    As of me writing this, I have finished my headpiece with the spray paint, all it needs is the crystal, thanks a lot for the help!

    Rub n buff and the airbrush look the best because they preserve the detail the most.

    Why didn’t you use a Dowell to spray paint so you could get the bottom vs the glue method?

    Soo I was building the dlt19 however, the templates for the barrel were too big for the 1-1/4 inch pvc pipe. Did I print the template wrong or?

    Hey, I've been a fan for a while but only recently bought a 3D printer. I want to start this project but I was curious if you printed your headpiece with supports or not?

    Hey Happy Trooper...I have a couple questions: 1. For clarity you did not put a top coat on the rub n buff correct? 2. If you were painting White coated metal (such as the hardware used to mount/hang the container store's Elfa shelving system) after sanding and priming would you use hand brushed acrylic paint or rub n buff? I cannot spray paint in or around the grounds of my apt building. I enjoyed the hand brushed acrylic. and rub n buff finishes the best anyway. Thank you in advance for your help and thanks for this vid it was great!

    In the film, the headpiece has text on the wings on one of the sides and a small rope like border around the edge. Has anyone seen a 3D printable version with these features?
    [Edit] Just read that there were apparently two versions used in the film. Just re-checked, Marion/Bar medallion and wise man scene versions both seem to have no text on the wings, but have the rope effect around the edge.

    Awesome tutorial, when using spastix have you ever tried clear coating it with Aqua gloss then adding the yellow tint? It should affect the reflectivity less since it will add a barrier between the chrome and the solvents of the Tamiya paint, I'm gonna try it on C3PO

    • @HappyTrooperDotCom
      @HappyTrooperDotCom  4 года назад +1

      Because the Tamiya clear colors are also acrylic (just like Alclad Aqua Gloss), there wasn't a need to put a barrier. The Tamiya went on top of the Spaz Stix without any issue. It did not affect the chrome paint underneath. Thank you for watching & good luck with your C-3PO :)

      @@HappyTrooperDotCom good to know I though it was lacquer based,have you seen that stained glass paint for painting faux stained glass? I'll have to experiment, I used it before to paint the inside of my back to the Future II Pepsi can to make it look like there was cola inside, turned out really good.

  • @SynthesisEnt

    Where can I get the jewels to put inside this? I used the rub and buff method to create it

  • @enermaxstephens1051

    What would happen if you didn't sand the primer? Would it still turn out ok? It must be ok because there's no way to sand every nook and crevice of that medallion. So some areas didn't get sanded, the just got painted.

  • @bonesawisready684

    This isn't fair. I have on several projects used Spaz Stix Chrome, with exact same undercoating of primer filler followed by gloss black, and it has never come out close to that shiny for me.
