1 Let all mortal flesh keep silence and with fear and trembling stand; ponder nothing earthly-minded, for with blessing in his hand Christ, our God, to earth descending, comes our homage to command. 2 King of kings, yet born of Mary, as of old on earth he stood, Lord of lords in human likeness, in the body and the blood he will give to all the faithful his own self for heav’nly food. 3 Rank on rank the host of heaven spreads its vanguard on the way as the Light from Light, descending from the realms of endless day, comes the pow’rs of hell to vanquish as the darkness clears away. 4 At his feet the six-winged seraph, cherubim with sleepless eye, veil their faces to the presence as with ceaseless voice they cry: “Alleluia, alleluia! Alleluia, Lord Most High!
I believe this is one of the most sacred and beautiful melodies I've heard. The lyrics are God centered as well. I first heard this in an Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Loved it from the beginning.
I first heard it during advent at a PCA church, it's one of the best Christmas hymns ever written, along with O Holy Night, O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Angels We Have Heard on High, and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.
The lead singer's voice sends me into a rapture every time I listen to this amazing hymn. With no exaggeration I have listened to this performance over a hundred times as it strikes an internal cord with in my heart!!
Let all mortal flesh keep silence, And with fear and trembling stand; Ponder nothing earthly-minded, For with blessing in His hand, Christ our God to earth descendeth, Our full homage to demand. This is one of my favorite hymns, and yours is the most beautiful rendition I’ve ever heard. The lead singer’s voice transports my heart and soul into a state of deep worship. Thank you for this masterpiece!
I saw a snippet of this somewhere, I had to run to RUclips to check for the remaining,if it exists, glory to God I found it here, I'm so wowed, it's been here for 5 years and I'm just discovering it, so beautiful ❤️❤️
A beautifully sung hymn. We listened to this as part of our Advent Meditation today and all felt this version was very spirituals. Thank you for such a beautiful version and especially to Kaili Kinnon and your stunning voice. God's gift to you.
Jesus is present in the Eucharist, His blessed flesh. To those who deny it let him be anathema. They will answer to Him who deny Him at the end of their retched lives. Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us sinners.
Beautifully performed Eastern Orthodox hymn depicting the MIND-blowing concept: that THE Creator God of the Universe provided Salvation for us men via Jesus Christ : God into Human !!! WOW ! ! ! The Gospel: 'Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures: And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures" 1 Cor.15:3-4
Very commonly sung in Episcopal and Lutheran churches, older than the Liturgy of St John Chrysostom (who by his words gave us words fit to worship the Word). In Christ there is neither East nor West.
Absolutely gorgeous rendition. I particularly love the first singer's timbre. Her voice reminds me of German opera singer, Christa Ludwig who has an effervescent voice. Well done to all the musicians here. You are doing an amazing thing by keeping the sacred alive.
What is Man that You are Mindful of Him? The Beauty and Profoundity of this Statement is Starkly Evident as One tries to fully describe the Glorious Power of this Hymn of Worship!!! V. W.
I heard this song for the first time at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Honolulu a few years back. It was a young man (solo tenor) who sung it and it completely blew me away... I can't get enough of it
This church hymn maybe old & ancient but some denominations of Christianity have this song within their hymn books. Such as Catholicism, Lutheran, Episcopalian and the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Alan Bourbeau - only sects that believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The lyrics are too Catholic for most Protestant denominations.
A favorite of mine. Beautiful arrangement is sung beautifully reflecting the ancient sound. Thank you so very much. Blessings, and the accompanist ie excellent as well.
I keep coming back to your breathtaking interpretation of this tune that is hauntingly beautiful in its original form, but you folks have expounded on that making all the more beautiful. Would it be possible to get the score of this arrangement? I have a couple of musically inclined friends I would love to sing this with, if you could kindly provide access to the score. Many thanks for blessing us with this arrangement.
Endearing lyrics, powerful Theology. This is my favorite hymns and no I don't believe it should be classified just as a hymn for the Advent hymn. It's proper for Easter and ordinary season as well.
Interesting, because I never recalled it as an advent hymn specifically. We sang it at different times year round and we had the most beautiful arrangement I have EVER heard( no offense to this arrangement which is beautifully done!👍) But today as we are in the 3rd Sunday of advent, paying more attention to the words, it just occurred to me that it’s perfect for the advent and Christmas season!
I may not be able to please certain people but I try my best to please God. With whatever tasks he gives me. Especially custodian work at a Lutheran Church. This past Thursday, I was doing my best work at one of the Lutheran Churches. This high ranking employee was wasn’t impressed with my work efforts. He said, “Alan, when I give you explicit details of your work, I expect you to do it. Either you do it right or don’t come at all.” Obviously I wasn’t paying attention. But at the same time I believe that the high ranking employee was being too hard on me. He should try to have patience with me. I mean I’m not perfect and neither is he. Only God is perfect.
Sir, this may be a late response, but I would like to question this for a moment. Who is he to tell you not to return? Is he God? Isn't God supposed to be the head of the church? Though I am not Lutheran, I do know that what you are experiencing is bad. You were doing your best right? And no matter what humans may say, if God sees you doing you're best, then that's all that matters. This person you have experienced sounds like a pharisee. lol. If this is how you're being treated, then maybe you should relocate.
Martin Luther said that if you are doing your best work, whether, you're a bishop, a brain surgeon, or a custodian, then you are honoring God with your work. It's sad that you were treated this way at a Lutheran church, of all places.
This is absolutely beautiful!! I love this song so much and you have sung it so well! God has blessed each of you with a special gift and it is lovely to see you use it in praise of him! Will you be uploading more Christian hymns anytime soon? God bless and may the Blessed Mother Mary keep you all :)
This is lovely. Who is the dark haired girl singing? I've searched your Facebook and other videos and can't seem to find the name of your band members..
Hi Annalisa, thanks for watching! The dark haired girl is Kaili Kinnon. Check out kailikinnon.com or her youtube channel here: ruclips.net/channel/UCrluUtujEntpIo4VKbCXUrQ
Sung too fast. They so a beautiful job with this beautiful hymn. It's just that, regarding the tempo, they don't give the note at the end of each phrase it's full value and rush into the next phrase. Anyone else hear that?
Why do you miss out the second verse. King of kings yet born of Mary As of old on Earth he stood. Lord of lords in human vesture In the body and the blood He will give to all the faithful His own self for heav'nly food.???

This is a literally ancient piece of plainsong.
You guys should search the lofi remix by the hymnal project. It gives a different feel

The two female singers are extraordinarily talented and most beautiful indeed
Whenever I have a bad day and feeling emotionally down and feeling like crying 😭, this song helps me to calm down and forget my troubles.
Do you still come back to this song?
True 100%
I think that’s amazing that it means so much to you. It’s one of my all time favourites!

This is one of my favorite hymns, and yours is the most beautiful rendition I’ve ever heard. The lead singer’s voice transports my heart and soul into a state of deep worship. Thank you for this masterpiece!
I have listened to this a dozen times in a row. Can’t get enough of this prayerful rendition.
I love this song for the stunning alto performance of the lady on the right of the screen. Wow! Have never heard anything like it!
Thank-you Blue Rose! :D I am so glad you enjoyed our performance.
The vocal is beyond wonderful and totally captivating.
beautiful unique voices & arrangement

Sung frequently in Episcopal churches
We use this song weekly for the Offertory (during the preparation for Eucharistic). The words are timeless and transcendent.
This has to be one of my favorite versions of this hymn. It feels very sacred.

My absolute favorite hymn, great recording. We need to make the sacred mysteries properly sacred again, I think this song helps 😂
Powerful and ethereal rendition. Beautiful
There is a unexplained profoundness of this hymn of Saint James.
I heard this song for the first time at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Honolulu a few years back. It was a young man (solo tenor) who sung it and it completely blew me away... I can't get enough of it
It is certainly one of the most beautiful advent hymns, EVER. So glad you watched our version.
Unexplained? Some hymns are more profound than others, but I would not find profundity 'unexplained'....

What a hymn...Simply mind blowing
Doing this for my winter choir concert so I'm listening to other versions
Jesus Christ is alive. God bless your voice🙏⛪
🥺🥺🥺🥺so heart touching,I melted
May God bless you all
Nice harmony. This is a powerful truth-packed song.
What a sweet gift, truly. That could be the only feature from a Christmas Eve service, and we could all go home, immeasurably blessed.

the best version (and alto) I have ever heard. thank you!
Really a beautiful song, God is great😃😃😃😃😃
Amen.
Oh my. What a wonderful rendition of a beautiful hymn. Although each one's voice is beautiful, Kaili's voice is so evocative and so moving. Thank you.
One of my faves. What a Soprano!

Could you sing malka mama by nelli andreev
Cool, the tune for cowards sweet, that BS doesn't work with me why is the world fallen so low today simple answer, I am listening to it .

Thanks Scott! :D
I wonder if the original composer was Catholic as in The Catholic Church ( Roman Catholic) ? I’m Catholic btw
I know this song as “I Am the True Vine.” Does anybody else recognize such lyrics?
The problem is humans talk too much. They are told, Silence!
Seriously? You are losing your minds over the lead singer? She is bucking for the "I want to be Nina Simone" award.
That is her authentic voice and it is a gift. A true alto is an unusual commodity and a well-placed alto voice is not contrived, it is her gift.
