My shelter dog is pretty skittish around other dogs, and I could never predict which ones she’d like. I realized recently that she always loves goldens. They’re so nice, and somehow she learned that!
Growing up we had a Golden Retriever who was so much like Tofu that it brought tears to my eyes. Whenever one of us came home, Robin HAD to pick up a fallen leaf and bring it up to welcome us with, and he would sniff with the leaf in his mouth the same way Tofu was doing with his toys. Robin was the sweetest, friendliest dog EVER. ❤
Tofu needs more socialization! ❤ He seems like a big time extrovert who is often just home with mama and perhaps dad too. Like perhaps being a therapy dog at a children’s hospital or elderly home, visiting the dog park, schools, etc.

My walk to and from work takes me through a park. There's a retriever I often meet there called Ketchup, and she's exactly like this. Her owner is always so apologetic because she jumps up at me and gets mud all over my uniform, but I'm on my way home and she's so adorable that I don't care. Love that dog, epsecially after I've had a bad day.
I am a border collie kinda gal, but even I know these golden retriever & labrador type dogs are angels that walk the earth. So loving, charming, generous, funny, loyal.
I have a beautiful pit mix who likes to play with other dogs, doesn't have a mean bone in her body, is always surprised and confused if another animal is aggressive or scared of her. Whenever she is at the dog park she goes to get love from other humans and will also try to leave with them too 😅 I swear she is well loved and treated at home, she just loves people.
My Springer Spaniel does this, but she’s learned to pick up and hold a toy in her mouth to help her contain her (over)excitement. Before she knew this strategy, she didn’t know what to do with her self around newcomers. When I see her almost imploding from happiness I remind her with a ”Where’s the toy?” and that gives her something to do.
Same with my dog, golden lab, he likes to meet people rather than dogs, very easily he can tell and strangers where there the owners treasures and kept. 😅

My dog was the same way - I'd take her to the Dog Park and she'd play with the other dogs only AFTER meeting every human first. If a new human arrived while she was playing, she'd stop and go meet them. RIP Millie, you were such a good girl!

This is like my dog. Other dogs are fine, but humans? HUMANS! They are everything. I love this trait. It’s so sweet to see how excited she gets to meet people and just wants to be friends and give love. It’s so pure and precious.
Tofu would LOVE my sweet Olaf, he’s a Rottweiler/pittie mix and just always so happy and eager to please. His trainers have said he has the personality of a Golden and now I see why. ❤❤❤

It's not always about being heartless some people just don't like animals . Not liking pets doesn't make you heartless. Some people are deathly afraid of dogs or have allergies. For people who think they are so compassionate maybe extend some of that to people who don't like what you do.

She got so used to seeing dozens or even hundreds of people every day living in a big city, just on the way to the ground floor, but less so with other dogs. Now she basically ignores other dogs except her brother, but ADORES every human.
Seems like he could really benefit from a dog companion for when he's on his own so much while his human at work. Or one of those work places people can take their dogs, at least sometimes... Bless him.. What a sweetheart 😍💕🤗
