Excellent review and video. I am actually thinking about buying this. I have a BENQ and it has all kinds of issues. For someone who doesn’t have a lot of money or options, the Samsung M8 is the best. Honestly, if you’re okay with the few quirks of this monitor, it’s a good buy. Yes not many I/O ports and colour shifts here and there. If you do get it, I strongly recommended you get it on sale. Sometimes it’s as high as 50% off.
Great review. I liked how you admitted in your conclusion, while you can’t recommend it per say, you prefer it still because of its looks. I can relate to to that. Great review

I totally agree with your excel review, but one thing to look for, sales. I purchased mine directly from Samsung for $399 US dollars. The audio is terrible, but I do love this monitor!
Great video!! I think the I/O of this monitor is not sufficient. Micro HDMI is not common as well. If next generation of M series can get a HDMI, a DP and a or two USB-C ports, it will be awesome!!

Hi friend I have a problem with my M8 monitor ,many Samsung Tec People failed to rectify. My M8 is of 2022 model is not supporting 4k HDR when it is connected to intel UHD graphics 620 desktop but supports only 4k. Standalone support 4k HDR no problem same desktop supports 4kHDr in other displays. All drivers UpToDate . Display connected with USB c to C suppled by Samsung . Any suggestions?
Hey bud, So I think the first thing it to make sure that ‘input signal plus’ is set to ‘on.’ You can find this setting in the connection tab under all settings in the monitor menu. Once that’s activated, it’d make sure that the monitor can receive an HDR signal from the source. Depending on if you’re on windows 10 or 11, right click on the desktop and go to display settings and make sure that the HDR is set to active in the use windows HD colour tab Now you also want to make sure that the USBc cable you’re using has enough bandwidth to actually output a higher bandwidth signal. You want to make sure it’s something like Thunderbolt 3 or 4 Let me know if it works.
If you don’t mind the port limitations and it being 60Hz you can give it a short. However, I’d advise you chill a little. The S9 drops later this year and that’s gonna be 5k with more port selections.
Hello, very good video. One question, I bought the Samsung M8 and a Mac Mini M2, and I don't really know which cable to use to connect it. I have read that if you do not connect it via USB-C it does not detect the camera, but in that case, which USB-C cable do I use, the one that comes with the monitor itself? And which of the two USB-C that the monitor has should I use? Because there is one that charges, and if I connected it to a laptop I would understand it, it would charge it, but if I connect it to a Mac Mini it doesn't need to be charged, wouldn't that be bad? Thank you so much.
Hi! Thanks for the comment. So you want to use the usbc cable that comes with the monitor and plug it in the usbc port in the middle. (You’d see a symbol on-top of the port indicating that it displays to a screen with a curved arrow). Now you want to plug one end to the monitor and the other to you Mac mini or MacBook pro or Air. Behind the Mac mini, there should be one of the usbc ports that has a little lighting bolt symbol on top, plug it into that one and it should send a display signal to the monitor. Do let me know if this works.
@@seriultgmx Perfect, thank you very much. I already have the monitor but I'm waiting for the Mac Mini to arrive, as soon as it arrives I'll try it and tell you. Thanks again.
@@seriultgmx Yes that worked, thank you very much. The Mac Mini has been slow to arrive and that is why I had not answered before. What I see is that it connects by itself, I don't have to select the Mac part on the Samsung M8, because if I enter Mac it's like connecting via Air Play, I don't know if it's the right thing to do. Anyway, are there any recommended settings that I need to do more on the Samsung M8 to work well with the Mac Mini? My use is mainly office, and then some photo or video editing but not at a professional level, and I don't play on the Mac Mini. Thank you very much in any case for everything. All the best
This is now US$440 (May 2023) making it cheaper than the BenQ, LG and Dell. I’m tempted. But really need brightness and color accuracy for photo and video.
I feel you. It does get quite bright (450nits) but you’d notice some vignetting around the corners. Even though it’s 99% SRGB space, the colour calibration tools…. Just don’t get that accurate. For colour accuracy, BenQ would be my top pic but I think LG is pretty accurate as well.
what about the S8 ? im considering one of these two.. both of them are priced the same.. the S8 has an IPS panel which is far better i think than the M8's VA panel.
Yeah I’ve heard good things about the S8. If massive colour shifts bother you, don’t even go close to the M8. However, if you’re okay with waiting little longer, the new S9 drops later this year and will be way better than the M8 and have more ports. If you’re pressed for time the S8 is definitely a good options as well.
I haven’t tested this myself so I can’t say for sure if it does or doesn’t. I know Samsungs do support daisy chain via USB c. If I get some clarity, I’d get back to you.
I believe you have to use the HDMI micro cable that comes with the monitor, connect that to the PS5 and it should work. HDMI to usb C may be tricky and likely not work on this monitor. The usbc cable and port are more for laptops while the HDMI cable is for your console or a device that supports HDMI
@@seriultgmx that's what I thought. Does it mean I have to be constantly disconnecting and connecting depending on which one I want to use? Is there a good splitter that won't tamper with the quality? Thanks

Excellent and well produced video on a very interesting monitor. You might want to think about losing the cap or adjusting the lighting on your face as it's a little too shrouded in shadow.
Hi, try to make sure that you’re connected with the usbc cable to the Mac mini. The webcam will only work with a pc that’s connected through the usbc display cable. If you’re plugged through the hdmi cable, it won’t work. Hopefully this helps
Hello there, Absolutely, you're good to go with connecting your PS5 using the HDMI cable that's included with the monitor. Just a quick heads-up, the cable is a bit on the shorter side, so just keep that in mind. If you prefer using the PS5's own cable, you'll need an adapter to convert one end to HDMI micro, which then fits into the back of the monitor. If you plan on using multiple devices, I’d definitely you get an HDMI splitter (one that can handle a HDR 60fps signal) so bother HDMI devices plug into the splitter and the one hdmi cable from the monitor plugs into the splitter. That way you still have the usb c display port for one more device and you don’t have to unplug cables at the back of the monitor each time you need to switch devices. Regrettably, the monitor doesn't support installation of the Hue Sync app.
Hi! I got this monitor, and the Google Meet app isn't connecting even after following the directions on the screen and using settings on the android phone. Have you been able to get the pre-installed Google Meet app to work?
Hi there, so this is a feature on the monitor I never use but I tried it just now to see how it works and mine works fine. There are a few things you may want to try. They may seem basic but sometimes it’s the little things count lol. 1. Make sure your phone and the monitor are on the same network/wifi. 2. Press the home button on the remote and go to connected devices then click on ‘Samsung slim fit cam’ and click on ‘google duo’ among the 3 options it displays on the screen. 3. If you haven’t already, install the google meet app on your iPhone and just follow the onscreen instructions. 4. Allow all the access for contacts etc and once it’s logged in fully, use the remote to tap on the search bar above and search the name of the person you want to call and dial. Hopefully these steps help.
@seriultgmx Thank you!! I've done all those steps before and on my phone it couldn't find the TV sign in, so it was stuck on searching forever. I just tried to do the exact same thing, and now it worked! Thank you for your conment!! I'm not sure if I get to use this feature but since it's built in, i'ts important for any features to be working. Haha!
@@seriultgmx For video calling using the camera that comes with the M8 and not using an external laptop or pc but just the processor in the TV, is Google Meet the only option or does Skype or Zoom work too? Which would you recommend for easiest daily video call usage?
It’s good enough. Not the best input lag in the world but from my experience it’s fine. The HDR is a little weak and remember it’s 60Hz max so it will not look very smooth compare to 144hz monitors
If Samsung would just make this an IPS panel and the body aluminum I would buy this a long time ago. I love everything else about it and how many features it has. Really starting to dislike how so many products being made today have sacrifices they force you to make. Why not just focus on one perfect product at a time or as close as possible. Work out the kinks and calibrate it for an amazing product. It's because of stuff like this monitor why I lean towards the apple products but then im reminded of the sacrifices you would have to make with their products. Just ridiculous really.
I totally get your point here! I do use some apple products and there is no question about their quality but they absolutely crush your wallet for it! Later this year, the S9 promises to be Bette than the M8 in every way. Looking for to what it does bring and it’s price point.
The only major difference I’ve seen is the 2023 version allows you to rotate the screen to a vertical position and now comes with an added adapter for VESA mounting. So if you had you own monitor arm, you can now use it with this. In terms of the display quality or features, no real changes there. Quick note, the S9 is around the corner and is 5k and the I’ll have more ports than this plus a 4K camera. If you’re okay with waiting a few months, just have a look at what it offers before making your final decision.
@@seriultgmx Thank you! I actually already have the m8, My nephew liked it & has a birthday coming up but I saw the difference when I looked them up. I’m thinking I should wait for the s9 and just give him my m8 lol

Thanks for the nice video. Although, I am having a bug problem with my Samsung M8 monitor. When it’s connected to my MacBook Air, the mouse cursor is quite slow and inaccurate.. making it hard to click on a certain file or button. Did you ever face a similar issue? and do you know how it can be fixed?
Ah, I think I may have a potential solution. Press the home key and go to the 'connected devices tab' and scroll to the connected input which would be USB-c. Once highlighted, press down to bring up a second menu, then click edit device. Here you will see a list, (Cable box, console etc) Select 'PC' and hit OK. It should get rid of the input lag
Me and you both! They say it supports thunderbolt and P3 wide gamut so would be way better that the M8 in terms of display quality so yeah I’m definitely pumped for it!
@Seri / UltGmx Seri, first of all. Thanks for the review; helps a ton. I have but only one question. Does the monitor or MacBook when connected to the m8 monitor -- gives any static electricity? As you know since Apple stopped giving three pin/prong adapter, there is static electricity issue while charging MacBook despite plugging it into grounded connection. And most importantly, M8 monitor do not come with three pin/prong plug.
Thank you for the comment. Interesting question. This is not an issue that I have personally encountered but one way I have seen people try to resolve it is getting a extension that rectifies the voltage from the wall to ensure that all devices plugged don’t have the static issue due to grounding. This especially affects microphones more often than not. I’d recommend you do a bit more research into an extension that solves this problem from the wall and hopefully you won’t have the issue anymore. Sometimes certain types of UPS (uninterrupted power supply unit) could fix this issue as well but that’s a way more expensive solution. Hopefully this helps.
Hi there, the blacks are really good for a VA panel but no where like OLED. You can also play around with the contrast enhancer option in the picture settings for more dramatic results.
Hello bud, Nope, I still use it till this day and it’s aged way better than I ever expected. Depending on your needs and if you’re okay with there ‘Samsung TV os’ I’d actually recommend this over most of the new stuff they’ve brought out since when I got this monitor especially when it’s on sale. Can we connect a ps5 to the monitor or it need an adapter ? And does this monitor have the app hue sync?
Hello there,
Absolutely, you're good to go with connecting your PS5 using the HDMI cable that's included with the monitor.
I am really very impressed of your rievew......👍👍👍
Thank you!
Is it good for playing with PS5?
It’s good enough. Not the best input lag in the world but from my experience it’s fine. The HDR is a little weak and remember it’s 60Hz max so it will not look very smooth compare to 144hz monitors
Just bought it for $220, will see how it is.
😳 that’s insane! Was it aftermarket? That’s a crazy deal!
I had one and return it after 3 days and bought a Pro Display xdr
Wow! Good on your the pro’s display is ridiculously good!
What camera do you use to film!?
I use the Panasonic Gx85
Boss very good review
Does anybody know what the difference is between the 2022 and 2023 model?
P.S Your video quality & editing is amazing! Definitely subscribing 🙌
does it shake when you type on it
If you have it on a solid desk it doesn’t shake. However, it here is considerable wobble on this monitor if you touch it or have a desk and shakes a lot. On desk I have it on doesn’t shake while typing though.
@@seriultgmx yea you right I got one and it shakes but it’s not as bad as the lg monitors.
But where's the Apple logo?
Does webcam work with laptop
Yes provided the laptop supports display via the usbc cable. It won’t work if you’re using the hdmi cable
I want buy this
Great boss keep it up
I'm waiting for the S9!
Me and you both! They say it supports thunderbolt and P3 wide gamut so would be way better that the M8 in terms of display quality so yeah I’m definitely pumped for it!
@Seri / UltGmx
Seri, first of all.
Are blacks really black/deep/inky during movie watching in dark room? Thanks
Hi there, the blacks are really good for a VA panel but no where like OLED. You can also play around with the contrast enhancer option in the picture settings for more dramatic results.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
They just updated it with few new features.
Oh wow! You mean this M8? I’m currently away for a trip so I can’t test this for myself. I’d definitely check it out once I return.
@@seriultgmx yeah, that one was M80B. New one is M80C.
"6 months later" .... Riiiight; you still have the packaging plastic on the webcam - I Imagine you returned it after the review....
This goes without saying: NEVER get ANY Samsung display at full price. They’re ALWAYS gonna do steep sales and that’s the only time to consider getting one.
Very nice ❤❤
Thanks for the comment!
Looking great monitor and nice idea to use as smart TV...almost buys me.
In Amazon site was pretty good (I guess) price, BUT such a high percentage ONE star reviews... even worst then any other monitor.
So I'm cool down and still make a research... Thank you for your points.
Yeah, this is one of those monitors that you can’t easily recommend because of how competitive this price point it.
@@seriultgmx Ended with order LG 32UN880-B 32" UltraFine Display Ergo UHD 4K IPS Display...
Know it's 2020 model but still have a very high rating also price is down ($ 496 in US).
Thanks for respond and Good Luck !
Nice ❤❤
Thanks G.
I can not see you bro
Bro this comment is underrated it cracked me up!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Dead pixel, repaired then another dead pixel, now waiting on refund.
Use for work 2 days per week. It went from wow new to what a piece of shit in 4 months 👎🏼
Wow, sorry to hear that. I did see a few posts on Amazon were someone received a DOA panel but they got it replaced. With these new panels it really a lottery each time you make a purchase.
Samsung no - samsoog 👍🏻
Hahah
