  • In this video, the Binary Encoder circuit is explained in detail. This video explains the working, the applications, the logic circuit of the Encoder, and the limitations of the normal binary encoder.
    By watching this video, you will learn the following topics:
    0:00 What is Encoder?
    1:02 4 to 2 Encoder
    2:38 8 to 3 Encoder (Octal to Binary Encoder)
    4:40 Applications of Enocder
    6:46 Decimal to BCD Encoder
    9:01 Limitations of Encoder
    11:43 Introduction to Priority Encoder

    What is Binary Encoder:
    The binary encoder is the combinational circuit which converts the input binary information into the compact binary code. The Encoder has N outputs and 2^N or fewer inputs. Its working is exactly opposite to the Decoder.
    For the normal binary encoder, it has been assumed that only one input is high at any given time.
    And depending on the particular high input, the. the Encoder generates the N-bit code at the output.
    Depending on the number of inputs and output we have different types of Encoders.
    4 Line to 2 Line Encoder, 8 to 3 Encoder (Octal to Binary Encoder) are the few examples of the Binary Encoder.
    Limitations of Binary Encoder:
    1) If more than one inputs are high then the output of the Binary Encoder is invalid.
    2) When all inputs of the Encoder are zero, or when the first input of the Encoder is high then the output of the encoder is same. (All N output bits are 0). In other words, for two different input conditions, the output of the encoder is same.
    These two limitations can be eliminated using the priority encoder.
    This video will be helpful to all the students of science and engineering in understanding the binary encoder and its working and applications.

    I did read about making a four fase triangle genertaor with a master integrator, a ripple counter, an encoder, and a 4 bit integrator, how? because I do not now precise how that is done. thanks.

    Hello! I have one question regarding minute 4:20 : I saw in the video of Fulladder minute 6:20 that you did different. Instead of using or you used xor, getting it after manipulating the normalform. Instead of many or's, can we get using something like xor nxor ? thanks!

      @@nobitanobi6607 I don't know if are you are talking with me or with "All about electronics". But there is a playlist called "analog electronics" in the channel that covers semiconductor, diode, transistor and opamp. They are the main arguments of a analog electronics course in electronic engineer.

    sir what is the difference between bcd and decimal encoder because the sum to find out the logic gate is same for both

    • @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS
      @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS  Год назад +2

      I think you are talking about the difference between Decimal to BCD and Decimal to Binary Encoder, right !!
      Well if so, then there is no difference. Because BCD is also binary representation specifically for decimal numbers.
      So, both has same logical expression and logic circuit.

    • @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS
      @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS  9 месяцев назад +1

      In the encoder circuit that we have discussed over here, it has been assumed that at a given time only one input is active. If more than one inputs are active at the same time then it won’t work properly. But practically we do not have that ideal situation and multiple inputs might occur at the same time, like multiple keys are pressed simultaneously. To avoid that ambiguity of multiple key inputs at the same time, priority encoders are used. For more info, you can watch this video: ruclips.net/video/gnoqn705LBg/видео.htmlsi=Nzk1Th3v4v3aeJz2
