    My ferritin level was at a 6!!! Iron was 32, oxygen saturation % was 8, hemoglobin 11.4, & yet my doctor said that i’m “mildly” anemic. I was told to continue taking my ferrous iron pills. I am gonna switch doctors, as this doctor is clearly clueless. I’m nearly 3 months postpartum (stillbirth), & I’m constantly fatigued & can’t do much. I feel so weak & unwell, tachycardia, depressed, insomnia, restless legs, etc.
    Funny thing is that I joined that iron protocol group a few days ago in FB & yesterday my husband bought that iron pill you mentioned. I pray that it helps me bc these doctors are no help SMH

    I was excited to see your video and the fact that you're getting the information about ferritin out there. I just recently found The Iron Protocol group, I've been on the protocol for a week, and it's been a lifesaver and saved me the headache of having to do all the research from scratch myself. I have high hemoglobin and was told to regularly donate blood to get my hemoglobin down. Not once did anyone mention my ferritin, which is extremely low. I should've been taking iron all along instead of donating blood. I can't wait to start seeing results and feel like a functioning human being again.

    I had a 25 ug/ml ferritin on 1/22/24 and when tested on 3/1/24 it was up to 46 ug/ml. I took 20mg Heme iron with 500mg Camu Camu whole vitamin C (not ascorbic acid) and 4-5 mg of copper a day plus cut my zinc way back to 11 mg/day instead of 60 mg/day. I am a 240 lb man.

    Gosh this i gold. My ferritin is 30 and my doctor has no idea about this! She said your ferritin is in range. And i also have low stomach acid and candida overgrowth so it makes it harder to absorb. I got already three arrows after watching your video and i have been using it but i guess it wasn't enough or my body didn't absorb all of it so im still feeling weak, depressed, cold hands and feet, heart palpitations.

    I've had a hard time getting in a deep breath, which causes anxiety, for 2.5 years now. My fatigue stopped me from jogging...I feel like there's lead in my body and fatigued just bending over to tie my shoes. FINALLY, my doctor had me take iron and ferritin tests. My ferritin is 8.7. Iron saturation of 12%. Doc told me to take 325mg of ferrous sulfate. I start tomorrow. I hope I can start jogging again like your wife!! That is so exciting to hear... but I'm afraid to get my hopes up!

      I am in the same boat as you except my ferritin was at a level three and I have the exact same prescription that I started taking already . However, I am being precautious and doing it every other day for the first week and it actually has given me diarrhea, but I am so tired that I can’t really assess if the supplement is making me more tired but it’s just the affects of my period . I have always had very heavy periods . But after having taken two of these prescription iron pills during my period, I noticed that this one was substantially lighter with virtually no blood clots, which is a first in years to not have clots and hemorrhage for an entire day like I have for decades .

      Yep! We have to take our health into our own hands bc of the low quality/incorrect knowledge/pharma control of many medics. I try to avoid them, and the flakes at the other end of the spectrum too. I order and pay for most of my own blood tests, then do the research on if the levels are optimal. This has led to me studying the ketogenic diet, hrt, and now iron/ferritin. Then I see what I can do to help myself to greater health via diet, hormone replacement, and supplements. Iron/ferritin is the big one for me now. Good luck. 😊

    • @StronglifePhysiotherapy
      @StronglifePhysiotherapy  2 года назад +11

      Heavy periods can definitely cause low iron/ferritin. Some find that when they get their ferritin levels up their cycle get lighter. Do you feel like the polyride is helping? That type of iron is easily blocked by many different foods and may need to be taken on an empty stomach to be effective. Have you tried taking heme iron supplements to help raise your levels? It more easily absorbed and tends to cause fewer digestive problems 🙂

I have increased dietary sources of iron. After about a month, I am seeing my energy slowly increasing. Please do a video explaining the difference between ferrous sulfate and ferrous gluconate. I’ve heard that a woman should test only towards end of her cycle, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, and also not having eaten red meat for 4 days or within 24hrs of intense exercise. Seems like if these factors are really important, you could get a substantial error in your values. Thanks so much for your work!!!

    I've heard that you actually want low ferritin, but the iron needs to get into your cells for ferritin to drop. A lot of people have low ferritin from not enough iron, many have enough iron and have high ferritin, but ideally your body doesn't let any iron sit around as ferritin, although it's better to get enough iron and keep some ferritin around.

      I don't know your total health history and can't really give medical advice. But I can say that levels that low very often do cause symptoms and that heme iron supplements are a more effective way raise your iron and ferritin levels. I'm not sure what reason your doctor would have for not wanting to raise your iron levels. You may need to get a new doctor or at least a second opinion. You can try to eat more red meat and eat liver or take liver supplements to help increase levels at well.

      Sorry about that, it’s a popular supplement and sells out quickly. Another great option to get heme iron as well as other important bioavailable nutrients is beef liver. Most people don’t love eating liver, so a supplement can be a great option. The one I like is here: amzn.to/3KDPI5C
      If that doesn’t move the needle quickly enough you can try a blood builder supplement (combination of grass fed beef blood, liver and spleen) it sounds weird but has even higher levels of heme iron and can help restore iron and ferritin levels faster, but it’s a little pricier. amzn.to/4ehqIOR

    The Three Arrows supplement is no longer available- can you suggest another? Also do you have any suggestions for someone whose iron deficiency was caused by gastric surgery? Can we absorb Heme iron in supplement form? Thank you so much

    • @StronglifePhysiotherapy
      @StronglifePhysiotherapy  5 месяцев назад

      Another great source of heme iron is beef liver. I actually like it better than Three Arrows iron because liver has many vitamins and minerals in addition to the iron. You can just eat beef liver but many prefer a supplement. Here’s the one I recommend: amzn.to/49SSCgY
      A gastric surgery may lower nutrient absorption. It may be worth while to look into some digestive enzymes to help you break down your food more effectively so your body can absorb more nutrients.
      Hope this helps!

    Hi doc, can ferrous sulfate help?

    • @StronglifePhysiotherapy
      @StronglifePhysiotherapy  2 года назад +4

      Great question! Yes, ferrous sulfate *CAN* help but it often doesn't. Here's why: it is a form of iron that is easily blocked. You have to be very intentional trying to raise iron/ferritin with this type of iron supplement. It is not absorbed well or at all when taken with coffee, wheat or other grains, milk or dairy products, beans and many other foods. For this reason it should be taken on an empty stomach 30-60 minutes before a meal or about 2-3 hours after a meal. Taking it with vitamin C will also help absorption. Unfortunately, most doctors don't tell you all this when recommending it. It can also be hard on the digestive system.
      An easier option is a different kind of iron called heme iron. It's found in red meat and is especially high in organ meats. You can also get it supplement form. My favorite for this is a beef liver supplement (amzn.to/3dxQAf1) because it has the heme iron but also many other vitamins and minerals that work together to boost iron and energy levels.
      Hope this helps!

They say we need iron for our bodies to create ghrelin... a hunger hormone. I'm going to buy an iron skillet too add iron to meals. Is it true that drinking tea with your meal stop iron absorption

    • @StronglifePhysiotherapy
      @StronglifePhysiotherapy  2 года назад +3

      Yes tea is a VERY strong inhibitor of non-Heme (plant based) iron absorption. But it does not block Heme, or animal, sources of iron. I highly recommend Heme iron sources like meat (especially red meat), liver or liver supplements (amzn.to/3QDPKvE) or a good Heme iron supplement like: amzn.to/3Ckscr8
      Plant based iron supplements are usually much less effective and blocked by many different foods.

    • @StronglifePhysiotherapy

      Sorry you are suffering from so much fatigue! That is low for hemoglobin and very low for ferritin. I've seen hematologist give infusions for low ferritin but they can have very different stances on what they give infusions for. A good heme iron supplement can help. There are two that I like which I'll put links for, one is a more concentrated heme iron and the other is liver, which is nice because it has many other nutrients in addition to the iron. Heme iron is much more easily used by the body to raise your levels. It can make a huge difference. There can be other causes for fatigue but low iron (ferritin) is a really common one. I wish you the best in getting answers and getting your energy back!

    • @StronglifePhysiotherapy
      @StronglifePhysiotherapy  2 года назад +1

      There can be multiple causes of thinning hair, correcting thyroid issues is a big one which you’ll need to consult with your doctor about (supplementing iodine can help in some cases). Low vitamin D will affect a LOT of things. Sometimes it takes higher doses to raise your levels, 10,000 IU does well for a lot of people. I like Heme iron supplements for raising iron because non-Heme types are difficult to absorb and are blocked by many common foods and drinks including dairy and coffee. It’s good to know your numbers hang in there and keep working on it!
