    Great video, thanks. Just got a new 1025r. Love the ease of removing the loader and the new hand brake. Thank JD for changing the front universal access. Greasing that zerk will be a breeze now. Great new features with 2 exceptions. The redesign of the mower deck connections are a pain in the tush. The narrower front bracket renders it very difficult to lean out to see if the bar is matching up with the slots that catch it. The rear lifting mechanism has been made into a major pain. The old style had a single bar running the full width that connected the 2 locking keepers. A simple flip up released the locks. Now the locks are separate and have to be in the proper position to fall down once the tractor gets over the deck. If the front hasn't been aligned properly the rear can still lock so you can't back off and try again without getting off and releasing both locks. I wish these bright-eyed engineers had to be mechanics before EVER putting their skills to work designing something like this for the public. Another pain is the hood release. Gone is the simple lever hood release. Now you need the key or some other small object to push in a little hole. The release bar runs directly over the front edge of the battery. Changing that battery was difficult enough for an old lady, just did it last month. Had to remove both headlights to get enough clearance to wrestle it out of it's cradle. Now it's blocked by the hood release as well. It's a great tractor. Pulls my 5' box blade, tills beautifully with the 4' tiller, has a strong loader for such a small tractor. I'm sure I'll get used to the mower but had to share my 2 cents. Thanks again for your videos.

    What I like about mine. It's nimble and great for mowing and occasionally moving dirt.
    What I dislike.
    1. The rear axle lock never has. It's misadjusted and after three trips to the dealership to have it looked at, I gave up.
    2. The tractor is DANGEROUS. It's so tippy that on even the slightest slope it scares me. I was almost able to push it over on my driveway and with anything in the bucket, it's worse unless the bucket is right on the ground and with a load of gravel, then it's more stable. At 13o I get nervous and worry that even a small bump on the ground will toss me over. For this reason alone I would never buy another one.
    3. It's great for brush-hogging, as long as the land is level.
    4. The hydraulics are wimpy. I have leak-down now after a couple of years of use, and asking the dealership for help is a waste of time and in my case, VERY expensive. 1500 to tell me, "Hey, I think you might have bent something." Great diagnosis. Helped me a lot.
    5. I bought this one because of the backhoe. If I'm digging a trench, and it's deep, the bucket gets stuck in the ground and I have to work to get it out. Pulling roots is not an option, and I have to really work hard to get one to break. I can hardly pick anything up, and digging is tedious and slow. If I had the time I would weld up a narrow bucket to make trenches. I CAN dig out small stumps, but anything over 2" takes a lot of time and you have to get fully under it to get it out.
    6. A trip into the dealership for a repair is at the least two weeks, and on average about two months. They also do not like to do factory repairs.
    7. Mine came missing two bolts on the front axle covers. Took nearly three months to fix the resulting damage. I almost went and got it and did the repair myself.
    It's a nice little lawn mower.

      Thanks for watching and the great discussion! If you're having trouble with stability, you may need to investigate your current ballast set up. We've got a great Toolkit video on ballast options. If you're doing a lot of digging and heavy dirtwork, you may just need something a little heftier than a 1025R to do the job.

    So, the 1025R and 2025R are built the same since when? I was looking at a 2015 2025R model, and thinking about trade with my 2019 1025R, I need a light tractor but with more clearance . Only concern is going backward as far as mechanically specking. Year? not matter much, only 4 years difference.

    I don’t care for that single point hydraulic connector. They usually tend to leak and they’re kind of a pain in the rear when using other attachments. One thing I wish JD would’ve changed or added is a medium range on the trans and a better grille guard to help protect your investment. Otherwise great machines.

    Great video, I like they improved some things, specially the hydraulic coupler placement as that is HUGE. But i really woulda liked to see John Deere do other stuff too such as moving the 4x4 leaver from the floor to the fender where it should be, change their gauge cluster to something more modern looking and finally add a nice analog or digital fuel gauge to the cluster instead of leaving it on the side of the fender as seen on most cheaply made lawn mowers. Maybe some day they will do these things but would prolly wait till they did a major design change. Aside from that stuff tho i feel it’s a well rounded machine.. I own a Kubota Bx and I love how all my controls are located up high on the fender, hydraulic lines/fittings are all very well thought out.. the cluster shows everything important in a nice clean package including fuel level and I dig that there’s less plastic on the Kubota even tho the John Deere plastic has proven to be very tough, it still seems/feels cheap to me:

    Enjoyed and learned from the video. Have prices changed from 2022 or have they stayed the same? Do you anticipate increases in the 1 through 4 series tractors? Has John Deere or considered putting a cab on 1 & 2 series? Also, has JD or Pape considered making wheel extenders standard for stability and reduced risk of rollover? Thanks.

    • @papemachinery.agturf
      @papemachinery.agturf  Год назад

      Hi Daniel, Thanks for watching! Prices in our industry will continue to fluctuate depending on the cost of raw materials and will generally increase with each model year. This year has been no exception. We are committed to try and earn your business and will always do our best to be competitive on price. Great news - John Deere does offer a factory cab option for both the 1025R and the 2025R.
      Jason has this to say about wheel spacers: "I would love to see wheel spacers as a factory option on our 1 Series, but they aren’t right for everyone. A lot of folks have width restrictions to comply with, but I agree with anything that makes our tractors safer."
