, just the very edge stray hairs and the next thing you know, half your beard is gone.
The beard hairs around the neckline start tingling the neck whenever i lower my head. It just annoys me to no end and i end up trimming my neck line. 😢
Your beard is looking good! I stopped trimming my neckline 5/6 weeks ago. Im planning to go to the barber when i hit the 4 month mark, but im afraid they cut to much off, even when i am clear. And im not confident enough to do it myself. 😂
Hey man thanks for the comment! Yeah getting it cut by the barber is scary as they normally take too much off. You just need to spend some time with the same barber for a few months and see if they are any good before asking them to do that.
I ruined my 5 month beard had neck hairs sticking out. So I at first I trimmed the whispy neck hairs sticking out with a beard scissors which was ok, then the lip line and I kept going back and forth and eventually I tried lining up the neck with the detailers and ruined my entire beard and had to buzz it off completely. Last time I try and trim it myself DON'T TOUCH IT UNLESS YOUR CONFIDENT IN YOUR OWN ABILITY TO TRIM YOUR BEARD
At 2.5months now and my neckline is curling out and my cheeks are curling in over my jaw. Looks a bit weird now but hopefully in a couple of weeks this awkward stage passes.
@@Beardster Thanks for checking up. Unfortunately between work, a massive heat wave (Southern hemisphere summer) and some heat rash, I have retired my beard until March when it gets cooler. I do miss the beard however.
I've been growing a yeard for 7 months, But I also shave my neck...... And, I've honestly been beating myself up about it "should I shave the neck? Shouldn't I shave the neck". It's been a real battle for me.
Hey Chris, how are you? Yeah I get that but for me, I'm not a huge fan of that look. I think barber shops have overdone it and it can create an unflattering line on your chin.
I dont shave my neck anymore. I quit shaving my neck once i got some length to my beard to hide the neck line. The best way to grow a beard is to throw away all razors & temptations that might make you want to shave. If it gets to out of hand then see a barber so that way you’re not tempted to shave off your manly beard!
Week 13 already!! Where has the time gone. Only 39 more weeks to go until I finish this Yeard Project. Is there anything you would like covered off in this series?
Hi Brandon - could not agree more! I've trimmed the neckline way back at the start of the yeard for a video tutorial. I'm now something like 35 weeks 30+ in off the top of my head and its given me some crazy shape and volume.
imo a beard shouldn't be trimmed at all, it just makes it look fucking awful after a week or two of growth later. Then you just go back to the barber over and over again, I mean, you go ahead and do what you want with your beard but natural beards look better especially with a super high cheekline and epic long sideburns. Just let it grow men, seriously, unless you have a ton of split ends then go ahead and get the damage trimmed.
Hey man, how are you? Love your perspective on this. I think a lot of people cannot simply leave their beards to go into that awesome natural form etc, maybe because because of work etc. But you’re right, a beard that is natural looks insane over a highly sculpted one 👍🏻 ps. This video is over a year old so I grew the beard out pretty big and it got fairly wild at some point. I’m now rocking a short beard and the length is slowly coming back whilst in self isolation
Doing good man, thanks for the reply. Just chilling in lockdown, drinking some beer. You should definitely try a natural yeard, I only made it 5 months last time. (kept shaving my mustache off, ended up looking funky) Now I'm on month 2 of natural yeard finally made it past the itchy phase.
Hey, Regn - no lies here. I documented one year Of beard growth in this series. Feel free to go back to episode 1 when I went clean shaven and watch through/see the dates etc. Missed a couple of episodes towards the end but i wanted to show what a year of growth could look like.
Yeah you are right he did - most ideas are not original Jerome. I've chatted to Jack on Instagram about him being my inspiration for this series. Hope that's cool with you
I’m 3 weeks in and was tempted to trim my neck but I don’t think I’ll bother now. Cheers!
Im planing on growing a big beard so i quit shaving the neck line 3 months in , from now on i just shave the cheek lines, thanks for the video 👍.
My neck beard is super low, I’m really glad I watched this. I definitely need to suck it up and just let it grow.
DO IT! Just try not to think about it. I just stopped thinking about it and it has certainly worked out alright.

Just started over 2 weeks ago. Not gonna trim anything at all for as long as possible. Then only cheekline, maybe.
Please keep me updated! Best of luck, man. It's fun but can be super annoying at times.

@@Beardster yeah since the bottom of my beard has gotten longer nobody can really tell or see my neckline lol. Check out some of my videos lol.

I just started regrowing my beard back out & I don't even touch the beard with cutting or trimming until I'm atleast at the 6 month mark!!
That’s probably the best thing you could have done, Mike.

The long beards can be a killer when it’s hot, that’s for sure.
Thanks exactly what I needed to know just getting started
Hi Bradley, that is great to know! How long have you been growing the beard?
4 weeks
Awesome, is it going well?

No problem Anthony
I feel like the beard looks sharper and stands out more when it's trimmed near the jawline? What do you think

My chin beard is pretty slow , my neck beard is peeping out .. damn in my 13th week .. any remedies ??

Eminem been real quiet since this dropped 🤔
Eminem's beard's weird. Don't tell him that though, or he will drop a track on you.
If only he would
whatever...lol

@@regnregnet1673 Thank you. My edit will reflect this correction. I went ahead and capitalized some things while I was under the hood.
I never trim my neck ever, I have a perfect natural neckline , & my beard is insane full because of it, & has a ton of volume.

Hey Jerome, no worries bro! Thanks for watching the video and it would be good to have you in this growing community :)
