I had the exact same problem last week and I fuel at flying J. Those black particles look hard like rust etc but if you touch them they disintegrate I replaced my filter 3 times and put holes in the fuel to clear water.truck still doesn’t run as good as it did but is getting better.
One solution: Use a clear cup before you fill your tanks at the pump Two: have a higher fuel tank pickup There's a colored paste you can buy. That will change color when water hits it. Take a wood yard stick, put the paste on the end . Then stick it in your fuel tank to see how much water is on the bottom. Check out : Gasoila regular water finding paste
I just changed mines yesterday, truck had some hesitation whenever I press the fuel pedal a quarter of the way, and I'm hoping that fixes it I'm also thinking it might be doser injector I have all the emissions stuff on the Cummins isx. BTW that intro is Bomb
My truck started accelerating really sluggish after filling up almost instantaneously. After about 35 mph it wont go beyond 20 rpms until i get to max speed and it hesitates from time to time. I drained my fuel seperator and found some water but A LOT of black debri. I guess I got a bad batch. Im currently using some additives and draining the fuel water separator. Its getting better but its still pretty rough. Praying everything clears up.
@@DIYSEMI Point taken. Been a long time since I've been in something that old. I've been in either Pete or Kw since 08. Can't remember if my Internationals had it.
Hey diy, is it difficult to install one of these water separators on a trk that doesn't have it? I have the old style fuel filters (2) but they don't have the transparent filter like here
@@DIYSEMI im thinking it's the primary filter that seperates water but if it hooks right up then all I would need is a clamp to bolt it on the frame. With fuel beign sky high ,im assuming some companies will put fillers in fuel and its better to catch it b4 it damages the injectors
That is terrible. It goes to show tankers aren't reporting water in the tanks before depositing. Aside from ruining the motor, you paid for diesel and didn't receive pure gallons or anticipated efficiency.

Very good advice also thanks for the heads up on that fuel from that Petro
Watch the project farm video on fuel additives. The regular power service additive in the silver bottle is the best. The red one is just for ice.

I need to find the drain valve on mine and check it regularly. I haven’t had problems yet but that’s probably just dumb luck. Thanks for the tip
thats some crazy stuff... thanks for sharing much love.

Special intro just for you! Lol

Thank you so much
Thx a bunch! My fuel was from Flying J
Thank you sir, I just had 2 trucks go down in 1 day. Not dead, just lost power.
In 40 years I have never got water like that. But that's just what that davco is for. Guess I have just been lucky
Yeah...me neither. I hope it never happens again.
Wonder what the weather was at that TA after they got resupplied with fuel. Maybe a leak from the top.
Yeah...or he forgot to put the cap back on!
I just checked it and not a single drop of water in the filter. Thank goodness it could have been full to the brim and I wouldn’t have even known it.
Good news!
Do you drain while the truck is running or turned off? Do you have to refill the filter area to avoid engine stalling?
Only when off. Don't drain empty or u will need to prine
10/4 thanks!
Can you help us build a manual fuel pressure gauge but also a way to manually pressurize the system
Thanks for the advi c e. My fuel filter started filling to the top. You know why?
They plug from the bottom up. Supposed to do that
Thanks
I didn't know we supposed to drain this 🤔
They might add water just to make more money
eeek - i would have no idea!
My question is why the water in fuel light didn't come on. My pete will trip the light with just a few drops of water.
because older trucks don't have that light

Wow good you checked.
Hey man I have a 2013 cascadia and I never seen any liquid through the Clearview cover. There's nothing ever there. Is that normal?
it's fine
Dont fuet while tanker is delivering fuel it get the dirt in bottom of tanks floating around
wow 3.50 a gallon for water
Can I drain while my truck is on
truck should be off

Not hard at all. Assume one of your filters is a water separator already? You can plumb it in there

Quick question please? Should the engine has to run or off when I’m draining the fuel/ water separator? Thanks in advance
Off
Quick question how often should you drain your water/fuel separator and how much cause i have cat fuel separator
Do it at least Everytime you put fuel in
Get same problem on every loves
OH WOW!
