    Hi there! I need to use my 220v playstation in the US. The wattage is 35watts. Will this work?

      Yes.

      This unit is probably overkill for a Playstation at 35watts. Yes, it will work but they sell smaller ones on Amazon and eBay. You can buy a 50watt step-up transformer for $10-$15. Or there are 100watt around $20. They are smaller and would be more energy efficient for your use.

    how's the the transformer working? I am thinking of buying one.

  • @einstein3185

    I got this to use it for my Tesla coil. The transformer uses 200W and the Tesla coil uses 150w. The Tesla coil uses 220v and I plug it into the 220v with the switch on 110v because I’m using 110v to convert it. Now the issue is everytime I plug it into my transformer it blows the fuse everytime I try turning the Tesla coil on. Any suggestions? I cant get the tesla coil to work because of the transformer

    • @DonBrandt
      @DonBrandt  4 года назад +2

      Sorry no, this device only converts 500 watts, it would nee to be much bigger. In the USA, all homes have 220, yo may just need an outlet added. Call an electrician, they shoud be able to give a free quote. Good luck with your project.

    I am afraid the physics rules are still valid and you bought a piece of electrotechnic scrap.The (auto)transformer inside is unable to survive 500W load for longer than few minutes. Not counting the covers made of tin can sheet metal... Capable just for a micro lathe and the lightest turning. What are the provided fuses amperage?

    • @DonBrandt
      @DonBrandt  6 лет назад +1

      5 Amp fuse at 110, would that equal 10 amps at 220? Speed controller is rated a 2.6 amps. Will be testing soon, have the motor mounted, need a drive belt now.

    • @MilanDupal
      @MilanDupal 6 лет назад +2

      Wrong, current is not equal 10Amp. 5A x 110V = 550W. For double voltage and same power you need just a half current: I= P/U, 500W/220V = 2.27A I see your issue in very small transformer, though "certification" insufficient for continuous load. Transformers could be overloaded short time by cca 200%, till overheating and burn. Industrial grade 500W transformer should weight approx. 8 kilograms ( minimum 23,5 square centimeters transformer core)

    Most the VFD"s have a square wave not a sine wave,so the power on a square wave is less than a sine wave and same equipment don"t like square waves they like sine waves,but the best way is a sine wave inverter not a VFD but you just waste you time on youtube explain people those things because 99.9999999999999% are not electrician"s ,they don"t know what volts,amps, ohms watts, sine,square wave,frequency, H.P, RPM, P.F ,E.F ,etc,etc,etc,WASTE TIME with all those punk kids today ,,,,,end of the story!, only thing they know is operating a cell phone ,,,BAD ,VERY BAD,,welcome to the new generation.

    (+/- 10%), 50 Hz (+/- 3 Hz), 60 Hz (+/- 3 Hz); Power consumption: 381 watts (active printing). I thought by buying this 500w tranformer would be enough but the printer still will not power on. Any Ideas??

    I watched your video and enjoyed it a lot. You sound like you know what you’re doing. With that in mind I have a question. I have an old 1940 drill press that I want to put a 1/2 hp 3 phase motor on. I bought a Transformer to step up the 110 from my garage plug in to 220. Here’s the question: is that all I need? All I have to do is plug the transformer in the wall and the 3 phase motor into the transformer. I also bought a VFD to regulate the rpm’s.
    Any advice will greatly be appreciated…..

      It won't if it is anything bigger than a 1/2 HP motor. Which I would never use on any size lathe bigger than a 6" one. The 12" downstairs has a 1HP 240V motor on it and at times have thought that a 1.5 HP 3 phase would be nice so that I could get speeds between what the belts and gears offer.

      From AC 100W to AC 500W? the 500 watt transformer is 400 watts more than what you have. Look at the label on the back (or bottom) of your Yamaha YC-45, it should tell you the needed volts and watts. I did a Google search and your Yamaha YC-45 looks to be 30 watts. Your 100 watt step up transformer should work. Your Yamaha YC-45 might be broken, blown fuse, etc. Make sure the outlet you are plugging into works, the device is on, etc.

      @@DonBrandt is there an alternative or another transformer we could use to plug in a 230 window unit into the 110 volt or would it be best to hire an electrician to change the outlet? I saw someone did it with this same transformer for their window air unit so I was going to copy them but I like doing more research then them. It’s working normal for them but I wonder if it’s going to shorten the years the unit will be functioning.

      You'll need to have an electrician run a circuit with the proper outlet for your AC.

    Hello I am currently overseas and dealing with some American 110 electronics and some 220 in the house. Plugs are minimal. I have one side for 110 and the other Plug is 220. Can I use both sides of the converter at once. Basically run my American and European electronics off the same box?

    Does the 220 volt have a neutral wire? BTW - I'm not talking about the ground...

    You should be able to plug in the USA plug directly into the 220v side without the adapter. A word of caution is someone (like a kid) who doesn't realize this could plug in a 110v appliance into that plug.

    Some people are using these for a model of Cpap machine that has this issue where it takes like an hour to power up. They say it works. However, I see some that have european and usa power plugs. My question is...as an American who may travel to Europe soon and has this cpap with the power up issue, I'd like to use this thing in europe too. Will it work if I plug it in with the other power cord? Or will it do nothing because the power there is already 220? In other words, what happens if you plug a 110 to 220 converter into something that's already 220? And in my case, where the cpap machine supposedly calls for any voltage, but people say this helps them in a usa outlet with this model that's a little sketchy, will it work both here and in europe for this application?

      According to the manufacture description on Amazon, Yes. Most devices these days will work on both 50/60hz. But I would check the device label. If you have something that is specifically 50hz, then I would ask the seller on Amazon to clarify. But according to their description, yes.
