Can you beat Pokémon HeartGold with only Unevolved Pokemon using Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules?
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset: (from FlygonHQ)
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only hatch one Baby Pokémon per route where there is a grass encounter.
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset: (from FlygonHQ)
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

This is an insane surprise! I love your style of explaining everything so these types of challenge runs feel like the perfect new type of content for the main channel!
It switched out because you hit it with a move that a different pokemon was immune to - I’m not sure all of the ways gen 4 switch ai works but if you surf on something and they have a water absorb mon in the back, they can switch to it. Immunities and resistances like this enable the AI switches - some gens the switching-in mon also needs to have a super effective move on the pokemon you have out.

@@pikminman13 The point of the text is that people who mouse over the thumbnail in stead of clicking (which plays the video preview without sound), can get an idea about the gist of the video, which increases the likelihood that they'll click it. It's standard youtuber stuff.
@@coolnecromancer195% of people that watch pokemon videos know what a nuzlocke is. you don't need to explain it. people that don't can spend the 3 seconds looking it up. you can already get the gist of the video from the title alone.

I love watching FlygongHG's and Silph Spectre's nuzlocke videos. Seeing you participate in nuzlockes is very welcomed.

Ooh, this is an interesting nuzlocke challenge. I can only imagine how difficult this challenge is with single stage pokemon.
As others may have mentioned, the rapid text on screen for each word you said is a bit painful to look at. In particular, I have Epilepsy, so I had to quickly look away from the screen. As such, may I ask if you could reconsider perhaps toning down the editing at the beginning of these videos if you wish to make more of these challenge videos?

Actually, the first ones were better than the current one IMO. It is just that this kind of content is much different than the type of content that got you most of your subscribers. 19:03 I feel weird and sad every time I see one Nuzlocker running away from the legendaries instead of catching them, and not using them in the challenge if they manage to catch them.
But I appreciate the effort. It reminds me of Hernán Cortés and his strategy of "burning their ships" to compromise with his troops to conquer or die in the attempt.

I just finished the video, congratulations on beating the remake of the first generation of Pokémon that I played during my life. It seems pretty risky to sacrifice a lot of Pokémon in the final battle but at least I'm glad you made it.

Fear Rattata, Swords dance gligar, dude they didnt realize they were coming in for a Slaughter. For real though, this is the most efficient and incredibly well thought out Nuzlocke I have ever seen. Every single battle looks to be strategized, you didnt wing anything. I love that.

It's so weird seeing people say that beating the Johto portion of Gen 2 means you beat the game. I get that there's a credits roll afterward, but I know that nobody I knew back in the gen 2 days ever thought it was the end of the game; it was always beating Red.
Its just a huge slug unfortunatly. Kanto Gym leaders are too low of a level to be a threat except blue. And then you have to grind for an eternity to get up to reds level. Grinding in HG SS was really slow because the highest level wild pokemon were mid fourties. You can run the elite four over and over, but even that takes ages for a full team. Also hard to pul off in a Nuzlocke
Love your videos; your explanations of battle mechanics/choices are always incredibly thorough, easy to follow, but very efficient (As in, you don't meander with your words or add too much fluff). It's the perfect balance and it's the perfect thing to watch while I'm drawing. Thanks for making such awesome content!

no "click and win" doesn't mean bad. if anything, it feels great using a pokémon that requires unobvious stats.
that aside, something I've always thought about these challenges is that level cap should be the mean level of the leader's pokémon, deducted by 1 per extra pokémon (e.g. if the leader's mean level is 30 and they use 3 pokémon, you can have 2x 31, 4x 29, 6x 27), not the level of their ace. I always feel strange watching a whole team of pokémon at such high level in a challenge

The poliwrath probably switched in because ai saw that you used a water type move the previous turn, and then saw that there was a pokemon in the back that had an immunity ability for water, that being poliwrath's water absorb. It's an interesting ai mechanic that is present in every pokemon game since at least gen 3, and I even designed a portion of a boss fight around it in the rom hack I'm making.
I was doing a nuzlocke of hgss and I got a geodude specifically to blow up on Whitney’s miltank and it stomp flinched me all the way down to I didn’t get to explode💀

Wow, absolutely amazing use of many underrated strategies in nuzlocks. Definitely one of best runs I've seen.
I think for pacing, it'd be nice if the intro was split up into a series of rapid fire words, then a string of words appearing on the screen all at once. The rapid fire thing for the whole intro is a little exhausting. Good editing, though, it looked nice.
Fun fact: out of the 23 Pokémon that Johto gym leaders got, only 4 are from Johto.

I loved this video! I’d love to see more like it in the future, your way of explaining things really makes this a great nuzlocke video. I once swept Whitney using only Geodude by Rock Polishing and Defense Curling on Clefairy and then Rolling Out for the win. I understand yours is probably more consistent though because Clefaury could have Metronomed Water Pulse or something

Liked the video! Although some of the text at the start was illegible one word at a time and had a very distracting transition. Okay when it was small, but awkward to read when it was large. You may also want to consider dot points for rules (getting a lot of info across quickly - like that chart you use for tier explanations).
Freezai your channel will pop like no other if you pursue this kind of edited content and keep your soul while doing it
