Love your hard working family! You all bless me, with the way you work together! We have expanded our garden.....and now have ducks on our family farm. We are growing! We are senior homesteaders....and we believe we all should be learning and sharing. That's how we grow. Also...I'm praying about the property....it is beautiful!
Mike and Lacy I really enjoy your videos. Y'all are truly an inspiration. It's so nice to hear your children say sir and ma'am, thank you and please. So many children aren't taught manners anymore. Good luck with the purchase of your new property. Keep up the good work, love watching your videos and thanks for sharing your lives with us. Sincerely!
Y'all have been very inspirational to me. I live in the suburbs of Houston, and my homesteading dreams are still just beyond my reach, but I'm learning all I can from you guys right now. The way you're healing with herbs is great for my education as well. I look forward to your videos every day. Thank you! And GROW ON!!!
Thank you for being a good example of keeping a good attitude with a sense of humor and over coming obstacles. I am impressed with your endurance. Running all over the place all day and getting things done while filming.
I am 80 and just started gardening again this year. I really enjoy it. You have been a great inspiration. You have a wonderful attitude. I wish I had grown up on a farm. I enjoy being close to nature. It is wonderful that your children can share your experiences including difficulties. I am being a homesteader vicarariously.
Minute 18:30... love how Micah is beginning to take pride in his contribution ... with feeding the chickens.. it shows... way to go Micah!! Keep up the good work!!
Oh...Mike and Lacie...being able to purchase a portion of the neighbor's property would be such a blessing for you guys! I hope and pray that you and the Seller can reach a mutually-acceptable agreement! Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA -- 5/26/2020.

Hi guys! So happy to hear the door is open for some new property. We prayed for 3 days for you about it. Love to see you with the kids out working. Hopefully they will carry on your tradition! We have our tomato’s, peppers and cukes going strong here in Michigan. You inspired us to do 3x more than last year. We even added a compost pile in our little senior citizens mobile home park👍😀. Lot’s of rain here also. 4” in the last week. Hope it dries out for you. When do you typically get your first tomato harvest in NC? We have been using all organic fish emulsion fertilizer with good results. Take care my friends, we enjoy watching you guys all the time. No ‘mainstream media’ or sitcoms on our TV😉👍. God bless. Love from Michigan
Thank you so much for your prayers!! We usually start getting tomatoes in June. We already have some on the vines, looking forward to them ripening up.

You and others like you got me growing in large containers in my back yard last year and even did a fall garden too. I've been reaping the benefits ever since. Adding more containers when I can get them I'm in my 70"s and gardening again
Me too Dora!!! I had to garden in containers because of my age. My mind says you can do it, but my body says the opposite, lol. My best containers have been bins from the dollar store and garbage containers are even taller. The taller the better! I drill holes and put in old branches and logs from the nut trees, and sometimes old broken clay pots and stones. This way I don't have to use all my soil bags. Even better, when I can get free mulch from the local tree service, and fill the bottoms of my planters. Again, it saves me on using all my bags of soil. When you have a need to garden, you always find a way to make it happen. Gardening again too!

My biggest garden yet! I have switched to square foot gardening in the ground. I think I have about 30% more in the vegetable garden and herb garden. I still will be planting the flowers. Thanks for encouraging me to just grow stuff! 😊💕
I have started Aa Vegetables herbs and flowers Garden last April at my church. It about 60`X 80`.We have got lettuce and mustard greens and we are growing a lot of more vegetables in the garden.

I was already growing stuff before i started watching other people on youtube. But i searched on youtube to find other people that liked growing stuff like i do. And every new thing i started growing i watched videos to learn what each plant likes. I lived on my grandfathers farm as a kid and watched him provide for his animals, and work in his garden. He didn't teach me anything about working on the farm, but i watched how he did everything, so he was my first teacher on farming anyways. I watched my grandmother prepare the chickens to cook and eat. They was probably the first to inspire me to eat healthy. I grew my first plant inside the house i was living in at age 11. I took the seeds from a tomato plant and planted them in a flower pot, then i watered them, then i put the pot in the window. So i knew i needed to plant it in dirt, it needed water, and it needed sun. The one thing i didn't know, that it needed to be pollinated. But i learned from that mistake and did better when i grew my first garden outside. One of the things i learned, that different plants grew better in different soil. Because i have lived in many states. Fruits grew better down south. Grains grew better up north. Is a longer growing season down south. But it rained more up north, and the dirt was almost black. Down south the dirt was rusty in color. But no matter what place i lived plants grew. I have never lived out west in the desert, where the cactus grow. But i imagine its hard to grow a garden in that dry dirt. So i will stay in the states that i know i can grow a healthy garden every year.
I am a longtime Gardner , animal and chicken raiser. Your entire family brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart watching your vlogs. Happy family, hard working family. I'm inspired to continue to have a garden of vegetables, herbs, fruit trees, flowering bushes , roses, annual and perennial flowers and my chickens even though I have serious health issues. Keep on making great vlogs and I will continue to watch them. Good luck on acquiring more land
that land is beautiful..will be a wonderful addition to your homestead..I see the children are really getting more involved on the farm..so nice to see the family working together..I love your love.
Keeping you all in my prayers for the additional pasture space as well as staying healthy and safe. Too bad I don't live in NC; I sure would've loved to buy some of that red leaf romaine lettuce. I've never had the red leaf romaine and never knew it came in that variety. Here in NY I've only seen the green leaf romaine which they sell in many local markets. There is red and green leaf lettuce variety which I do like as well. Those ducks and chickens are getting a real treat lol.
Lettuce know what you want to grow....... That's would look great on a t-shirt 😁.... Y'all are good peeps.. doing it the right way every day. We all need to support and appreciate our farmers, our growers... And don't forget the bee's 🐝🧡 with out the local farmers and co-ops, many can go hungry. Be proud, because what you do takes alot of hard work.. this is the cycle of life people .. seeding, planting, growing needs to happen, just a fact... I know when I watch y'all, I just feel better inside, and I want to help the world in what ever way I can 😊 Keep rockin beautiful family💚.. ☮️💚😊
You have inspired me to start my own little medicinal garden. My heart was broken last year when we had to move from our rental due to a house fire. I had worked hard all spring and summer on my first raised bed garden and even had a hand full of chickens that I raised from chicks. Boy was I sooo excited when I harvested my first tomatoes and when my girls layed their first egg. I was finally in a place where I could have a garden and chickens that I had been wanting for a long time. It broke my heart to have to give it all up. But I still have to feed my gardening addiction somehow. So I started a medicinal container garden on my porch. I hadn't thought much about the medicinal properties of plants until I started watching you guys.
@@thowsales it depends on how many birds it take to feed the family per meal. Are they more likely to eat 2 a meal and have chicken 3-4 times a week. So 12 birds a week but maybe they will let us know.
YES you have inspired us. I got the idea from you about the landscaping fabric so I can grow more food and not have to be weeding so much. Like I told you in another post I have heart disease and am working on that now. I don't have a lot of energy, but the energy I do have I wont have to be weeding these huge spots. We're already getting cucumbers and squash off our plants here in the deep south. I also downloaded a vid on my you tube so I could show others my gardens. My allergies was really bothering me the day I did it so please ignore that and the rushing I did trying to video the gardens since I don't know how to edit my vids or don't have an editing program either. I do have a little computer knowledge just haven't messed with an editing program yet and don't know of one to use. It took 24 hours to download that 5 min. vid with our internet!!! Thank you guys for sharing!
Micah's little voice and his uh huh is the cutest sound ever. I wait to hear if he will say it in every video. I wish I could come to the homesteading life conference. I went to the first one and loved it. but I don't have a companion this year (again). I have some health issues and need that other person. I did that first year. I know it will be a smashing success and I wish you all safe travels.
I planted 3 raised beds and it is going well so far. Thanks for being an inspiration to me to just plant. I’m loving it and sending prayers for your new property
I watch your vlogs as if I am watching a tv show! I love your energy. I am African-American and I mention that because my mother was one of 13 children who grew up on a farm in Pitt County North Carolina and did not really leave the farm until she went away to boarding school for high school and then left for college in another state. She from time to time would talk about life on the farm which I never got to see, so I can imagine how life was for my mom and her siblings, but I don't think that she enjoyed the lovely out house, and having to cut through the field to get to it! Mom went away to college in the 1940's. Ah, the good life, as one by one they left the farm. I am walking down memory lane for my mom. Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing part of your Mom's story with us!! Wow! Thirteen children. It was definitely a different time in the 40's. Thank you again!
Tell Josiah his "Lettuce know what you wanna grow", is a great tee shirt idea...hint, you better trade mark that pdq. I am planting my biggest garden ever, up to two beds and 8 containers. Plan to add 2 more large beds and 2 more small beds. I am most anxious about my Kohlrabi, I have never tried it and think it is going to be awesome. No luck germinating fennel and I am sad about that. Beautiful property Mike and Lacie, fingers crossed and a prayer for luck. Good night.
Your new land is nice. The dino birds are growing fast. My two kiddos favorite dinosaur is velaco raptor and they like to help in the garden. Stay Blessed 🙂
So nice to see the weather is getting better, we are growing some tomatoes, okra, and greens(not sure of the names). Love the family video and kids are too funny and helpfull.
Your kids are the cutest! That little Micah is so very funny he cracks me up. I love seeing kids happy and enjoying life. You have great kids who love helping out around the homestead.
Can't wait till I get some land that I can grow layers and broilers on. currently have my veggies in 5 gallon buckets since that is all the room I have.
You guys are a awesome family👍. I’m a first time gardener and I’m really enjoying it . I’ve learned a lot from you guys and it’s feels great to get out there in my garden and watching it grow. I don’t have chickens so I do the best I can . Thank you all for your great advice, you have definitely encouraged me to get out there and do it 🙏🏻
You have helped me realize that a garden won't get made without my effort. My meager garden is finally planted and I'm waiting on the plants to germinate. Thank you for helping me help you. We are all here to help each other.
I've been watching you, the Rhodes, and Roots and Refuge starting at the beginning of this pandemic. I wanted to just learn more about homesteading since it's a goal of mine eventually (once we're done with this military life lmao). You all have inspired me to make the time to garden this year and to feel blessed for what I have now! I made room for almost 20 tomato plants, sweet corn, peppers, HERBS, and so much more. Thank you for showing how you live!!
You have inspired me to build a raised bed garden and plant leafy greens and to eat healthier fresh veggies, you also inspiring with your positive out look on life is a blessing , your children are very positive as well. The property is nice.
Well, Lacey, & Mike inspired me in so many ways after watching you for quite a few years now. Today I ordered my first baby chicks. I’ve had chickens from when I was a little kid, and then stopped as an adult and now I’ve had them for like seven years. I’ve never done the baby chicks by myself ever and I’m very excited !!! Thank you all for sharing your lives with us to inspire us and give us tricks to move forward in all aspects . 💕🙏💕🥚🐣🐓🙏🤗👍🙏💜💪🏻
CONTINUED PRAYERS THAT IT ALL MOVES FORWARD. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE SUCH AN INSPIRATION TO SO MANY INCLUDING ME AS I PLANTED MY FIRST GARDEN IN OVER 25 YEARS IN MY BACKYARD IN FLORIDA. I AM BATTLING THE HUMIDITY AND HEAT WITH LITTLE TO NO RAIN RIGHT NOW BUT I'M NOT GIVING UP.
I actually started my first garden. I have about 6 or so different vegetables growing. It's been fun. I'm learning alot. Thanks to you . I also made up a small jar on elderberry honey.
How awesome you both are coming to Missouri that’s three hours away from me where the Homesteaders conferences is hope you all have a wonderful visit here
Thanks for the tip to use a fan to dry the lettuce! I harvested enough to feed 5 families and my neighbor who lives alone at 80+ years old. I gave them all zucchini, yellow squash, radishes, cucumbers, carrots and lettuce. And I will have all that again in about a week or so. Thanks for all the tips you've given over the past several months. My garden thanks you too lol.
I have 23 cornish cross chicks , 7 two month old assorted hen chicks, 5 Americana hen chicks that I was able to put under my broody hen, 1 rooster , two factory rescue hens, and one 5 year old hen that I actually got a few eggs from this year. I dont eat the hen's they just live as long as they live. I have a small garden with onions, potatoes, spinich, kale, collards, tomatoes, a few boc choy, peppers so yes all of you homesteaders on you tube inspired me. Keep up the good work. Your kids are great.
Great family farming video. While there are a lot of couples that do videos, I think that your children participating encourages people who have kids to seek the farming dream.
I am currently in a 3 bedroom apartment in NS Canada..started growing tomatoes, peppers and jalapenos in containers on my front room window. Have saved money and have been watching for small property in which the kiddos and I can purchase and really plant spread out. You are inspiring and uplifting family. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and life as homesteaders.
Hello Dickson Family. I would like to take the time out to let you guys know how much you have inspired me and changed my life. I have always dreamed of having my own farm and although I have not accomplished that feat yet, I have recently purchased 1/2 acre property and have dubbed it, Punchynella’s Homestead. You are always telling us to, “Grow... Grow... Grow More”! And although I am doing it on a small scale, I started 99% of my garden from seeds, .5% from kitchen scraps, and .5% from purchased starts. It has been an extremely rainy season this year here in Southen Maryland. I am growing the following utilizing permaculture principles as much as I am able to: Orchard - Grapes, Hazelnut, Asian Chestnut, Figs, 2 types of Blueberries, 2 types of Plums, 2 types of Apples, and Pears. Herbs: Basil, Ginger Mint, Orange Mint, spearmint, various types of Oregano, Sage ( varied), Parsley, and Thyme, Bay Leaf, Rosemary, Cilantro, and Lavender. Vegetables- Eggplants, Sweet Pepper (purple, red, orange, yellow, and green), Spicy Peppers (varied), Spaghetti Squash, Longneck Squash, Butternut Squash, Pumpkin, Corn, Carrots, Cabbage, Peas (varied), Beans (varied), Radishes, Beets, Sweet Potato, Potato, Zucchini, Broccoli, Okra, Cauliflower, Garlic, Leeks, Ginger, Bok Choy, and Onion. Fruit - Cucumber (varied), Tomatoes (varied), Watermelon, and Cantaloupes. As a first time gardener, I was a bit apprehensive, but lo and behold, I have a green thumb. Thanks for encouraging me to start. It is the best thing walking out onto my own property and being able to eat without worry. My goal is to create food independence, in a sustainable way, that is self replicating. I will never look down on my small beginnings. I am just grateful I started. Thank you all so much. Much love!
my son wanted to wear a stegosaurus sweat shirt to school in fourth grade every day during cold months...I finally wrote his teacher and said he has other clothes but was determined to wear it and she said she had other children in school who loved a particular garment over others....he is 42 now and is on the search for a special red flannel shirt with exact pattern to replace the one falling apart....Oh Ms Griffith....he didn't outgrow this....back to your video, Mike and Lacey, your family is beautiful and the your patience with them will pay a big dividend. You are a go to for information and peaceful good old family values

That is a beautiful property!
Property looks beautiful & I bet my money 💰 On Mika I think 🤔 he won that race 😂 youth
Lettuce know what we want to grow? 💕💕 garlic, onions, tomatoes, lots of herbs, and many perennials. That's what's in my garden. Great job Josiah!😉
HI yes you got me started growing I just finished bulding my above ground boxes today, 66 and started growing hear in L.A.
Praying 🙏 that the land you all are seeking comes through. Expansion is a good thing! Really would've liked being able to help. Lettuce grow 🤗
Omigosh I just love watching you make chores into fun times. The kids are so happy to help...great work ethics being established by both of you.
great property. love the idea of ducks with chickens. the feeders are getting huge!
I know right
They must have a huge freezer
Hey anyone hear how some farmers are not plucking when they harvest? They de-skin them sell them as skinless. ???
So 50 feeder birds would give them almost a bird a week for a year. Or 2 birds a week for 5 months counting for 5 week months?
You all live the good life and are blessed with such great children.
Family came to see 5 acres I have forsale. They have been inspred to homestead watching RUclips
I am so glad that you can get some more property. Hope all goes as planned. My prayers and hopes are with you all.
I'm in the hospital now, but I love to do what I can when I get I! The inspiration and desire here, but I I am just waiting!!!!
I planted 3 raised beds and it is going well so far. Thanks for being an inspiration to me to just plant. I’m loving it and sending prayers for your new property
The "LETTUS" know what you like to grow was awesome........Your children are very inspiring with their enthusiasm ........great job kids.
You have great kids who love helping out around the homestead.
i have 10 hens on my patio . i am 77 had cancer twice now my kids are helping. learned a lot from you.
It's encouraging to watch you and your children work together. They are beautiful, and blessed.
Can't wait till I get some land that I can grow layers and broilers on. currently have my veggies in 5 gallon buckets since that is all the room I have.
Just keep planting just keep planting!
I’m looking for a small plot of land myself to grow on! Imagine that at my age 😂
Guess it’s never too late as long as your breathing ...
That is so awesome!
Congrats in advance on the new land. I know you all will get it.
Extendable fishing net is a HUGE HELP catching birds in chicken tractors!!!
whooohooo, like i said, THIRD TIMES A CHARM!!! so happy for you to get to spread your wings a bit!
You have inspired me to build a raised bed garden and plant leafy greens and to eat healthier fresh veggies, you also inspiring with your positive out look on life is a blessing , your children are very positive as well. The property is nice.
YES, Murray McMurray is the best place for Chickens, Ducks, Turkeys and Geese!! My go to Hatchery!
You've inspired me to seek holistic medicine a lot more. God bless
It is amazing how much they will eat by the time they go to freezer camp; I like any Vegisaur
All the very best on your new venture.
I’m so happy for you, things are working out with the property.
Ya all inspired this Alaskan to move out of the city back to the country. Growing my food in the city is not the same in hauling my water. Plus off grid is a way better adventure for this journey. And much more classy! 💜✨
Wow....What a nice family.....and God has blessed you in all kind of ways....Will continue to pray for all good things to go your way...!!!
Branching out, new adventures to come.

Hi.... Mike Dickson, thank you for sharing your video homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🎥👍👍👍
You have been a huge inspiration to me. Not only is it inspiring to watch you grow food, make your gardens, work on your home but I also really like the way the whole family is involved in all of it. It is so good to see people raising their children and teaching them the ways of life. Great job! I love watching your videos.
