Quite the terrible "retelling", As if this story needed even more embellishing by tagging on nonsense like Christian cruelty not being compatible with Britanic religion at a time when there was no open worshiping of Christ in Rome as they were also persecuted by Rome. They also left out the brutality against her Daughters, that there was no betrayal against the king, her husband nor did Boudica try to bribe her way into being Queen. Her husband named their daughters AND the Emperor as heirs in his will and since Roman law allowed no women to hold office, the kingdom was Romes and they came and took it. There are many women who are stronger than the average man
@@allthebanter9316she was no doubt a powerful queen, I haven't seen an account that she was a warrior. We have to remember too the writings we have about her come from about 100 years later so it's unlikely they knew exactly what her appearance was like. In fact in making her tall, with a harsh voice, wild hair etc it's making her sound like some kind of androgynous pr masculine woman which was probably part of the roman propaganda to contrast that with the ideal roman or Greek woman who was meant to be a quiet, dutiful mother who took no part in politics.
@@lw3646 the writings we have about her are contemporaneous, they were primarily correspondence from the Roman general she was fighting at the time, Suetonius paulinux. Even the secondary sources that recorded her, such as Tacitus, were alive at the time and had primary sources present in the area, namely his father in law julius Agricola, who was a tribune in Britain at the time. Literally every account of her is as a warrior, she led her soldiers into battle, as was traditional at the time. Finally while yes it is possible that the description of her could be Roman propaganda, it is unlikely that Roman propaganda would be written by an iceni poet, don’t you think? It seems you have just taken the most basic general criticisms of historical sources and not done any research on if those criticisms even apply to the sources we have for Boudicca. The latest writing we have of her that purports to be a primary source is 60 years later, for context there is a longer gap between the end of WW2 and now.
her tribe still had the guts to fight them even though so many Britons died but either way Romans wasted their time trying to expand westward. If they actually focused East they would've been in power longer than any empires. They wasted 500 years trying to expand but nothing great came out of it but blood shed by 5th century they couldn't handle Germanic tribes attacking from all corners. Odoacer basically pulled the plug on the western roman rule
@@Lhenry2365it wasn't just her tribe but a coalition of tribes that revolted, though other tribes in the west appear pro roman. The romans never seem to have managed to completely subdue the Brits but they did to some degree. There's so many remains of roman villas spread across Britain. The romans didn't really try and expand further after the Emperor Trajan, the 3rd century was mostly taken up actually with infighting and civil wars. For an empire to last 400 years is pretty incredible and even the people who sought to overthrow it in some senses wanted to buy into it too. The causes of its collapse are complex and not down to one single factor, still hotly deepened by historians today. There's no denying it's legacy lives on though, latin, christianity and roman writings passed on onto the middle ages.

Realistically, since most of the sources from this time are going to be Roman they're probably going to go into more along the lines of propaganda, but when one considers that Victor's Justice was incredibly extreme in this time I'm curious if it'll actually show what the victorious army will do to anyone that gets in the way, ei lots of rape and murder.
@@aaronrowell6943 lol. The Marcomannis ain't natives defending their homeland, they were one of the first cases of invading barbarians during the II century.
@@WFASPigeonGang trust me I know that anyone who talks about that they are native defending their Homeland I guarantee you about nine times out of ten unless they are the undiscovered civilizations in the Amazon they probably killed somebody to take that land from somebody else
@@charlesmcmasterswhen you say romans, we have to qualify that most of the 80,000 deaths in London described were probably of native britains belonging to tribes loyal to Rome, we know the ones who fled headed West towards the pro roman tribes there. The point at which the nature brits become romans is up for debate, probably around the 200s AD.
This looks inspired by hell blade
BOUDICA: QUEEN OF SPAM
Finally! At long last there is a movie about the queen who stood up to Rome.
Spoiler alert she dies to the Roman's
@@HenryPlantagenet-rl1mi for the history buffs yeah they knew for ones that didn't know now they know
@@HenryPlantagenet-rl1mi okay cool but not every one is you there are some people who don't fully know what certain films a based from or what the actual events that transpired during that time only the interpretation presented in said film is the majority of the info they get some times while other people have done studies or a small bit or research on the matter before hand.

Finally? Cleopatra was made back in the early 1960s......
I want to learn this kind of fold! Teach me
Quite the terrible "retelling", As if this story needed even more embellishing by tagging on nonsense like Christian cruelty not being compatible with Britanic religion at a time when there was no open worshiping of Christ in Rome as they were also persecuted by Rome.
Then...then the breaking of the sword and tossing it in the water and being magically remade instantly...god this shit was horrible. It did not need this kind of treatment, the story was already great. I would not recommend this Boudica movie to ANYONE when there are so many great other versions that did not feel the need to ruin her story with nonsense.
Yeah I think they were trying to copy Excalibur by having her sword magically be pulled from the lake.
Also they wanted to rip off Gladiator by having her family murdered so she can want vengeance and have a happy reunion with them in the afterlife.
It's just a ton of stuff stolen from better movies because these writers have nothing original they can create.....
when you see viking's actors 🤩🤩
Looking low budget movies
Very nice movie ! 😁
Trailer looks nice :)
At least she's the right colour. Jk, love Boudica's story and this period of UK history.
ANYONE ? For making an accurate, historical documentary/ movie about this. ?
What's with the gold teeth and war paint?
Bummer... I was super excited for this content (Boudica) but the acting/story concept is a ways off. Maybe next time... ☹
Does anyone know if this is cinema bound or VOD and which one?
It's direct to video. This would bomb in the cinema.
I thought we were calling them kings now.
Learned about her a few years ago.
This looks badass
Fiction has a way of doing that, the imagination is a powerful thing...
Yeah...its a shame it is such a bad movie
It wasn't. The thing is pretty bad, it mostly comes down to the tiny budget and weird script.
This looks very bad, like fun movie.
Watched a video by Brett Cooper on "How often do men think about the Roman empire?". Now it's all I think about haha. On another note Boudica reminds me of Senua from hell blade.
Funny I thought it looked very viking show level production, and the actor who plays rolo appears in it lol
Centurion 2010 if anyone likes the look of this film.
Ronda Rousey Was perfect choice for this character 😢
The trailer looks good but i cant tell if this has a big budget? Medieval movies without a big budget tend to be really bad
It was very low budget.
Started watching this and turned it off 20 mintues in it was so badly written and directed. I was so disappointed
I legit thought this was gonna be about Puerto Ricans ! Boricua😂😂
At the beginning of this film, it states "Inspired By True Events " .. So where on earth does history show that Boudica had a magic sword 🤔??? .. I love history .. but when so-called historical films are made & their so inaccurate ! It doesn't half make me mad 😤 ... If these producers and the directors can't do the research to get it at least 80 - 90 per cent RIGHT, .. Then WHY ? do they bother .. even on a budget to produce a film .. cut out the rubbish 🗑 & try to put in fairly accurate accounts ... Despite the inaccuracies it's fairly entertaining.
i doubt boudica was this thin back in her roman days/time
Best Movie ❤❤❤
It has only 3.1 rating on IMDB ! Trailer looks good , well , they all look good ! 😂 is it really worth watching ? 🤔
anyone up for a vikings reunion? lol
Holywood !!!
Ugh. No.
Always wanted to see a film based on Queen Boudica, but i dont think this is it.

This movie was so bad it was good. Great comedy and I laughed more than I have in a long time!
For People without Brain is this Movie perfect 👍🏻🤣. A Movie from Idiot's for Idiot's.
Looks like horrible histories 😂
Low budget
Yeah.. totally based on a true story.... women back in this time were known to be strong warriors and much stronger than men.
Uhhhhhh, hate to tell you this bro….. this is based on a true story, Boudicca was a real warrior queen of the Britons, her image later became known as Britannia, the British incarnation of war during the empire.
@@allthebanter9316 yeah... no way she was "stronger than men" and was some fierce warrior. may have led an army, ok, but stop with the super human woman thing, especially back in that time. Just stop. its ridiculous
@@grizztough4091 “She was very tall, the glance of her eye most fierce; her voice harsh. A great mass of the reddest hair fell down to her hips. Her appearance was terrifying.”- Tacitus. Boudicca was explicitly a terrifying warrior woman, it’s not like they’re saying every woman of the iceni was some madcap Amazonian, literally this one woman, and you are offended by it?
Looks good. 👍
at end of the movie she better be defeated or else this is gonna have to be a non fiction film
her tribe still had the guts to fight them even though so many Britons died but either way Romans wasted their time trying to expand westward.
Watched it. Just terrible.
Haha I mean. What did you expect

They cast a Ukrainian as a Celt, it’s about as respectful and decent as casting a sub Saharan African as a Celt, I would argue less so. But you don’t care about that, you just want them to be white don’t you
I just seen the preview on Netflix and in the scene she has girls with her that are obviously poc.
So I don't know what that is about. I hope they aren't making them out to be her children.

@@csb7376 romans were outnumbered at least 3 to 1 againt the britons, no superior numbers here, just better planning
@@ocathail84 To paraphrase 300, they brought more soldiers. The victors write the history books, and no doubt the figures were over egged a bit. A lot of the Britons were either unarmed or had rudimentary homemade weapons, and no training whatsoever. Whereas the Romans were a finely tuned war machine, with superior equipment, and battle hardened after their years of conquests across Europe.
@@csb7376romans were oftenly outnubered since they were fighting very far from their home. Is not propaganda, is a fact, roman armies were better than any other at the time, and could win impressive victories thanks to the training, and equipment. I mean, romans understood the value of their soldiers, unlike every other culture back then. They even had a place to retire army horses when they get too old., called the vetes, from where we got the word veterinarian. Boudica did not care one bit about her men, she just send them blind to hit the roman line at least 3 times before they brike and a massacre ensued, she even went as far as to allow women and children on the battlefield.
