    Do you have any statistics for 2023? My cousin lives in Meridian, Mississippi, and needs disability benefits. What's ironic is that he used to work in the healthcare field. Are there any advocates that can work on his behalf? Thank you!

    I am moving to MS in about a month or so and going to be applying for SSI I am a 90% disabled Vet and no longer able to work in my fields in the civilian world how long do u think it would take?

      Hi! It typically takes 30-90 days for an application to be fully processed by SSA. After that it is transferred to DDS for a medical determination. That typically takes 5-7 months. Claims that are denied and appealed go back to DDS and the 5-7 month process happens again. If denied a second time and appealed, the case goes to the hearing level and it takes an average of 12 months to schedule a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. These average timelines are provided by SSA.

      @@CitizensDisability wow thats a long drawn out process now i understand why so many vets are homeless... I just coordinated to move to MS in a home below my VA income for retirement so I can then apply for SSA or SSI wich ever its called.
