Hey Shogo, thank you very much for this video (all of them, in fact). I've ordered pure, organic matcha yesterday and got it today! Will make matcha tea now, looking forward to trying it!
I think your subscribers would LOVE to see you performing a tea ceremony. So we can see the ritual as it should be performed and see the utensils and cloths and art. I hope you can do so. /deep bow
As @Saffron as mentioned, I am not allowed to perform the real tea ceremony procedures in public yet... There is a very strict system😭 I will have to train another 10 years probably to finally be able to do so... I'm very sorry!
Yes, matcha is amazing stuff. It saved me when I was doing my grad studies (in Japan.) I was often up half the night researching, etc. Drinking coffee made me feel edgy and anxious. But when I switched to matcha, I found I could concentrate, but still felt OK and could get to sleep afterwards (for a few hours at least.) And yeah, delicious too.
Shogo, you have a talent for making simple lessons, interesting, accessible and entertaining. I avoid tea and coffee as they stain my teeth. Do you know if matcha stains your teeth? I have to admit that having watched your video I am inclined to give matcha a try. Good luck with your objective of reaching 1M subscribers.
Watching this made me understand why it's expensive and can't order them in 1 huge bulk. I love the various versions of green tea but matcha still is my top preference. Thank you for this educational video.
Gyokuro is best consumed before 5 pm, or before 3 pm if you go to bed early. It has around 120 mg of caffeine per 250 mL and it can keep you awake, just like matcha. Sencha has 40-60 mg of caffeine per 250 mg. I usually try to get all my tea drinking done by 6 pm. I have consumed sencha past that hour and it's kept me up a couple of hours past my bedtime.
I've been trying to learn more about matcha and have watched a variety of videos. Your video presented things so well and in an easy to understand manner. thank you!
I always have matcha in my tea shelves, i drink it at least once a day, i even do matcha cakes, matcha ice cream regularly, i basically started putting matcha everywhere haha
I’ve been working an office job for half a year now, so staring at a computer monitor is a big part of my day, and normally drink a hot cup of regular black coffee before starting my day. Admittedly I never really liked the taste of matcha, But watching this video and seeing the health benefits and preparation methods, I just bought a set to start a better alternative. Thank you for all your informative content Shogo! I ran into your channel over a week ago, and Watch and enjoy a handful of your videos every day. Japanese History, Culture, and Arts is part of my career path, and the way you make your videos best helps me retain all the information.
I see Shogo was extra happy during this video. The combination of health effects is essential for the modern Japanese worker. I personally could do with theanin and lutein.
I have now ordered Matcha and a bamboo whisk from Amazon after watching your RUclips video. I am sensitive to caffeine but I want to try this drink at home. Thank you for all of your wonderful RUclips channel as I would like to visit Japan with my husband when flights are available out of Melbourne Australia. Please continue the wonderful work. Love the cultural history of Japan and the do's and don't when going to a new country.
As someone who avoids caffeine, I will not be having matcha anytime soon. However, loved the video. Also very cool of you to include the link to the matcha subscription service.
Out of boredom, I went a mad with online shopping and one of my impulse purchases was matcha tea that came with a small wooden spoon. So thank you for this video. Now I will actually use the stuff that I bought.
The shading used for the cultivation of tea plants providing leaves for matcha is set up over a period of 3 weeks, with shade density increased every 3-5 days until it's at just over 90% for the last 3 days before harvest. At the beginning, the shade is light and the gradual increase is made to allow the plants to adapt to the shady conditions. Suddenly casting dense shade on the plants can prevent them from growing properly. As much as I love matcha, I don't drink it all the time. I'm more of a sencha fan and Uji sencha is my personal favorite.
We switched to matcha because of a disease. Allergies as well. I reduced my black/red tea and coffee consumption. I make a matcha latte. I add some coconut milk to the matcha. This helped to get used to the different flavour. Now we love our matcha and daily have some in our wabi-sabi mugs.
Another wonderful informative video, arigato gozaimasu. Kyoto is my favourite City in the world, I have had a Kembu lesson in Kyoto, enjoyed Matcha in Uji and made some wonderful friends. I enjoy all of your videos, the world needs more people like you. Peace and love to you and your beautiful family ✌ Thanks again Shogo 👍
I bought a little jar of matcha a while ago. I... think I have succeeded at figuring out how to prepare matcha that will not turn your hair white. Yay... The falvour is really quite nice, once you get past the bitterness.
So informative! It's great to hear the history of the tea as well as its benefits. ❤️🍵 A small spelling error in the captions: "catkin" should be "catechin".
Kyōto de hajimete matcha o nomimashita..... I used to drink Starbucks Matcha Latte, but the frist time i try the traditional matcha in Kyoto, how surprised i am with it creamy texture even though without milk and how refreshing
After seeing this video a couple of months or so ago, I got some matcha powder through amazon, and quite like it. In the heat of summer, I tend to add about 1/2 teaspoon of matcha, and about 2/3 teaspoon of sugar to about 6 fluid ounces of milk, and shake vigorously. But in cooler weather. I've found that making the matcha with warm or hot water, and adding some honey, and a little milk, makes it very, very yummy.
I love Japan and the culture due to their Isoliation Politics helps to prevent the Country mostly Populated by Japanese People from beiing overwhelmed from Foreigners and there Culture.I live in Vienna and altough i think its good to help other People who must flee their Country due too war,we as Austrians are on the way to lose more and more of our own Culture! And it makes me a little sad.But i enjoy every Video feom your Channel and all the things i can learn about Japan and its People.Vielen Dank Shogo!!
Since I watched the video for the first time I've decided to try matcha again (wan't really my thing). For now I'm having some sweets with matcha flavor to get used to it before drinking but hey, now that I'm older it tastes pretty good! Thanks, Shogo
I actually bought a matcha set and a tin of matcha the other day and I made my first drink today. I had it at my friends house and I love it! I also very much enjoy the health benefits. (it's kinda expensive tho but it's very worth it)
you mentioned in the video that your matcha is about 10 dollars US for 40g of matcha, for the one I got it was about 28 USD for 30 g of matcha..... yikes
Love your Channel Shogo very well delivered and explained along the way excellent Channel Subscribed and reccomended too friends and Family thank you for you time and effort Shogu you are great :)
I've tried many matcha flavoured things, but never authentic matcha. As I was wondering how to get some, Shogo mentioned Amazon, so that's a good starting place. However, I am more interested in the subscription that he mentioned. Also, I would be more than interested to watch a video detailing the utensils and their importance!
Matcha flavored stuff was what got me into it. I just wish I lived in an area where it was a more common flavor in food and drink other than Starbucks You mentioned refrigerating it, but could you freeze matcha to keep it fresh longer? I know people who do that with ground coffee
I knew the fact about burning fat but the rest? I had no idea! I am now going to nab that really nice matcha I received not too long ago and start drinking it every morning.
Thanks once again for your info as it will be put to use as soon as Japan's borders up to tourist again. This idea took my 'mediocre' interest in matcha to a 'thankful high', especially when mentioning it's health & anti-diabetes benefit.
I really need to consider to change from coffee to matcha tea instead... That could help not to feel sleepy during night shifts at work. And if there is such good benefits from matcha then really there is no second guesses not to switch coffee for matcha.
Great video, Shogo. By the way, I'm living in Tokyo now. I was wondering, are any of the green tea bottles they sell at vending machines or at combinis matcha? If so, what brands are they? I think the ones I've taken so far are regular green tea. In any case, I'll try the bottle method as soon as I can, for sure! ^^
I have a matcha tea set for a while now, but I still learned a lot from this. Soaking the whisk for example. Thanks! But I wonder how good the quality is of Matcha that you can get everywhere now. You can get expensive organic matcha even in Austria at a drug store chain and at a bakery chain prepared like a big latte macchiato. I saw it in vegan ice cream too.
You know, my local supermarket sells matcha. So i feel lucky about it ^^ And now that I know how to do it properly I am looking forward on drinking after the method done in the video >
I personally love tea ceremony and matcha very much,

As @Saffron as mentioned, I am not allowed to perform the real tea ceremony procedures in public yet... There is a very strict system😭

I live in Japan and am lucky enough to drink matcha everyday✨
you're living the life !
I received my tea whisk in the mail yesterday. Then this video pops up. What a perfect timing !
I literally cannot find matcha where I live. Oh well, I'll settle for green/black and chamomile tea.
@@hahmann does amazon deliver to your area?
Not a coincidence if you bought it online youtube got your info.
👀
That matcha beer looks perfect for St. Patrick's Day!
I’m not from Japan, but it’s always good to learn something outside my country.
✍🏻
I live in Italy and I drink ceremonial grade of matcha 🍵 from Uji daily. I really love it.

This is so interesting! As a stressed student, now I want to add matcha into my daily routine!
I don’t live in Japan but it’s very calming to drink!
Watching this made me understand why it's expensive and can't order them in 1 huge bulk. I love the various versions of green tea but matcha still is my top preference. Thank you for this educational video.
Can confirm, Matcha in the evening means no sleep for you that night.
Pas pour tout le monde! ;-)
Some are immune to caffeine (like myself)
Omg yes! I cannot drink it past 8pm. If I do my mind will be still buzzing at 3am.
For people with ADHD, Caffine usually makes it easier to sleep instead of keeping us up.

Kinda wondering if we’ll get a Musashi backstory😎
I bought some matcha online and used it in the mix to prepare cookies, mochis and pancakes

Love matcha! I made a vegan matcha pudding with Dango and red bean paste yesterday for a friend's dinner party, it was delicious 😍
As a subscriber, your videos are great to watch. I feel educated each one of the topics. Thanks 🙏
I recently started drinking matcha, and funny enough, despite not liking teas in general, there is somethign I enjoy about matcha.

I always describe matcha as smooth, mellow and earthy.
I used to drink matcha a lot at university. It was great the day after heavy drinking or when I had to write a big assignment in a short time.
Great video. I hope there will be kombucha, mugicha, and other types of tea in the next videos.
