I’m Johanna Rothman, and this is Johanna’s 60 Seconds of Writing WIP for July 5, 2024, where I read an excerpt of just a minute of some writing in progress.
This is from the Effective Public Speaking book
    .
These two slides are most important because they establish your expertise in several ways. The title slide reassures the audience that they are in the right place. And if they downloaded your slides, they can see the preview when they scan their files.
The last slide helps people realize all your expertise. Yes, this works even if you "only" have one book. Most people don't write any books, so bask in your accomplishment and let other people know about it.
I use several font sizes for my title slide:
    - For the title itself, I use a sans serif font of size 112. If I also have a subtitle, I might make the bounding box larger, or make the subtitle a little smaller.
    - My contact information in the middle is also a sans serif font of size 54.
    - I make the book thumbnails a "reasonable" size so people can see them from far away if I'm in person.
I can easily read Gill Sans as a font. That's why I use it in all my presentations. Before you consider another font, remember that a serif font has all the little squiggles that go below the line of text. Any letter, such as "q" or "g" will go below the line. Serif fonts are terrific for books. Sans serif fonts work very well for presentations.
