I love this redesign!! The micro animations and motion design is exactly what makes the biggest difference and get users excited. Something AI can’t do just yet😉
AI can't even do a good looking static UI thankfully, it's just glorified ui-kit search bars right now. But yeah those animations and subtle skeuomorphisms are very nice!
I'm glad that you mentioned Cuberto at the very end of the video. I am a huge fan of Cuberto. They are an exceptionally, talented design agency that makes very high-quality designs. Top notch. I get inspired by their design approach. And by watching your videos, I get the best of two worlds for UI design :)
Yup yup! I agree, I've always obsessed over AirBnB's UI and their UX. The scrolly thing is a tad gimmicky for my taste, but does look pretty cool and is actually more accessible, so that's good! The book animation is not gimmicky at all though and reinforces their brand of more enriching and novel bookings. Each host has a story to tell, either with their place, the decor or maybe even literally, in person. Brilliant.
This is so true I agree on all fronts! Its all about the numbers and $$, noone is taking risk anymore and we rarely see some cool things like that. I also love the OMG! UFO category they introduced when they first started rolling out this new design nice little touch.
As usual, Michał, great overview! And you're right - we don't need to be creative all the time. I work in the legal industry and it is sometimes challenging 🥴
Those are the kind things that a new-born UX is willing to do since the very beginning but they lose on the run towards fit the actual UX automatic world!! Fortunately, this kind of video makes me regain that!
Hopefully this will push more companies to be a bit bolder with their designs and animations. Maybe this will open up the doors for those UI designers willing to push their skills to the limit to stand out without having to worry about the stigma attached to dribbble like designs. UI/UX designer may be needed more than ever to create bespoke memorable experiences for their clients.
It's not even about the animations themselves - it's about the wiligness to even do this - instead of just playing it safe. And I am 95% sure the users will love those little quirks even when some "guru designers" talk about how bad it is ;)
@@MalewiczHype exactly, if it resonates with the user and they enjoy the experience, that goes a long way. Sometimes making something cool that gets emotion out of the user is why people keep coming back. But like you said that some so called ‘ux guru’ will say its bad ux and its not meant to be fun and everything needs to undergo a rigid design process and we shouldnt experiment or have fun or try new things…
I believe that the creative part for this was borrowed from video games. They gamified the app to make it more fun and enjoyable to use. I'm in love with this!
I wonder how the made the Apartment-to-House transition... Looks so fluid and nice. Personally I think the month slider looks a bit out of place. Maybe if adding this subtle glowy gradient somewhere else can tie together this visual element. Overall looks refreshing :)
The apartment to house and back transitions are I think done by not just outlines, but some of them being filled with white, so when moving they can overlap and hide the rest. That and some clever masking :)
Yeah, I saw that too. I've been doing this thing in After Effects and it's easy there. I was wondering what tech they used in the app so I can learn it as well :)
Hey, I've been following this channel for quite a while and I wanna buy some of Hype4 Academy courses. Are they available anywhere besides Gumroad? It just doesn't support credits cards from Belarus as far as I can tell.
Thank you so much! For explaining Airbnb's new design interface
It's just a quick overview, but I think it's worth mentioning even so that more people get a mindset that it's ok to experiment :)
@@MalewiczHype I definitely agree!! So that we can all be aware of the new industrial design and decision

Unless you are on Android then the animations in the Airbnb app are mostly horrible

Sleepiest is one of my favorite examples of a delightful design :)

100% agree!
I agree! Delight shouldn't be ignored just because the product already works. Thanks Michal!
That's why I believe it's important to show these cool examples :)

Yeah that ufo thing was awesome! :)
The app looks rad. So happy to see more fun added to the interface.
Thats a cool design!!! I Really like the book part.

Some industries are definitely more constrained creatively, but even there there may be some potential to experiment ;)
@@MalewiczHype in the legal industry we have to be "seriously creative" 😎
I love contrasts, it works with few elements and can deliver great works and this redesign is eye candy.
Finally. Some work that actually looks like it was fun to create.
And it is fun to use - seriously just playing with that dial is fun :)

Animation baby! 😊❤
*Teach us to design some awesome interactions and micro-animations like this*
I've seen the air bnb app it's way cool and I just like how simple it is to move through its like ui heaven
Love this and I hope it becomes a full series. If you need a playlist name, I suggest ‘UI wow moments’
I was going to go with "UI delights" and it was kinda planned for a while - there are apps with stuff like that - albeit not many.
@@MalewiczHype That's good too. I approve.
very smart comments 👌👌👌
Great video as always! You should create a video or course about icon animations similar to what airbnb did. It will be a great help.

And I will be fighting those gurus with all I got :) Team Delight!
I think you should make a design course for creating creative, delightful experiences outside the design system...
I kinda have a bunch of videos on graphics design explorations in standard UI design tools - those help with a lot of stuff like that :)

This may start a trend
I have a plan to promote more stuff like that! :-)
We need more development outside of the box. When people can create something else, it becomes a warming experience.
Yes, but not for the sake of being different - doing stuff like that is great when it adds to the experience :)
