So glad you are back, almost all settled in your new home, we are looking forward to more of your great videos. Your love of crafting, quilting and sewing comes through in all your good tricks and tips. Thank you for generously sharing your wealth of knowledge especially always considering a budget. Oh, by the way your hair looks fabulous. Have a great weekend.
Thank you for following up so quickly. I , too was confused by the washers, but it makes perfect sense now. I look forward to Monday to see your new quilt.
Thanks for sharing that, I thought that would be how it was done, but sometimes there are many ways to do things. So thank again for taking the time to show us that.
So glad you are able to come back! I don't have a design wall, but I would like to have one. Thank you for these 4 suggestions and the magnet tool. I tried it with my embroidery frame magnet but it must not be as strong as it needs to be. Going to find a stronger one. Need this to work for me. Lol
Hey Linda, how are you?? Great to hear from you! hmmm......it may require a bit of a stronger magnet???? Not quite sure how strong the embroidery frame magnets are.
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead another tip, i use the same sort of tapes on my ironing board (hard surface) and i taped them with transparent masking tape to my tables.
I used felt! It comes wide enough to cover a foam board. I only needed to buy enough for the length of the board. And fabric sticks to it just as well as batting or flannel.
Hey Denese! I would, you could drape some batting or some flannel or even a cheaper table cloth over it and pin it to the back while using. If you wanted to get real fancy you could sew together a slip cover custom to the size of your board, then just fold it right up along with the board for storage :)
So the cotton Batten is number 5. I have number 6 Use the back side of a cheap plastic table cloth it cost from about 3 to 5 dollars. Its disposable too. Needs to be thumb tack flat against a wall to work.
Yes, cotton batting could be #5 hahaaa :) I really like your idea too......making #6!! Someone else did the same thing as you with the table cloth. Theirs was red/white checkerboard on the front....and you could see through to the backside, so it gave a grid...I thought that was awesome :)
Hi Ida! The one that I fold up I left the fabric off while it was folded. When I'm ready to use it, I unfold the wall, and drape a flannel sheet over the front and just pin it around to the back, pulling it snug to the wall :)
Thank you so much, Lisa! This design wall is such a good idea. Are you at all worried about the straps on the back that hold the fabric taut leaving indents in the wall with design wall being so tight up against the wall?
Hey Christy, thanks for watching! I would say no.....only because even though the wall is snug against the wall.....it's not SOOOOO tight against the wall. Now....I could be wrong, I can't see behind the wall to make 100% sure.....and I'd really hate to take down the wall to look hahahaa......but we only tightened the screws with washers just enough to pull it snug....we didn't want the washers to sink into the foam on the front side.....so it's only snug :)
My husband is going to be build me a design wall. Been watching your videos. You are so great at explaining everything. Thank you for your time.
Amazing! I was also wondering about how he hung it as well. Thank you so very much for the update!
Our pleasure!
thank you for showing that. it was my question too. thank you for this video. so helpful.

You are so welcome, thanks for watching Anne!
I love your tutorial on your design wall the large one very good information thanks a bunch❣️🧵✂️🥰
You’re welcome 😊
i have the same, and it is very useful, what i add to it is the paper meter of Ikea on the top, bottom, and sides. i find it useful.
hmmmm, I'm going to have to check out Ikea!! Thanks for passing along the tips :)
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead i do use few on each side, and only change the number from the second tape on.
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead As well, i think you can have them in any hardware store if they are nearer to you.
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead another tip, i use the same sort of tapes on my ironing board (hard surface) and i taped them with transparent masking tape to my tables.
Thank you Lisa..I was wondering how you anchored it to the wall ..it was the washer that threw me ...but it’s all quite clear now 😘💐
hahaha.....leave it to me to leave that part out!! Glad this second video helped :)

ohhhh felt is a great idea!! Thanks for passing that along...maybe someone will come along and see your idea, that would be awesome!
Thank you! Love the videos! Quick question... would you cover the foldable one with something, and if so, how would you do that?

@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead now thats a really good idea with the checker board.

Hi Lisa, one more question. Is the design board attached to the wall strong enough to hold a wet quilt for the purpose of blocking the quilt?
no the weight of the wet quilt would fall
Lisa I am wonder how you cover the potable design wall that you fold up? Did you put fabric on yours?
Hi Ida! The one that I fold up I left the fabric off while it was folded. When I'm ready to use it, I unfold the wall, and drape a flannel sheet over the front and just pin it around to the back, pulling it snug to the wall :)

You're welcome! Thanks for watching my video Ivelisse :)
Do you think you could use a microfiber sheet??
You know, I'm not sure. Cotton fabric clings to flannel....I'm not sure it would do that to microfiber or not??
I would love to have the pattern of the quilt hanging up on you design board
Hi Cindi! I'm going to share a link to the playlist for that art quilt here: ruclips.net/p/PLbK4Frmd7S5f-ewScdu8DUsxY5HXU6W2E
