I'VE ran a Speeco cat 1 quick hitch for 11 yrs now on JD 2305 & have had nothing but great success with it. Any older implements that weren't QH compatable I welded brackets to upgrade to QH style.
Yes Courtney, the quick hitch is absolutely the first item to buy for any tractor owner. Not needing to purchase bushings would've saved me over $300.00, so this speeco has to be the only 1 to purchase. And oh by the way, we have a speeco wood splitter, it has been going strong 6 years, & it's got a "made in America" sticker on it. Really need to wave the flag right now......
Did some digging & found this info on Tractor Mike. Class 0 up to 20 HP Upr & Lwr link are 5/8" pins, Class 1 20-45 HP Upr link is 3/4" & Lwr is 7/8", Class 2 45-100 Hp Upr Link is 1.0" & Lwr is 11/8", Class 3 80 & over HP Upr link is 1/1/4" & Lwr is 17/16"
Pats quick hitch is way more versatile. Try running a Pequea rotary rake with that hitch installed... I have to remove it every time I rake hay, sucks, plus I have the one w/bushings, even worse.
The reason that the Cat. 1 quick hitches have the lower pin slots and the upper hook slot made at Cat. 3 pin sizing is because that is what the "ASAE S278.6 DEC94 (SAE J909 JUN93)" calls out for Cat. 1 quick hitches. That is why they are called standards, ...so that any product that claims to conform to that standard is made to those dimensions and tolerances. The Spēēco that you offer is more convenient, and will save some money, for sub-compact and compact tractor owners that have Limited Cat. 1, and Cat. 1, 3-point linkage, but it does not conform strictly to the ASAE standard. That said, it is a good solution for the issue of having to buy bushings for every implement to get a proper fit to other "standard" quick hitches.
This answer is the equivalent of saying "because I said so". I've never heard of a reason why Category 1 attachments need to suddenly become Category 3 attachments to work with a Category 1 quick hitch. Seems like a money grab to me.
@@GoodWorksTractors I do agree with you on that. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The only good reason that I can think of for the ASAE standard for Cat. 1 to have been adopted this way is so that farmers could use their Cat. 3 pins with Cat. 1 implements on a Cat. 1 quick hitch, back when there were more farmers with Cat. 3 equipment than there were people (homeowners & hobby farmers) with Cat. 1 equipment. Also, I would venture a guess that there was more influence exerted by "Big AG" proponents on the ASAE committee that made the standards in the first place. Basically, not too concerned about any issues that would affect the aforementioned homeowners & hobby farmers. Keep up the good work Courtney!
@@warped2875 Soooo - Can any of you guys think of any reason I may NOT want to go with the Speco? I'm new to this stuff and have a few implements on order with my tractor. Will all of the toys I buy basically fit on a CAT 1 QH?
@@warped2875 Thanks. I have seen several people state that they don't know if it will work with their tiller (we bought a tiller) as it sets about 4" further back and the PTO shaft was set-up for the three-point and may not be long enough?
First let me say I am a subscriber and I like to watch your videos. I have been looking for this QH for some time. I would see them advertised by dealers but when you talk to them there answer is oh no we don't or haven't carried them for a long time. So I bought a Harbor Freight model you see on the internet all the time. It didn't work well took it back. I still looked around couldn't find one. I herd about this SpeeCo model from a you tube channel but still couldn't find one. So I just recently bought a SpeeCo QH but it has the larger lower hooks. Should have waited a little longer.
Love the page and all the great tractor info you share. The info on the Speeco quick hit had me looking in the Alberta market for one (shipping/exchange and customs would be beast if I ordered from you, sorry). Found one at Princess Auto. Got it home set it up on my 1025R. Bought a tiller and when to pick it up off the trailer and low and behold Speeco made a design change. Cat 3 connection and the provide the first set of bushings. Did your supplier do the same??
I got another brand that doesn't take bushings and it was delivered with a label slapped on it. Mine was fine, but others complained about the handles missing the rubber sleeves and can't remember the other complaints.
Not sure if this idea is out there or not so forgive if it is. Like the idea of not having to buy bushings. I replaced the two bolts in the top U-link with 2 hitch receiver pins to make any adjustments way faster than taking bolts in and out. Add that to your hitch and make it even more versatile for cat 1
Does the quick hitch work on 1026r while mowing with mid mount mower? The 3 point arms are lowered while mowing. Just wondering if it would drag in the all the way lowerd position. Thanks
i have a 2520 and i have mowed with my jd quick hitch on for yrs. it will drag the ground if u lower it the whole way down-ok. but i mowed at my #7 and it never dragged -so i don't see why ur 1026r would. good luck
Great video, I don’t need a quick hitch right now but if I do, I know where to get one. I have a 2003 JD 4110 with turf tires on it, any idea where I can find a set of R4 industrials?
Love this channel... your videos are top notch! Isn't the Land Pride QH10 all set for use with no bushing? Even better the QH15 with adjustable top link ability? Am I missing something?
If you get a hitch that is cat 1 and some of your stuff may be a cat 3 then you’d have to change the pins on the equipment. So it’s either gonna be buying bushings or pins really. You may get lucky and everything you have is cat 1.
I am looking to buy a quick hitch right now. One of these would be nice. I am in Kalamazoo. How do I get one? I can't seem to find an address. Can you contact me?
Cool. I’ve never seen a potato plow work in reverse 😇 Does that put them back in if you go forward? 😱 glad you got your hands in the real cat 1 pin quick hitches again. The only other one I’ve seen doesn’t have the upper adjustability. (Sorry to bust your chops--great channel)
It might take all the tractor channels on RUclips to “suggest “ Deere, Kubota, Case etc. to agree on a “standard” for a quick hitch that they and their respective “implement” companies can design towards.
Just bought a new John Deere 1025 R and wanted your opinion on implements for starting a garden in new soil Virgin soil what’s the best way of breaking it up I do have a tiller: The ground is hard Texas clay soil: thanks for your comments really enjoy your channel
$400!? yeah ok they can keep it.... that would buy several sets of bushings.... you cant claim no bushing is an advantage if they raise the price so much that it negates that savings!
Great Video but a bit misleading! After watching your video I ordered the black Speeco Cat 1 Quick hitch. It came with bushings. I was first confused as to why I had bushings until I did my own research and found that Speeco carries two Cat 1 Quick hitches. the one you are advertising is actually called "Speeco E-Hitch", does not require the bushings. The traditional Quick Hitch is "Speeco CAT 1 Quick Hitch" which requires the bushings. So, to your viewers, please make it clear as to what model they would order for what they want.
You didn't order it from me, so how did I mislead you? The link for the correct quick hitch is in my listing. If you would have bought it from me, then you would have been all set :)
If you think about the pin size problem, the reason isn't exactly rocket science. You can bush a class one pin up to class 3 hook, but you can't bush a class 3 pin down to a class one hook. So ... a class 3 hook can fit anything but a class one is only gonna fit a class one ... Ergo, versatility ...
What Cat 3 attachment are you putting on a Cat 1 tractor? Cat 3 attachments are sizes to fit 150HP plus Ag tractors. Way, way, way too big for any compact tractor. A John Deere 1, 2, 3, and most 4 Series tractors will only fit Cat 1 attachments, therefore only Cat 1 pin size.

Try greyhound shipping. You have to pickup and drop at the station but the price for bulky items is reasonable
Where can I get those brass bushings? All mine are steel.
