  • @aubah

    The microphone noise cancellation does not work when connected via Bluetooth directly, it seems that you need the dongle for that, which means that mic noise cancellation does not work with mobile devices. I tested it with my phone and the mic noise cancellation was indeed non-existing.

    What year is it today 2011? Micro usb in brand new $200 +products ? And why don't the charger can be use as a hub for a dongle? Using 2 usb a slot for headset which start to be rare this days is a dumb idea in fact my company laptop only have 1 usb a and 2 usb c.

      @@KevinHay1 I assume that only for the the transmiter, while the base still the same, poly can incorporate usb a base with build in hub for usb a or usb c dongle as it only need power pass tru when it charging and not in use. Bought a couple pair for the office in May 2024. The price was $249.99ea at Best Buy. This includes the desk charger, dongle, carry case and a few micro USB cords. The clarity of the audio is good. It switches fairly well between PC and mobile phone use.
    The "leather" pads get warm against your skin, so a cool temperature in the air conditioned office is ideal, or else you're going to want to take them off in 10-15 minutes. The range and connection is fantastic everywhere in the house, and as far as my driveway.

      I have the Jabra Evolve2 85 UC. The first year, it was great, but after that I had issues with the boom mic not working. I made sure to keep the firmware up to date but the issue did not get resolved. After many back and forths with support, I just gave up. It still works till today but I had to frequently turn off/on the headset just to get the boom mic to work. If it weren't for the faulty mic, that headset would've been perfect. Now I am thinking of replacing it with a Poly equivalent after owning it for 3 years.

      Is there a reason why mic quality is so poor through Bluetooth? Sound in speakers is great in bluetooth so recieving is ok but transmitting is problematic for some reason.
      If I was Musk or Bezos I would hire you to make the perfect headset and destroy the market.

    • @antonk6600
      @antonk6600 3 года назад +1

      @@bjorneriksson6480 as far as I understand, bluetooth call quality is inherently flawed, as it uses the mSBC codec for calls. Which has the sampling rate of 16khz. (CD quality would be 44khz)

    • @antonk6600
      @antonk6600 3 года назад +1

      Further expanding on this, it looks like the upper microphone frequency response of the Bluetooth protocol is 7000 Hz. Which would explain why the sibilants sound so unnatural via Bluetooth. This was not much of an issue in an age of phone calls, but is not ideal for the age of zoom / teams calls.

    I have both the Focus 1 and 2, very happy with the performance, but I need to say that the Focus 1 is still my preferred "Go to" Headset, I answer customer calls and in-between calls, I listen to music, I love that the Focus 1 separates the Media on one side and the call on the other. Using the Focus 2, the controls are on one side of the headset and this is a problem, no forward or backwards for music, if you want to advance to the next song, you need to press the center twice, 3 times if you want to re-listen to the same song. The problem here is when you press twice, sometimes...! it redials the last call, making me call back the last customer. Yes, I hang up immediately, but shortly after, I receive a call from the customer asking why I called? Very awkward. Never had this problem when using the Focus 1. I work in a quite environment, never next to a blender or train, no difference in the call quality between the Focus 1 and Focus 2. I was under the impression the Focus 2 was an Improvement, I realized it was not so.

      The Focus 2 has some pretty major improvements in microphone and noise cancellation. And for music, if you listen to a bass-heavy song, you'll really notice a difference. I was also disappointed in the loss of skip forward/back on the Focus 2, and gave the engineer grief for it over Christmas! I'll see if I can reproduce the redial issue - I don't skip songs all that often, so I've never experienced that. Glad you love the Focus 1 - I was told that my input had a lot to do with how it turned out.

      I have exactly the same issues with this Headset and even more! I am using the MS Version. I addition to above Issues with double and tripple button presses, today I found out, that as soon as MS Teams is started on the PC, the middle Button does no longer start/stop music, not even on my mobile! Even if I completely close MS Teams (including Taskmanager) the start/stop functionality is not restored until I reboot the PC. While the microphone quality as well audio is better than on the Focus 1, this bug is really annoying. I have tested this with two PCs and get the same results on both. I have a case open with Poly, lets see if anyhting changes....

Some clarifications though a) do the boom Mic triggers the mute/unmute button if moved up/down? b) Can BT700 be used with other Poly UC headsets? c) lastly, for baseline only, as the Mic quality of focus 2 scored a 7, what would that wireless headset that scores a 10 so far from your review? for benchmark purposes only :-)

    Muting the microphone! If you decide to do that via the headset by clicking the mute button or sliding the mic upwards, the other participants in the call will hear a loud click or a loud sliding of the mic respectively. Also when you walk, you can hear the strap on the top jiggling on each step you make.

    As an FYI for yourself as well as others. The headband that lifts, besides adding to comfort, also acts as a play / pause switch (on my Focus 1 at least). When I'm listening to audio etc, and remove the headset, the player pauses at that point. In a meeting, It automatically mutes you. Very handy feature!
    I'm looking at the 2 as my 2nd purchase, as the plastic surround for the metal head band on my 4yo Focus 1 has failed (due to my big head...) and so I've had to tape the shell closed. It appears that the 2, with the metal band extending down might be a little more sturdy in this respect. Really happy with mine, so the 2 I'm sure will be great also.

    Thank you so much for your great review! Overall the headphones look good however I see two major cons. 1 - micro usb, that just should not be happening in 2021! Means you need special cables (usb-c to micro usb) or dongles to use it with a modern laptop such as MacBook or even some Windows models. 2 - it would be great for the charging stand to also have a usb dongle functionality, so if connected to your laptop you wouldn’t need the actual usb dongle and avoid occupying two usb slots with one headset. To me these 2 points are a deal breaker.

      Hi Sergiy you could always get a usb-c to multiple usb-a connections to make that easier. But I agree I wish there was usb-c connection to headset or perhaps if the charging base was the Bluetooth connection and you could plug in the charging base into the computer for the audio connection. I definitely think it’s still worth considering as the new improvements are quite nice IMO. What did you think of the other features of the headset?

      @@HeadsetAdvisor Thank you for sharing your thoughts. After seeing the promo videos I’ve expected more from these headphones. After seeing this review, I return to see the review of Focus 1 in your channel again. It confirms that it still not time to upgrade. The different is not much especially the sound quality. The old one still better than the average of the headset in the market that it's enough in real life. The mic quality is good enough to work from home or even in the coffee shop. The range is not the significantly problem because I will not use it that range, the current one is enough for walk through my home. Anyone using Focus 1 no need to upgrade but anyone need to buy the new headset go to Focus 2 is the better choice because of the improvement. If you have the tight budget, Focus 1 is still the best choice for you even compare to any headset in the same price range in the market. You can find a lot of function that can help your life better that you don't know you need it before and do not present in the other brand.
    Thanks for this review to make me save the money not to buy the Focus 2 to replace my favourite Focus 1. If this product come to my country, the price will go to at least 450 USD. Now I know that I do not need to upgrade.

    Hi! Thank you for the awesome review! Sorry if this has been asked before: does the noise canceling cancels external noise when you're listening AND talking? I like the noise canceling on the MIC when I talk, but I still like to hear my surroundings. Thanks!

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  3 года назад

      Hi there! Thanks for watching and no problem. Anytime you have a question we're happy to help :) When you have the headset on, with both ears being covered it will reduce unwanted background noise you'd hear, but it won't 100% block out all the noise. You can further reduce the unwanted background by turning ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) on.

I mostly use it for sales calls and I am at my desk, but I would like the ability to move around the house... I watched your videos on almost all of the different available phones... Hi CJ, thanks for watching and the kind words 😁 for connectivity with Skype either on your cell phone or computer, in our opinion the Voyager Focus UC 2 is by far a better choice in comparison to the Jabra Motion UC. Whilst the sound is clear, it is probably less comfortable for the listener on the other end when the sound suddenly pierces upwards. To be honest, I don’t get peoples insistence on USB C everything, first of all unless you’re a Mac user or have a very expensive pc your gonna need a USB C hub which is an add on expense. Buying a peripheral that requires an additional peripheral seems pointless. I am aware of the higher data transfer and possible power transfer, but few users application’s will benefit from the higher transfer rates as opposed to USB A (3.0). Just my two cents worth.

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  3 года назад +1

      No I did check that and the voyager 1 base was slightly different size so it won’t fit the new Voyager Focus 2 unfortunately. What did you think of the overall Voyager Focus 2?

      Hi Kamel, try the steps below.
      1. On Zoom, Click your profile picture, then click Settings > Click the Audio. tab >Next to Suppress background noise, click the dropdown menu to select the level of suppression you wish to use.
      2. Follow the video here and make sure if you have Intel smart technology it's disabled ruclips.net/video/O8BVp8eHF_k/видео.html

    First thanks for this video, it's helping me know wich headset i ned to buy. The only thing i'm not sure for those headset is the robotic sound of the voice that it give's to the other person on the other end. I'm using Zoiper for my operator system and i'm trying to remove the robotics sound what do you suggest ?

      You're welcome, thanks for watching! I'm not 100% sure how you mean by removing the robotics noise. The mic quality you hear in this video is how it would sound, and there's no way to adjust the tone.

    Is it possible to listen to TV using this headset? i know it will do computer and mobile but it would be great to have it work with my big screen TV in the bedroom at night. Is this possible?

      Hi Michael, we haven’t tested this but don’t believe so. There are other headphones out there that can work with a TV.

    I've used Plantronics headsets for many years, I'm on my 3rd focus uc, I have an 8200 and several Voyager Edges and 5200's. I just received the office 2 way version with the connectivity base. I'm praying I have a bad unit, but this is terrible. The ANC is broken, as soon as I turn it on it's sounds like electrical interference of some kind/static. Then when I'm on a call, or when the headset is active it sounds like the Hear-Through tech on the 8200 is engaged. Super sensitive, I can hear myself breathe and it just sounds artificial like hear-through tech sounds like piping in outside sounds. I'm not sure if again I have a defective unit or perhaps they went too far with this acoustic fence stuff. But for almost $500 I'm devastated. I'll try to get a replacement unit, but might be time for a new brand.

      Hi Michael, sorry to hear the headset isn't working as intended. You should be covered with a 1 year warranty, so if it's within that time frame, I'd request a replacement. If you need a headset for mobile phone + computer only, then the Voyager Focus UC 2 is a nice upgrade.

      @@HeadsetAdvisor think I might just cut my losses and return it. I purchased direct form poly and the office 2 way version is no longer on the site or anywhere I can find so I have a feeling a replacement could be a while. looking at the jabra engage 75, Looks like I can use that with a deskphone and pc. Just 2 questions , what’s the difference between the teams verse and the non-teams version and what’s the difference between the one with model number 213726 01 and model number 213726 02?

      To keep it simple, if you strictly use Microsoft Teams, get the Teams version. For all other scenarios go with UC.

      Hi Monica, the score is a combination of the mic on how it sounds as well as how much noise it blocks out. We have since stopped providing our score though on any new videos because we found many of these categories are to subjective.
