One of the things that Alastor's part of "Finale" does that I like so much is how it allows us to see just for one moment how he actually came to care for the people of the Hotel and then he immediately refutes it because he sees it as a weakness and he doesn't want to have any.
I think its less that, and more him thinking about how the story will be told. The subtitles put the line you talk about in quotes and he says it from a 3rd person perspective. And he's disgusted at the fact he would be portrayed as anything other than himself. He is scared and angry throughout the entire section. His ears pinned back like a frightened deer. The way he growls and how his smile falters and becomes more of a grimace. The extermination has made him realize he needs to get serious. Because someone like Alastor picks his battles wisely so he's likely never lost. And so he's been faced with his own mortality in a fight he had no choice but to participate in because of his deal. This entire incident has hardened his resolve to escape his deal but its also made him scared. He knows he isn’t in control but it took him nearly dying for that to sink in. And it *scares* him, he's arrogant and a control freak.
He's mocking the headlines that will be told about him due to his disapearance during the fight. At no point in that song does he indicate he cares for the people at the hotel
@calebjones7868 I see it as the face of the sudden realization that she was willingly allowed millions of deaths for no reason....plus I can imagine she will have a hard time giving an explanation to the other higher-ups.
"Ready for this" is Golden Age Musicals the Song. It's the "inspire the town" song you can find in musicals like Hello Dolly (which this episode's name was inspired by, Rosie even is modeled and based off Carol Channing's performance of Dolly), The Music Man, Singing in the Rain, Oklahoma, etc etc. There's also a reason it sounds so parade-y, it's supposed to elicit the power and importance of a marching band which the ensemble becomes in spirit. That's something it draws from 76 Trombones from Music Man. Also the finale song follows the exact template for a big musical finale song. It starts unique and at a low point for the main character (something that's common but more so in more modern musicals), then the reprise of the main character's "I Want" song comes on but from the perspective of the other characters showing how far they've come, it launches into a true ensemble piece incorporating all the principal characters, and ends full circle by doing a slight twist on the opening song that's usually alluded to throughout the show. It's near perfect. BUT ALSO there's a reason that Finale songs aren't people's favorites from Musicals. Finales may be technically impressive and emotionally impactful, but the whole point of them is to put a button on the end of a viewing experience. On their own they lack the context of the viewing experience and just sound like they're little bits and pieces of the rest of the musical strung together. So I don't blame them for not putting the Finale higher on the tier list. Hazbin Hotel suffers from something that a lot of musicals do and that's the fact that their most impactful and technical song is the last one and it requires context of the show. Stage musicals compensate for this because you can't view parts of a stage show on their own meaning to see any of it you basically have to see all of it. Hazbin is a TV show though so people will judge it based on clips they find and decide ahead of time whether they see any of it, let alone all of it.
“More than anything” is B but the reprise is S. I would’ve switched the two personally Lucifer and Charlie’s duet was one of the most beautiful songs. And visually so amazing. (Just my opinion)

13:54 Later in the episode they're literally making out. Also, before everything was made noncanon they were together but Val's still a piece of work and abused him breaking his screen and we see the toxicity in episode 2
I think my current fav is Out For Love ❤ but I adore the Finale song. That one got me crying my eyes out because wowza!!! I thought Sir Pentious was for sure dead and they hang a statue of Dazzle!!

If Alastor wasn’t being metaphorical. In a mythology (not sure if Christian) Alastor is a angel who revenges violent acts and in canon comics he saves a lamb from almost being butchered. I don’t actually think he will be a fallen angel but it’s a cool coincidence
Alastor Theory Theory Obviously spoilers for episode 7 and 8, so leave of you haven't watched them. But my theory is that Alastor is a fallen angel. This might be overdone, but it's still a theory nonetheless. Point 1: The Song & His Wings During Alastor's part during the song Finale, in episode 8 (I forgot the name) He says "Once I figure out how to unclip my wings, Guess who will be pulling all the strings" Inthe show, we only see a few characters with wings, those being Adam, Lute, Sera, Emily, Lucifer, and Charlie. What do these characters have in common? They are all angelic. Adam, Lute, Sera, and Emily all are in heaven, Lucifer used to be an angel, and Charlie has angelic blood. Alastor stating he wants to unclip his wings represents him wanting to go back to heaven and have freedom, as stated in the song, but can't, due to being on a leash, as said by Husk in episode 5. Point 2: Lilith and Her Deal With Heaven Although this doesn't state Alastor directly, it will later on in this point. As seen at the end of episode 8, Lilith is on a beach, on a chair, as Lute goes to her, and states that Adam has died, and she needs to go down to Hell and kill someone. The only person that would make sense would be Charlie. Because Lute special says Adam died, we assume that Lilith made a deal with heaven, that when Adam dies, she would kill Charlie. There is no evidence on why she would want Adam dead, but we do know she doesn't like him, this trying to make heaven kill Adam for Charlie to die. Due to Lucifer having extreme love for his family, it most likely rubbed off on Lilith. She couldn't bare having her daughter dying in front of her, let alone by her hands, so, she made a deal with Alastor, that in return for power, she would own his soul. This is proven by Alastor seeing a green light during the song Finale, and the neon green color is associated with chains, as Alastor's chains against Husk is green. Lilith told Alastor to go and kill Charlie, but Alastor, after going to the hotel, started to like everyone at the hotel, becoming friends. From what Alastor says during the start of episode 7, a smile can mean a lot of things. Alastor always smiling could be a mask for him not wanting to kill someone he views as a friend, but, he gets reminded that he needs to comply with Lilith's deal after almost dying to Adam, immediately losing all of the bond he made with the Hotel. Point 3: The Disgust Of Sinners Many heavenly characters show a clear distane for hell and those who live there, those being Adam, Sera, Lute, and maybe even Lucifer. These characters all used to be angels, or currently are. I included Lucifer, as in episode 5, he clearly states his people are the worst. How would this tie into Alastor being an angel? Well, Alastor has been killing off overlords, as said by Mimzie. Overlords control an extreme amount of the Pride Ring in hell. What better was to topple Hell over than to destroy the ones with the most power. Alastor has been killing overlords due to him hating sinners, a quality shown only by angels. So then, why does he seem to respect Zestial and Rosie? Alastor is smart, and wouldn't want to pick fights he would lose, meaning he would try to get on Zestial and Rosie's good sides, as to make sure he wouldn't die. Viziepop has states in a stream that Alastor is a weaker overlord. Although I do not know what stream it is from, many have been saying it, so I can assume it is true. Alastor is usually tied to a Wendigo, as seen at the end of Stay Gone and his shadow in Finale. Wendigos are a symbolization of greed and power. We assume that because Husk no longer has control over the sould, as there is no proof of it, meaning Alastor most likely gained Husk's souls, and killing more and more Overlords would mean more and more souls, and a desire for power and greed, representing a Wendigo. That is really all of it, but yeah, Alastor might be a fallen angel until proven otherwise.
"Unclip my wing" Definitely metaphoric, more likely meaning that Alastor is actually stronger than what we have seen, by the deal with ??? restrains him. ??? likely being who is also the source of all the red eyes that are scattered on the scenery.
yeah genuinely. i think it's insanely likely that lilith owns alastor's soul and they made a deal. would also explain why alastor hates lucifer so much LOL
Ooo going off of the bonus additional songs(that aren’t in the show)a really good one is Alastairs game by the living tombstone y’all should check it out if you haven’t alreadyy
the best theory i've seen so far for who owns alastors souls is lilith, and my personal theory is that alastor will betray chalie and use the deal he made with her to somehow gain leverage to make lilith release his soul at least if lilith even cares for charlie anymore.
One theory i saw was that alastor's deal is with lucifers ex wife lilith. That's why he is "helping" charlie That's also a good reason why he is bitter towards lucifer aswell. And she would be much more powerful then him and she has been missing in the show for awhile
Ready for this, the style your mentioning reminds me of those old war posters to get you to sign up now. That old timey wartime advertisement, your country needs you! Which is just thematically perfect.
I'm wondering if the Harlequin aesthetic of certain demons and hell-born is drawn from Lucifer and Charlie or if it's the other way around, it's super interesting.
Overlord theory So when Alistor comes to the hotel we later see him at an overlord meeting than in the episode hello Rosie we meet another overlord, What if through the seasons we meet all overlords through out hell and they all make a conection with the hazbin hotel
Hell is Earth on Hardcore mode. More dangerous. More tempting. Harder to be a decent person. And even harder to die. Which, I assume, is why you end up going straight to heaven if you manage it there.
11:55 i feel like in the ned the compromise is that there's still going to be exterminations but the time is longer and the purpose is different Isntead of just killing every demon seen it's now Still killing but the redeemed will be saved and the irredeemable will die
I don't think Pentious went to heaven because he happened to die after Charlie redeemed him. I think he went to heaven because he sacrificed himself to try and save the others, thus redeeming himself in death, so I don't think just killing people because they've been good will get them to heaven; I think they'd have to die in a noble way.
Sir pentious wasnt killed. He was deemed redeemed and transported to heaven just before the blast. Making a sacrifice play and sticking it to THE man. If angelic magic had hit pentious he couldnt have respawned
@@wmooring it kind of is supported though. Angelic magic can hurt a soul just as much as angelic weapons can. Lucifer was about to kill Adam with a fireball. If you die to angelic things you are perma dead. That's been a fact. If you aren't then you can heal or respawn. If pentious had actually been hit by the blast he'd be gone. Call it divine intervention or whatever but it just adds up more. He stuck it to the man and made the sacrifice play whether he actually had to stay and take the bullet or not is irrelevant. He was ready to die for his friends. So God or whoever saw he was redeemed and sent him to heaven last second. As Adam's blast was blink of an eye fast. Not to say there weren't casualties. The egg bois are gone. R.i.p. frank. But it doesn't make sense for pentious to die and go back to heaven after. As every other soul that dies is just dead forever. It adds up more with what the show has given us that he didn't get hit by the blast. It's just a shame charlie doesn't know he's alive or that redemption is possible. And seras face seems like she made try to hide pentious from other angels or something in season 2
@@anabsolnamednyx899 he means me saying he never died first. Even though its stated that if he were to have been killed by angelic magic he wouldn't be able to come back to life in heaven.
@@DJGamingBonanza In Vivziepop's own words "we were comfortable killing him off like that because we knew we were gonna bring him back." He did die and respawn, the rules are just more complex then we originally thought.
I think that Alistai is a fallen and I’m thinking an important one. I think his deal is with Lilith. I think he’s Gabriel and I think he was a exorcist
Ngl the fact you ranked Charlie and Vaggies More than anything in S but the original in B is very strange considering that song has emotional weight as well and its literally the same song but longer and different lyrics
Okay hear me out, I thinking alaster made the deal with Lilith. They were both gone for 7 years. Whatever her deal she made with Adam had to do with Him as well
I'd love to have seen the "Thank you and Goodnight" song here, it was like a tribute by some of the main cast from the pilot, it is more fansong, but I think it would've been nice as a bonus, maybe when you guys rank the first songs from Season 2 you can include it
What is the genre of “Ready for This”? “Parade music”? 🤔 I ask because the cannibals singing back-up reminded me of back-up singing in Muppets movies like “Somebody’s Getting Married” in _Muppets Take Manhattan_ . 🤔 | Regarding the show overall, I’m surprised I don’t hear it being compared to _Paradise Lost_ and _His Dark Materials_ . All three stories famously involve a Luciferian rebellion against Heaven, with _Hazbin Hotel_ and _His Dark Materials_ being explicit about how the audience is supposed to root for the Luciferian rebellion. 😈 | Anyhow, very interesting rankings from you. 😊🎼🎶🎵
More than Anything with Lucifer and Charlie, a full length song, only got B... while More than Anything with Vaggie and Charlie, a partial throwback to the first one, got an S?
13:50 They are a couple, but honestly if you weren't told that then I don't think anyone would think they're anything but business partners. As for Alastor, majority believe Lilth has control Alastor and that seems like the most likely option since literally no one else makes sense right now. Possibly Eve but we literally have nothing on her.
I know some people say it is lazy writing, but I think the deas was with Lillith. They were both gone 7 years, then alaister comes back and tries to tie charlie down with a deal first thing. Failing that he is constantly helping her and trying to put her under his influence. Then finally gets the deal when she is desperate. I think he is going to use the deal with charlie to leverage himself out of the deal with charlie's mother.
I spent WAY too long trying to figure out what was going on with your abs before I figured out that was a dog in your lap. I need my eyes checked, I swear.
Correction from the end - the new Alastor VA doesnt sing in the bonus song, content creator brain mixed up my names 🫠

the fact that the cannibals have the most stable and healthy society in Pentagram city is a very funny and interesting aspect of the show.
And their leader is literally the most darling aunt like figure for Charlie!
The terrified look in Sera face always makes me chuckle.
I see it as more of a Confused/Shocked/Existential Crisis beginning look
@calebjones7868 I see it as the face of the sudden realization that she was willingly allowed millions of deaths for no reason....plus I can imagine she will have a hard time giving an explanation to the other higher-ups.
"Ready for this" is Golden Age Musicals the Song. It's the "inspire the town" song you can find in musicals like Hello Dolly (which this episode's name was inspired by, Rosie even is modeled and based off Carol Channing's performance of Dolly), The Music Man, Singing in the Rain, Oklahoma, etc etc.

Alastor Theory
Theory
Obviously spoilers for episode 7 and 8, so leave of you haven't watched them.

Tf you mean “unsupported by the actual episode” we literally see him arrive in heaven
Finale deserves more love 😔
Ngl should have ranked "Thank You and Goodnight" as well
I told my friend Ready For This is like a demented version of the song from the Greatest Showman
Emmys and Grammys for EVERYONE!!!
I think that Alistai is a fallen and I’m thinking an important one. I think his deal is with Lilith. I think he’s Gabriel and I think he was a exorcist
Or the Angel of Vengence Alastor that fell.
You forget the song thank you and goodnight by the old voice cast :)
Hm, still didn’t do The Living Tombstone Alastor Song, huh? Oh well.
Anyway, this was a Nice Ranking, i wonder what we could expect from Season 2?
I LOVE THIS
You guys should totally listen to Alastor's Game by The Living Tombstone.
Ngl the fact you ranked Charlie and Vaggies More than anything in S but the original in B is very strange considering that song has emotional weight as well and its literally the same song but longer and different lyrics
finale not being in s tier is a crime lol
You should rank Paranoid DJ's Hazbin & Helluva songs
Okay hear me out, I thinking alaster made the deal with Lilith. They were both gone for 7 years. Whatever her deal she made with Adam had to do with Him as well
the theory was lilith owns his soul
It'd be great if the vees are called that not only cuz of their names but also cuz they're in a vee poly relationship
You should do halos in hell it is so amazing
I cant believe more than anything is in b
Bro hear me out…”stayed gone” tho
I know some people say it is lazy writing, but I think the deas was with Lillith. They were both gone 7 years, then alaister comes back and tries to tie charlie down with a deal first thing. Failing that he is constantly helping her and trying to put her under his influence. Then finally gets the deal when she is desperate.
I think he is going to use the deal with charlie to leverage himself out of the deal with charlie's mother.
Poison deserves better but I agree that loser baby is very good👍👍👍👍
Loser Baby should be 6th on the S tier
I spent WAY too long trying to figure out what was going on with your abs before I figured out that was a dog in your lap. I need my eyes checked, I swear.
Are you going to do Helluva Boss? They eventually get at least one song per episode
Hell yeah we are
I'm pretty sure the Vees are a poly relationship, with Vox and being with both, but Velvette and Valentino are not together. Not 100% on that though
1:31 ээх новый паркет ( пол) 😅😂😂
Please cover "Heaven 2 hell" by black gryphon too
Wait so you put more then anything reprise in S tier but the normal version in B tier😭😭
Listened to "One Hell of a Team" by AmaLee and Divide Music? U really should, I recommend it.
Oh you miss 1 song is thank you and good night
Insane is best tho it deserves s tier😡😈
Please test the German Songs 😊
gg
:3
Honestly im not a fan of More than anything at all 😬
The “unclip my wings” line bothers me too. It felt like they really just needed to rhyme with Strings.😅
"promo sm" 🤣
