    Man this is why I love mixolydian, is not as bright and oversaturated like Ionian or Chimy and unstable like Lydian. It’s a fun mode you can let loose on to show your confidence

    Respectfully😊
    This is E-dorian since the tonal center is E. Yes, it contains the the same notes as A mixolydian but it doesn't make it mixolydian, You can try playing simple licks that end on A-note and LIsten whether or not it sounds like the root.😉

      I heard this a couple of times. It all depends on what you are hearing inside your head. For me I can jam for hours to this in pure Mixolydian. I can't even try to play Dorian along with this simply because... I hear the loop starting from the 7th chord. I think in your case you start the loop from the minor chord, that's why you get your self in the Dorian context.

      @@chusssMusic I'm sorry but it is dorian context since the tonal center is E. And furthermore this Is a classic dorian II-V vamp. An A-mixolydian vamp would be A-G/A, G-A, A-Em or just A in some cases.

    You can start groove A and G cowboy chords, barre chords , A and G
    triads and 1st and 2nd inversions
    going up and down fretboard using strings 1-3. 2-4. 3-5. Play G and C shaped barre chords. A and E even D shaped to get bigger lush sound or partial chord sounds use double stops, arpeggios, Crete melodies chase root 3rds and 5s and then connect stronger intervals with softer landings. Groovy as it gets if you keep it simple but creative

      I just realized that A mixolydian and E dorian are the same :D But I play A mixolydian more towards F# as the home note and it sounds better than E.

    • @gorimus
      @gorimus 3 года назад +1

      @@nothingtoenvy9169 if you are playing more towards F# as your home note, and notes of D major scale, then you are playing F# Phrygian mode. That's the fun with 2-chord jams, you can shift home notes.

    I have a music theory question: If we're in mixolydian for the first chord, could we look at it as going to lydian for the second chord?

    is it normal for there to be a lack of home for playing in "exotic" modes?? no strong feeling of 1-3-5?

    • @chusssMusic
      @chusssMusic  2 года назад +2

      I am not sure I understand your question correctly, but if you mean that it is taking sometime for your ears to really feel the sound of this mode that is normal. It varies and it took me a few weeks to internalize the sound of some modes.

    to remember quickly mixolydian scale :
    start from G mixolydian = G A B C D E F G
    or you can start from C mixolydian = C D E F G A A# C
    Than you can transpose into A mixolydian faster from G mixolydian.

    • @chusssMusic
      @chusssMusic  Год назад +1

      Another way to play the Mixolydian is to always remember that it comes before the natural minor or the Aeolian mode. So in this case it has the exact same notes as the B natural minor.
