This was my interpretation of what a NASA promo video could look like. Footage taken from:
In the Shadow of the Moon
Roving Mars
IMAX Space Station
IMAX Mission to MIR
IMAX Hubble
Song: Justice - Genesis
I swear if this was aired during a super bowl, Nasa's funding would balloon by 1000%
I wish so much that this was a real commercial. If I had won the Powerball, I'd pay whatever it took to get the licensing worked out and then play this once every quarter of the Super Bowl.
I love this, it gets me really excited about NASA. They should use this.
They're not allowed to advertise.
The end should say, " all this for half of a cent from you"
This still gives me chills
Unbelievable that this clip is so old... I'm coming back for it every few years to get some motivation haha
This is absolutely brilliant. The editing, the music, everything. Genius.
I love how NASA films even their most mundane footage with a 4k camera, keep inspiring!
Dude, this video is awesome. Really great job. I am so impressed. I also love the Sagan series. The first one made me tear up a little bit.
Perfect! Amazing clip, wish there were more of this caliber to be found!
Never stop making these dude, you're doing an ACE job, someone is bound to notice it sooner or later!
I keep coming back and watching this every couple of weeks.
amazing editing. Kudos! Seriously amazing! You made it exactly how it was supposed to be made.
This was actually amazing, made very well.
I get goosebumps every time the shuttle starts moving. inspired editing.
your nasa videos are awesome!
hope you put out more
gives me goosebumps every time i watch it :-)
Hey man, this is awesome. It combines a lot of things I like. NASA/Astronomy, good music and cool videography.
This needs to be NASA's official ad and it needs to air as the first commercial of the super bowl.
Still your best and most importand vid.
Great timing with the blastoff and the drop... epic
Please make a longer version, with the same intro but continuing awesome beats after the shuttle launch.
That was great!
I love this so much!
I keep coming back here every couple of weeks to watch this again.
Sooo much power!....great job with the video!
The range you've shown between both NASA videos is astounding. They should hire you. Nice work.
0:13 secs in and I already have goosebumps...
Amazing!
Absolutely brilliant
Really nicely put together. Timing on the video to the music is excellent. NASA, take note. :D
This is great stuff. I want more.
Thank you for this. Well, thanks NASA for all the awesome things this video contains but thank you for making this awesome video!
your execution is perfect. i smile so fucking big whenever the beat kicks in.
Still gives me the chills
I could (will) watch this a thousand times
Oh my god please make a longer version for infinite happiness
every time i watch this its like 7 times in a row :)
One "WOW" from Italy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
as soon as i heard the first note i realized justice IS perfect for this
Nicely done, sir.
The man's got talent. Good work damewse.
Excellent Video ! ! !
goosebumps every time i watch this
perfect editing
Watching this now and tomorrow to get hyped for the Mars 2020 Perseverance landing!
I had a "get a free NRA duffel bag" ad come up during this video T_T
Every time I watch it, I get chills until the end when all I want to do is get up and dance. haha. Simply Ahhhhhhhhhsome!
this is so good.
That was so awesome.
Goosebumps. This needs to be everywhere
"NASA, we've been to the moon, what have you done today?"
EPIC TIMING!
Looks amazing! :)
This is awesome.
Love it! Gave me goosebumps!
Goosebumps... WOW. PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER AD.
awesome videos..
Quality videos! If only NASA had some sense to produce adverts like this!!! :D
Still love this video. Possibly the perfect use for Genesis.
love it!!
I've watched this like 6 times in the last week.
I agree that the only way to improve this otherwise very effective video would be with a memorable tagline. NASA actually uses a pretty good one already.
NASA: the sky is NOT the limit.
This is awzuuuum in about 9000 levels of epicness
I just noticed how the the name of the space shuttle appears as it blasts off into NASAs future.
Awesomes! You picked good clips!
I keep switching between thinking how cool this would be for the starting of a star trek type movie and how cool it is that we have done this stuff!
Love the editing and attitude! Maybe the NASA logo needs to be a bit smaller, and ranged left or right - but it is still a really cool video.
Loved it :)
Genesis fits extremely well here. Good choice!
I really wish you would do a full music video with this. The only thing i dislike about this is that its too short.
Never thought about it like that.... advertise NASA as a badass. Hmmm...... I almost get the feeling of power I get from watching something like Godzilla. Interesting.
Whenever I hear this song now (which is a lot), I'm going to think of this video.
Dude! Nice. I want to go to space now.
@damewse This ad is superb - it should be going viral like crazy (I'm surprised it isn't already), and by the time it finally does, there's no way NASA can remain unresponsive for much longer :) I wish you all the best!
oh....i really love it! = D really exciting!
@hameed I would say for the same reason we make documentaries. To increase scientific, mathematics, and engineering literacy through making it an awesome field to go to or at least learn about. Spark some passion. After watching this commercial, it almost makes me switch majors to engineering.
@Kham3a This song is Justice - Genesis. Check out the album it's on- it's all pretty good.
Okay, this is badass.
Excellent, again. Who are the simpletons that keep disliking these?
Powerful!
Someone needs to make an extended video of the song. FInish off the song with more space footage in a similar editing style. It'd rock.
Why does this only have 35,000 views?!
that was badass
@gunnerdog1211 It's the Hubble Ultra Deep Field in 3D.
@damewse Here's a thought: Contact and work with the National Space Society as a nonprofit 501(c) 3 educational organization. Place in the hands of their chapters for them to get on air in local TV/Cable markets.
@TheeUnlikely Fair point. I don't live in the U.S. so I wasn't aware that government agencies are not allowed to advertise themselves. I still think it's a valid point that this kind of cinematography has the ability to influence a lot of people who would otherwise have no more than a passing interest in the work NASA does. It seems that NASA is only ever in the news lately when they make a rare mistake, such as the launch malfunction last week. The media has been gradually damaging their image.
Well done. NASA should up their game and hire you.
Awesome :)
Damn good job
my vote for offical nasa ad goes to you
You know what i want? Something like this for the superbowl.
I just spent 45 minutes trying to find this video... Saw it a few years ago and thought it was absolutely bad ass. Tried to show my girlfriend tonight, and couldn't find it to save my life. Took 45 minutes of trying different word combinations on google. Totally worth it. Best hype video for any space program in history.
only in my dreams would NASA promote itself in such an awesome way. If only 60% of the humans alive right now had such reveries of traversing and understanding the universe our space programs would be phenomenal. It's unfortunate we still suffer hang ups due to the structure of monetary systems and warring territories. Exploration and discovery unite us and appeal to our inherent curiosity and passions for the mysterious. These images are hypnotizing, the selections from Sagan are perfect. :-)
Seriously cool. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!
still slaps
NASA, bringin' electro-funk to the solar system and beyond.
@analiticocr It's all one song, and it's in the description.
this video makes you think "FUCK YEAH!" about space rockets. Especially the drop. I was like... FUCK YEAH!
@swebnived Hey, that quote is from Shackleton's advertisement for his Antarctic expedition, isn't it?
Oh that glorious 720p
Yep, them guys got the cooolest toys. They should flaunt them more.
@bashomatsuo I fully support that!
Hell yeah.
