I also started my homestead from scratch too. 1 year on a gas generator, no running water, septic or electricity. We finally was approved for the easement, the electric is a God Sent. 1 weed wacker, 1 mallets, a rake and a shovel. Everything we do out here is with our two hands a 2 feet. Love the video. Hard work pays off. Next is our water well can not wait.
One of the things that impresses me so much about you guys and the other homesteaders I follow is how supportive you are of other youtubers. Justin Rhodes, the Hollars and several others always promote others who are doing the same thing. I think that is so generous. Instead of competing you are encouraging others. I personally appreciate that quality in the homestead community.
What a sweet farm, boy have they done some work. I agree with NurseShert S that you are having your own farm tour, but you can do the North Carolina Farm Tour! You are welcome here anytime! We would love to have your family come and visit. Blessings
Here in suburban Orange county , California I have no soil, but I subscribe to Imperfect Foods, local farmers supply less than perfect foods by subscription. As a vegan , I love this! It;s amazing to eat locally grown mostly organic foods, and I feel blessed ! Farmers are a blessing !
We raise Ancona ducks, and they come in a multitude of spotted colors. My ducks lay both green, and cream eggs. They are prolific egg layers, and excellent foragers! If you want the different colors, you'll want to order from a breeder that carriers them as most hatcheries only have white and black spotted.
Awesome homestead. You guys are the best. But I really really enjoy watching y’all on your homestead. My husband and I are raising our three and four year old grandchildren and you guys have inspired us in our sixties to start our own homestead. Love you guys.
Hi guys, Thanks for this video! My wife and I have thought about doing prepared meal kits from a homestead as a way to combine our interests and provide an income. It was great to see someone who made that model work. It just reinforces how a homestead is an extension of the people who live there. Stay safe, be well and all the best from California 💛
It's so lovely to see you in the light of your own living space, without lamps casting shadows!!! How happy you all must be. Loved this visit with fellow homesteaders. Beautiful place and a testament to very hard work and a great ethic,,, just like you guys. Thank you for supporting the new kids on the block. We have all been that. Can't wait for video with Jason and Lorraine. So good to see neighbors be supportive with one another. Doesn't it do your heart good?
Its not weird !!!! I think ppl just forgot about life... they living the fast life .... But wen we homesteading we liviiing a more healthier lifestyl.. God bless you guys... Greetings from South Africa
Oh Mike and Lacie you are so supportive and generous to others. This was such a great vlog. First of all it gave us a lot at different land type in NC. Secondly it focused on a fruit and vegetable based business. Thirdly the business model varies from that with which we are familiar in NC. Value adding via food boxes and producing canned goods plus the innovation of a cooking school really fits the NC community. Of course you wonder about the personal things such as the financial rewards and so on. Keeps your brain busy during the day. Thank you for sharing LittlexLittle with us.
wonderful how you are showcasing other peoples places to encourage each other and help also teaching your children these ideas i live in virginia and am old school lol
nice to see how others are living the dream..sow the land is my other favorite..looking forward to that venture..be safe in your travels and thanks for sharing them
Mike and Lacie: Thank you for this video. It was interesting to see another person's perspective on gardening and "value-added" meal preparation. Their model works because they have access to a commercial kitchen. (Wish we had that here in Olympia). It was nice seeing how much could be done on a small piece of property. Thank you, and Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA .
Thank you for sharing another family's way of homesteading. It's neat to see different ideas. I am looking forward to seeing you all with Jason and Lorraine. I watch Sow the Land, too. I have first time meat chickens, so I am definitely interested in watching your upcoming video. God Bless! Carmen
they have a great lil farm! That's probably about the size I'd like to have. Gardens were gorgeous! Mine are never that neat, straight or clean, LOL. Thank you for introducing other homesteaders for us to choose to follow.
I'm super in love with your channel and the family. Yall inspired my dreams for my suburban home. Slowly getting rid of the yard for garden. Thank you to you and your wife for being great roll models weither you ment to or not.

That was fascinating... you always have interesting content beyond your own homestead. Totally different concept, that one spoke to me. I truly appreciate that !!
I was having a serious case of deja vu, until I realized that I have seen them in other videos... I must of been talking to the wife or kid when or if it was mentioned. Great video as always.
I subscribed to your channel. Your not too far from me ☺️ I'm in bluefield. It's so nice to see people that are somewhat close to home. My husband and I are trying to start our first homestead and we're looking for property now. The big problem is money lol but where there's a will there's a way and we know it will happen.
The eldaberrys can be cut to the ground an it comes back harder the stickers u get off of it can be planted to make more bushes cut the part that goes in the ground on angle then cut above the Nigel an plant lots
I think when you live in the country, you tend to grow gardens but when you're in the city we sometimes grow in small flower beds. Either way we try to grow something.
that was a great tour at your friends place, one thing does drive me crazy though is that you keep looking at the camera while your talking to someone. Are you making sure your camera is level or what? Just a little thing that I've noticed over the yr.
you probably were sleeping all these years while commies in venezuela turning that country into basketcase with no food in stores and farmlands destroyed as state owns the land ! They grow really fast and radishes don't mind cold weather all that much. I would stick some in the ground now just to see how they turn out.

Pam says- have you tried the cauliflower leaves as a green? I've heard they are like a mild cabbage. Good for wraps and such.
Not yet!
Awesome video Love you guys you inspire me so much
That was lovely enjoyed this video
Those plants that he is talking about growing like bamboo is probably river cane. Especially with them saying part of the property is swampy.
Doing a good job
What were they using the feed sacks for? I couldn't hear that part. Love it when you guys visit other homesteads.
They covered their tomatoes to protect from the late frost.
I wish i could start on mine already it's 1.75 acres
You can do it! 👍🏽
@@sccountrygirlhomesteadgard3516 yes l can . Thank you 😊 l will start to work on it.
Hard work always prevail
that was a great tour at your friends place, one thing does drive me crazy though is that you keep looking at the camera while your talking to someone. Are you making sure your camera is level or what? Just a little thing that I've noticed over the yr.
We do like to make sure we are recording the people that are talking.
So how much does it take to feed this family and what profit now do they rely on sales for their living it's short right now
😘😘😘 familia
