    Playthrough Rules:
    1. Only my starter in battle
    2. No items in battle*
    3. No glitches or exploits*
    4. No Double-Team TM before level 100*
    Other rules:
-- *Pokeballs & Pokedolls are allowed in battle
-- *The badge-boost glitch is not restricted at all
-- *Skipping the Rocket Hideout & Marowak is allowed
-- I play the game at 4x game speed (238 frames per second)
-- My Pokemon has perfect DVs
-- The Trash-Can-Puzzle is automatically solved so times are not affected by RNG
-- The bike is allowed (the bike skip is not)
-- Skipping the bike is not allowed
-- Saving between league members is allowed
-- If the solo Pokemon faints and I choose to blackout it counts towards my reset counter
    *Double-Team:
-- Almost every Pokemon can learn Double-Team through TM
-- The TM can be purchased in Celadon
-- Using it would centralize the meta
-- Every Pokemon would use it to overcome tough battles at lower levels
    -- It raises evasion
-- It triggers the badge boost
-- Banning the TM allows Pokemon who learn it through level up to use it
-- I believe evasion is part of Pokemon and shouldn't be banned entirely
-- I don't want the videos to all be double-team spam though, that's not fun or entertaining
-- Only two Pokemon learn Double-Team through level up: Pikachu & Scyther
-- Minimize is the other evasion raising move, these Pokemon learn it through level up:
-- Clefairy, Clefable, Grimer, Muk, Chansey, Staryu
    Yellow Version changes from Red/Blue:
    1. You cannot use Dig/Escape Ropes in Bill's House or the Pokefan Club
    2. You cannot talk to the trainers in Blaine's gym to battle them
    3. Surge, Sabrina, and Blaine do not have Good AI
    4. The Elite Four have better movesets
    5. Koga, Sabrina, Blaine, and Giovanni have higher level teams
    6. Blaine doesn't use Super Potions are full HP
    7. The rival picks his eeveelution based on the outcome of the first two battles.
-- Lose in the lab: Vaporeon
-- Win in the lab and skip route 22: Flareon*
-- Win in both locations: Jolteon
-- *You cannot lose on route 22 because you blackout
    Terms:
    -- STAB
    -- Same-Type-Attack-Bonus - a 1.5x damage multiplier
    -- Stat Experience
-- The Gen1&2 equivalent of effort values. You can invest in all stats until they max
    out at 65535
    -- DVs or Determinate Values
-- The Gen1&2 equivalent of IVs (individual values), these range from 0-15
    Resources:
    -- Gen 1 Stat Calculator: pycosites.com/...
-- All Trainer Pokemon have IVs (DVs) of 89888 (hp, atk, def, spd, spc)
-- All Trainer Pokemon have EVs of 0
    -- Gen 1 Crit Rates: www.smogon.com...
-- Crit rate is determined by dividing base speed by 512
-- High crit rate moves determine their rate by dividing base speed by 64
-- All crits have a 1/256 to fail, even if the rate is 100%
-- Crits don't multiple damage by 2, it's a formula based on level

Wow this was a cool video, but Scott I've gotta warn ya: you're getting the speedrunner brainrot :p. dw I have it too its fine. Seeing the optimization in this run was really cool and its cool to see how much more you could push this run down further. The EXP routing was pretty great! You really planned this out and the effort paid off!
You also ran against the runners bane: making cuts to consistency because you know the speed payoff is gonna be great. And 4 minutes was a hell of an improvement for it.

    • @ScottsThoughtsPokemon
      @ScottsThoughtsPokemon  Год назад +7

Yeah, cuts to consistency for speed really come out when doing the speedrun races. With these I try to do as little as that as possible, but sometimes it’s just needed for a competitive time. Especially with a slow growth rate mon.

    • @lamiaprincess6371
      @lamiaprincess6371 Год назад +2

@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Yeah especially for running RPGs. The one I ran had a really rough couple of boss fights where the strategies were like...consistent enough that you needed to go for them but not consistent enough to make the number of runs that got through them particularly high. It's always really frustrating haha. It gets even worse than a PB has a really good fight cause then you just see red numbers and feel bad.
Sometimes you just roll a coinflip or a 33% and let RNG take the wheel.

SS tier won't solve the issue. If we take the old tierlist as baseline we still have A LOT of S tier pokemon coming and that's not even considering great pokemon that Scott never done (from powerhouses such as Mew and Mewtwo to stuff like Poliwhirl which should fall in S tier alongside it's evolution line).
The S tier at the moment is doing the B tier job of holding the most amount of pokemon and that won't work longterm.

Yeah… like it gives neutral type matchup against grass too. But it’s pretty useless offensively and it gives Gyarados its 4x electric weakness which in Yellow version really messes with it. In RB there aren’t really any prominent electric threats…

gyarados was my facourite pokemon when i was a kid ;) i barely knew any meachanics though, i like him and starmie because of their move coverage, also, i always overleveled the gyarados to no end ;D when i came back to playing pokemon (~15 years later ^^) i was really disappointed when i realized he kind of sucks.
now my favourite is tauros, mainly because i never used it as a kid and always had the impression that its shit. i would have dunked on all my classmates back then if i had that on my team instead of the gyarados with the 4 5 ap moves ;D

I love that in Gen 1 if you use Swords Dance you don’t want to crit, the move that is supposed to increase crits quarters the chance of crits, there is the move Slash which is high base power but also crits more, and that Scyther has the Swords Dance move so it wants to lower its crit chance and has Focus Energy.

    • @ScottsThoughtsPokemon

That is just a time save. I unlock sieges door because it takes different amounts of time based on nothing but rng so this ruins comparison accuracy. Blaine’s guy doesn’t skew results in the same way. So it is possible, but not a good fit for my content.

Why does your timer speed up and slow down? Is it synced to the frame rate or is it just from editing in post. Most of the time it seemed to be moving much slower than real time.

    • @ScottsThoughtsPokemon

The timer is filmed into the footage while I play. The footage is then syncronized with my script so it is sped up / slowed down all the time.
