Polish Navy demonstrates the excellence of RBS15

  • In early September 2021, the Polish Navy performed a training and operational exercise which included a live-fire demonstration of the RBS15 Mk3 anti-ship missile systems.
    Saab's anti-ship missile RBS15 serves with various navies, coastal batteries and air forces including Sweden, Finland, Germany, Poland, Croatia and Thailand.

      @@lalxl they overlap each other in some cases but Saab makes jets while rheinmetall makes incredible armored vehicles. Both makes excellent ammunition. Saab has much smaller product catalog. I really like both for their excellent quality.

      ​@@Razparuk MON doesn't say it. MON comfrimed only that would be RBS-15.
      It is not known that will move from Orkan class to Miecznik frigate. Because there is option move older missile MK III move to ORP Ślązak and bought new RBS-15 mk IV for frigates.

      All Gungnir are RBS15 but all RBS15 are not Gungnir

      Carrier disabling is relative. Could a hit temporarily halt flight operations? Sure, but this missile is just too small to guarantee significant damage.

    The FAB urgently needs to acquire the Swedish RBS15 MK3 to compose our new Gripens in Brazil. We don't have anything like air-to-surface anti-ship over 100km.

      ⁠ P-800 onyx and BrahMos better. That missile in the video at a range of 300 km has a speed of Mach 0.9, while the Brahmos at the same range has a speed of Mach 3 and it does not drop much in the modification to 600-800 km. This missile is much more difficult, if not impossible, to shoot down than RBS, which occupies penultimate place in the top anti-ship and cruise missiles. What “firepower?” 😂

      Ukraine have asked for Norwegian NSM which is a similar missile. Seemed to me that NSM may have a more advanced seeker but RBS15 a bigger warhead. No idea how well both do vs "CWIS" like systems and such, Russian ones may not be called CWIS but against the ships defensive capabilities.

      @ You fire more missiles than the target has ciwis capability. That in conjunction with sea skimming, way points and terminal evasion.

      @ CIWS is nearly useless against anti ship missiles in the real life. You need stuffs like rim116,sea ceptor or hq10 to give you the last chance.

      @ Both missiles are subsonic, which makes them easy to shoot down. Russia and India have anti-ship missiles of similar range that have supersonic speed. Brahmos flies, for example, at a speed of 3,700 km/h and also has the ability to sea skimming and can also change altitude during the flight.

      @@DianaKazimiera-In Finland our missile boats are stealth ships.
      We are Allies now, cos of Nato. Finlands missile boats are smaller, but pack with fire.
      Rauma (old class), or Hamina class modern. They launch their missiles and just vanish with their stealth, and Finnish coastal defend will support the. Like i say, we are allies now. But let me say this, i was on those stealth ships. That ship on this vid, don't look stealth at all. Finnish tiny missile boats shoot same missiles (RBS 15) and are fast.
      We call those RBS 15, MTO 85M. Those are not new missiles, but effective.

      @@lintu25 Poland has newermissiles Kongsberg NSM in in costaldefense batteriesbased on 6x6 which are much more stealth :D and norwegian missiles have range 220 kilometers, Poland was firstuser of thissystem outside Norway.

      RBS ok, it's much easier to use, but Ukrainians don't know how to use Gripens so it makes no sense. They fly on post-soviet fighters.

      @@hitusiks7072 it's actually pretty hard for them to get RBS 15 aswell. If they get the land based one they cant fire it from the shoulder 😂. If they have any ships left they need to intregate it on there, which probly takes weeks.

      @@petter5721 we tried to in 90s it was the worst and less capable machine n these tests. We tested F-18c/D Hornet, Mirage 2000-5C, F-16 c/D Block52+ and JAS-39 C Gripen.we chosed the best machine.

      You write this funny - this missile is not the best and its speed is Mach 0.9. Compare the Brahmos, which at the same range has a speed of Mach 3. RBS is easier to shoot down than the Indian-Russian modification of the already supersonic anti-ship missile P-800.

      ​@@isadanjan4762Brahmos will be greeted by Standard,ESSM,Aster or HHQ dozens of nautical miles away since they need to cruise at mych higher altitude to reach enough ranges with more significant radar and ir signal.

      Possibly. Baltic Sea is just a slightly bigger lake, so Navy buildup is quite a secondary priority for Poland. Coastal artillery including long distance rocket launchers are way more essential for them. And ships fulfilling a rocket platform roles, for which the ships could be smaller and older and still remain effective for that role.

    That's based on the American Hellfire missile. I thought that was cool how they made it into a ship interceptor.

      RBS-17 is based on Hellfire, its a close range coastal piece, given to Ukraine from Sweden, RBS-15 is alot more heavy duty, can be carried by fighter jets, but are the size of drop tanks...

      RBS15 is developed and manufactured by SAAB in Sweden, has nothing to to with the US hellfire (RBS17).
      Two completely different systems!

      I think Scandinavians can take care of them self. They don't need NATO really. They are wealthy and very good equipped. The landscape with all the mountains and the way the roads are built would be a true horror movie for the invaders. Basically an afghanistan 2.0, only this time it is a professional army armed with cutting edge technologies and military equipment.

      Well, it's not cheap. But considering firepower/dollar it's not bad. Considering that these can even sink/damage an aircraft carrier, you can even argue that they are cheap.

      @@Statek63 What makes you think that Ukraine has a new missile, and especially its own? R360 or Neptune was created on the basis of the Soviet (already adopted in Russia) anti-ship missile KH-35, which also has its own modifications in Russia. Ukraine did not create its own missile, but modernized an existing one.

      Dopiero będą mieć bo miesiąc temu podjęto decyzję o budowie dużych okrętów klasy fregata. Tak więc polska ``Navy`` będzie w stanie topić ruskie okręty nie tylko jak teraz na Bałtyku ale de facto na wszystkich morzach i oceanach.
