This is very good music. I despise when metalheads think that if its not chugged up and heavy that its not good. This is atmospheric, ethereal, spacey. Intelligent music. Lovely
Between The Buried And Me, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Spawn Of Possession, Jethro Tull, Intervals, Meshuggah. I don't care if your comment was three months old, these bands (all they have in common that they are in some way "prog") are worth checking out ;)
I've heard of most of them but I'm grateful for the suggestions. I am always interested in something new. Thank you very much. Please take care of yourself.
Roy Wickiser Nemertines, The Weight Lifted, Russian Circles, Miroist, Shell From Oceanic, Even Marea, Cloudkicker,Haken, Pelican, Devin Townsend, Oceill and Black Crown Initiate are some other good ones. I would've put 'em in one post but I couldn't think of them off the top of my head.
Ever since I've heard Between the Buried and Me's "Mirrors," I've been hoping more and more bands come out that sound like this. God damn this is good music.
Saw these Guys when I saw Dream Theater a few years back. Great show. Very Technical. Thoroughly set the stage for Dream Theater to come out and melt our faces.
Definitely check out their album "The Collective". Whales, Balkan, Black Hills, and Alpenglow are my favourites. The whole album is absolutely phenomenal though.
Man, seeing these guys with 3 and Cynic was one of the best concerts I've ever been too. I went to see Cynic, and left a fan of both 3 and Scale the summit.
This is one of those songs that for me takes about 10 listens to truly appreciate it. At first I wasn't impressed, just like I wasn't impressed with the Collective the very first time I heard it. Now that is my second favorite album of all time and this song is pretty much on repeat for me. STS just keeps writing incredible music. Can't wait for the new album. Just pre-ordered it yesterday. :D
This track sounds like you are plummetting through a raging thunderstorm... The wind blasts you through the rain, into vast ethereal halls hewn into the skies, supported by towering pillars of dark clouds, bellowing with thunder and illuminated by erratic lightning. You are belched out below the foreboding cover, into the open where hard sheets of rain lash put at you before beating on the distant ground beneath. Then up, through the granite mountains and above them, where only a muffled hint of the elemental war remains. The nacre sea of clouds extends from horizon to horizon, the nocturnal air only protruded by a calm wisp of lively air.
This song definitely doesn't need vocals. That said, the style in this one lends itself better to vocals than their earlier stuff, and I could see it working.
They don't need a vocalist. I used to not be a big fan on instrumental bands, but check one out live and you'll feel different, plus this kind of music is great when your trying to focus because you can enjoy the music and not worry about what the songs about, you can just feel it.
I don't necessarily disagree. If they're ever in my town i'll be checking them out and probably have a blast but I still like vocals. Then again you are right about listening to them at work. I'm going to give it a try :)
It's really quite possible that this music would not have been made if not for the boost the band got from touring with Dream Theater. It is both an awesome and troubling idea. So many great bands just never get a real chance to blossom like these guys so clearly have.
Man, I just stumbled across this and what a treat!!!, I keep playing it over and over. It's a pity that most of the comments here are about vocals - I say 'vocals shmocals' and 'less is more' (and any other cliches you can think of) etc etc, anyway this track has so much in it already it needs nothing else other than a really fucking loud PA to play it through. Hopefully everyone agrees with that! Sweet.
Prog is alive and well. I've been a musician for 30 years and the quality of today's music/musician is awful. Scale the Summit has reassured me that musical competency and imagination are still around. Count me as a fan.
Its all about visual pictures and emotions through instrumental. Scale the Summit takes you on an adventure, vocals dont. If youve got screaming at the centre point you cant think of much and most of the time you wish it werent there.
This is easily one of the best songs i have ever heard and my fav band is dream theater so you know its a huge thing for me to say You guys are efffinnnggg awsomeeee I love instrumentals for the same reason This is some maddddddddd shittttttttttttttttt Hope u guys keep makin shit like thiss
That tone is so fucking creamy. This album is going to win over those non instrumental guys with the heavier mix and heavier playing, keep the original fans, and reach new ears with a fresh new album. I'm so stoked!
That's an interesting take on BTBAM. Honestly their sound is constantly changing and always freaking incredible so it's probably pretty hard to lock them into a certain genre of music
Still check in sometimes... 2024
I feel old...
I was jammin' this album the year it was released.
100 percent. Bought it when it was released. My favorite album of theirs.
This is very good music. I despise when metalheads think that if its not chugged up and heavy that its not good. This is atmospheric, ethereal, spacey. Intelligent music. Lovely
***** Why don't we not hate on music at all and just listen to what we like and ignore the rest? That sounds like a much better idea.

Username is just.....I don't....pyrobagette. Andouille. Je ris de vous.
yes!
it's like the great classical music had finally found it's way in the thousand beams of light in electromagnetism.
Anyone else still listening and love it just as much now?
Forever
Still return to this whenever I need some inspiration and to not lose hope
Always
Hoy
2024 and I still listen to it
I'm looking for new music, hopping from suggestion to suggestion and I find this. Today is a good day.
Shades of Black, Walking Acrosd Jupiter, Interloper, Constructing Infinity, Chon, Plini, Sithu Aye, Trioscapes, Skyharbor.
You are awesome. Thank you very much.
I can listen this music thousand times a day!!!!
Ever since I've heard Between the Buried and Me's "Mirrors," I've been hoping more and more bands come out that sound like this.
God damn this is good music.
..my niggahh
+Cesar Sandoval My ninja...
Myke Nope between the buried and me are pretty amazing
Saw these Guys when I saw Dream Theater a few years back. Great show. Very Technical. Thoroughly set the stage for Dream Theater to come out and melt our faces.
2 mins and 10 seconds in and it passes my "Goosebumps" requirement for a good song/band
These guys are awesome. I really like the way the guitars compliment one another.
Love the artwork
It's so lead driven, A voice would get lost through the awesome music they're showcasing.
the ending really reminded me of Cloudkicker. simply beautiful.
This a thousand times. It's my dream for AAL and STS to go on tour together.
these guys are so fucking good, it takes actual talent to pull off the rhythm and beats going on here
Definitely check out their album "The Collective".
The concept they use is just ridiculously fantastic!
Awesome band!
Looking forward to listening their new album! :)
Crazy bass lines!
I agree
Im thankful to spotify for recommending this song to me, such masterpiece
Makes me proud to be from Houston Tx. Great band and young too, can't wait to hear what the future brings for them.
I can already tell this will be my album of the year if not the year and ever after
Finally, a band that's not afraid to let the music take centre stage!
its amazing that they're getting better and better.
The Collective was magic. This sounds like it will be even more magical.
I can only imagine what this will sound like on vinyl, it must be immaculate. Can't wait
Brilliantly written and performed, there best album yet, definitely looking forward to there future in the prog world
Preordered this baby on the limited edition vinyl. Can't fricken WAIT!
I can already tell that this album is gonna change my life.
4:06
I feel like something resonates within me, like a deep feeling man.
My God...what a bunch of fucking madness/beauty/soul/epicness this is... Can't wait to see them next month in good 'ol Austin,Tx.
SO MUCH FEEL
Absolutely amazing opening track. I'm always on a mission to find music which blows my mind, you guys have joined that pedigree. Utter brilliance!
I can't wait to see these guys soon! UGH!
this song is definitely hip-hop, guys.
pretty sure this is polka, dude.
jaime pridemore You're both wrong. It's clearly R&B. Duh. xD
***** Silly me
Dat Soul sound
Glitch-hop with some pornogrind influences. And just a hint of blackened sludgestep.
Holy shit that bass line at 2:07 just gives me chills!
Yes
This is one of those songs that for me takes about 10 listens to truly appreciate it. At first I wasn't impressed, just like I wasn't impressed with the Collective the very first time I heard it. Metal is metal. There's fusions of different stuff but essentially everything is a matter of taste
This is like the best idea EVER.
Amazing piece and talent. Composition and execution is golden.
That's a good idea. both bands are awesome.
The feels I get from this song!!
they sound great

I love the bass!
the playing on this is awesome that tapping
those are some amazing tones
This is my favorite melodic death metal song! :)
....Death?
i don't know how they can top the collective....but i am ready to find out!
You guys keep sounding better and better!
This song definitely doesn't need vocals. That said, the style in this one lends itself better to vocals than their earlier stuff, and I could see it working.
I'm totally buying this on June.
They don't need a vocalist. I used to not be a big fan on instrumental bands, but check one out live and you'll feel different, plus this kind of music is great when your trying to focus because you can enjoy the music and not worry about what the songs about, you can just feel it.
Incredible.
the best line up
they already did a couple years ago it was amazing!
I don't necessarily disagree. If they're ever in my town i'll be checking them out and probably have a blast but I still like vocals. Then again you are right about listening to them at work. I'm going to give it a try :)
Incredible stuff!

Fantastic
Great job guys
I am quite fond of the last minute of this
YES
Ugh that would be so god damn amazing.
Why must they sound so beautiful?
This is fantastic
Intro riff repeats at 3:35. Plus there's a bunch of subtle things you probably didn't notice.
awesome Track, can't w8 for the album!
sounds good so far
I haven't heard such a good shit in a while. Can't wait for the album.
Prog is alive and well. I've been a musician for 30 years and the quality of today's music/musician is awful. Scale the Summit has reassured me that musical competency and imagination are still around. Count me as a fan.
Thank you brother!
+Ken Willis As a 25 yr old, as long as people are still listening to Yes prog will never die.
Right on brother.
listen to intronaut
Great work guys, you are amazing.
The Ocean's Pelagial already ripped me a new bhole, now this? Happy days :')
Its all about visual pictures and emotions through instrumental. Scale the Summit takes you on an adventure, vocals dont. If youve got screaming at the centre point you cant think of much and most of the time you wish it werent there.
thank you for that, love them
same to you, twin!
I say we keep posting about an instrumental tour until we get one...:)
no I just think it would sound cool to have a different version. don't get me wrong I love this band and what they do. one of my favorite bands.
The comes out the same day as 13 by Black Sabbath and a day after my birthday. Sweet.
YES!
Actually, I think this is considered "rap". Just to clear up the genre ordeal.
Necromancer825 I heard it was called ''Instrumental Leprechaun''
+Necromancer825 Wait... are you saying this is not some kind of progressive neo-melodic vegetarian death metal?
Could’ve sworn it was a jazzy representation of neo-funk-laden blackened classical melodic indie country, but, hey! What in the world do I know!
fucking agree
What an awesome compliment to both Ben Sharp (Cloudkicker) and STS.
Such a step up from previous works.. Sts continue to make some of the best progressive metal in the world
Awesomeness!
awesome bass!
This is going to be the greatest album of the summer.
It already seems way more interesting than "The Collective"
most amazing melodic metalcore band EVER, no contestants maybe BTBAM, but thats a whole different ballgame right there
Sithu is brilliant.
Sky Sanctuary is amazing also, and is responsible for what may have been my favorite album of 2012.
i gotta agree with this guy. totally different vision.
This is easily one of the best songs i have ever heard
and my fav band is dream theater so you know its a huge thing for me to say
You guys are efffinnnggg awsomeeee
I love instrumentals for the same reason
This is some maddddddddd shittttttttttttttttt
Hope u guys keep makin shit like thiss
Really nice.
and Trioscapes it would be the "Speechless Tour." and it would be amazing.
Apparently The Ocean is opening for them. Just trying to figure out if it is worth hanging around that long.
It's a co-headlining tour, and if you listened to The Ocean you'd find it totally worth it.
Saw them in Orlando (I initially went for The Ocean). Awesome show by both.
I've been following these guys for years, since MySpace. They fucking shred
Impressionnant.
so nice.
