I like the calm nature of your voice in the video. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
Good job Aaron! We did something similar with an R710. Check out our journey
Thanks! I'm currently subscribed to you and will check out some of your content very shortly.
Great video. Can you elaborate on the GPU you used in this set up? Thank you.
Yes. I drilled out the end of the PCIe slot (just plastic) to make room for the card that wouldn't fit. If you are able to get the card to fit, it will be recognized by the R510. I used a smaller graphics card and technically you can fit up to 2-3 in there if you really wanted more power.
My card is:
Detected NVIDIA GPUs:
04:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GK107GL [Quadro K2000] [10de:0ffe] (rev a1)
I followed this guide to drill out the PCIe slot and make room. How to install a Graphics Card in a Dell PowerEdge R510: ruclips.net/video/6fLJHC_KYg0/видео.html
@@Studio3BRocks Appreciate the comment. Thank you.
Using the k2000 in my plex server also, beast of a transcoder just can't handle h265 like the p2000. But I don't have any h265 so all is well.
@@RyanPuckett1979 . How many transcodes have you been able to do simultaneously with that card?
@@Studio3BRocks Great video lots of answers for me. How many transcodes have you been able to do simultaneously?
I'm thinking about using a R720xd for my setup. Can you transcode h265 with those processors in the R510?
Plex currently transcodes all video to H.264.
There is a Feature Request to transcode to H.265.
As for the capability - I would think it is possible since dual processor = 16 cores. Else you can compare the ability of your GPU here developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-and-decode-gpu-support-matrix-new
How's the server holding up with WD blacks. i have 2, 3Tb reds and 1 12TB I shucked from a external HDD i got at bestbuy for 199
I’ve done away with some of them. I have 2 10 tb disks in raid 1. 2 4 tb in Reds in raid 1 and the OS disks. It’s holding up well. I’m still looking for a legitimate backup solution for all my data . Mostly audio and video. Sounds like you have a nice setup.
I have the same exact server running Unraid with Plex server and it's been doing a great job transcoding but I can't stand the fans noise when I get two plus streams it's sound very loud, especially transcoding 4K movies. I'm not sure what I can do to lessen the noise...Anyone has any idea? Thanks
Best solution is to move the server away from the tv
No you have 8 cores that are hyperthreaded for 16 total not 15.
Computers count from 0 not 1.
Also FYI, this is a SERIOUSLY expensive way to run plex, overkill would be the under statement of the centry, just to point this out, as a plex user, my "server" is an i5 7th Gen with 16GB RAM and a 1050Ti, streams to 8 devices all at once zero worries at all. Will even do 4k no problem.
I was given this server as a hand me down. Thanks for the cores info.
