The "If Hell is forever then Heaven must be a lie" moment was so powerful, it gives me chills everytime I listen to it.
It's the perfect counter to Adam's banger of a song from episode 1. I loved it.

I like how Mimzy appears out of nowhere, I think it's a meta joke that "everyone was waiting for her" because some fans of the show knew about her existence alongside other possibly scrapped characters that would've been part of the hotel staff and her connection to Alastor would unravel misteries about his backstory and emotional connections.
also a "fat lady sings" joke.
Her tattoo is also a Mammon tattoo from Helluva Boss
She was meant to be part of the main cast, so I was surprised that we didn't see anything of her at all during the pilot, & was wondering if she had been scrapped or not, so her just bursting in was very funny.
@@CaptainCFalcon oh she actually appears in the pilot but as a short cameo when Charlie sings about the sinners of hell, you can see her almost at the end with more bird-like features.

Alastor doesn’t actually see Charlie as a daughter, he’s just trying to screw with Lucifer and make him mad. He’s barely cared about her and what she’s doing until Lucifer showed up. Might have something to do with Lilith.
He's manipulating her to get her to trust him
He definitely cares about her and what she's doing imo, it's an investment, but he just didn't really have to try to be a pillar of support for her to lean on until Lucifer came around.

YES! I'm not the only one who got that vibe! For More Than Anything, it hit so hard for me; I cried.
I think Alastor is mostly playing up the father angle with Charlie in order to piss off Lucifer. Now why does Alastor hate Lucifer? That’s the question I’m really curious about.
Alastor is 100% on Liliths leash, which would explain his hatred. Real question is: why is he helping with hotel? Is it because he was ordered by Lilith to protect Charlie, or does he want to make deal with Charlie and use her soul as bargain chip for getting free from that leash?
Alastor might want to piss off Lucifer :
- Because he's powerful
- So Charlie gets the meeting
- For a secret third thing
@@vojak01 info: in the beggining of the firts episode Charlie say that her mother was busy with something and it has been 7 years, and Alastor did disappeard 7 years ago. Also, when Alastor came in he was uberpowerful at the point of being able to detrones a whole lot of overlords.
So maybe he made a deal with Lilith who made him super powerfull and 7 years ago Lilith reclamed Alastor's soul. Then Lilith heard about her daughter's plans and made a deal with Alastor that he can return to hell only if he help Charlie.
Now that we know alastor intentions I think he just want to be lucifer, the boss that runs everything
he feels intimidated by lucifer, alastor is the one whos craving control at all times (something he doesnt have anymore, which is why he had the breakdown when he overestimated himself in the finale), so being in the presence of lucifer, the big man on top makes him defensive
Also, fun fact. During the song “Welcome to Heaven” you can see Angel Dust’s sister Molly. You can see her at the bottom right at the end of the song and when they posed during the “hot” scene. She’s the one in hot pink.
You ever think about the fact Molly probably wanted to ask Charlie about Angel.

I realized today that I think Alastor hates Lucifer because he sold his soul to him and is trying to find his way out of the contract. That’s why he wants to get close to Charlie and get her in his debt.
It cant be lucifer. Lucifer didnt know alastor. Now lilith makes sense, or another seraphim like michael or Gabriel. @dragonwaz
“More Than Anything” is def at least A tier for more, the strength and emotion the Voice Actor’s singing voice is really key for me. Plus the character development is great. I think I’ll take character development over plot development is I think about it enough. Not to say that a song can’t have both. “You didn’t Know” is top tier musical ensemble song, that absolutely get you pumped for the final act. When Charlie and Emily jump into that power duet and harmonize so perfectly I was blown away. So Good. Also Alistor is definitely messing with Lucifer for sure, which might have a place within his ulterior motive for the Hotel. It was so funny to see him purposefully get under Lucifer’s skin. Lol
Insane was sung by the original VA of Alastor from the pilot, it’s a very well loved fan song! If you enjoyed Insane, you should watch ”Thank You and Goodnight”! It’s a farewell song from all the pilot’s VAs!
"More than Anything" is my favorite so far. I just have a soft spot for father/daughter relationship and these two are just too sweet for each other. And it helped me deal with some of my trauma too.
I cry every time I hear “More Than Anything”… but it’s not for the reason everyone else does. Actually, it’s for both the few bits of dialogue RIGHT before the song starts and between their verse swap, the scene with all the angels with all their spears aimed at Luci, and the lyrics on the scene where Luci is showing Charlie his winged swan/duck. As someone who fell head over heels with Luci the minute he appeared on screen (thanks for that Jeremy Jordan), seeing just how broken he’s become thanks to heaven hurts every time. Don’t get me wrong, the daddy-daughter stuff definitely adds to the pain, but the sheer heaviness of those scenes is always just so gut wrenching, ESPECIALLY w/ the spears. It’s just such powerful imagery with both he red background, the silhouetted figures, and the absolutely exhausted look on his face.
Something about More Than Anything I don't see anyone talk about is the line "Not be pulled apart again." I think the wording there is very intentional. "Pulled" suggests that someone else was involved in straining Charlie and Lucifer's relationship (probably Lilith IMO), and I really hope we hear more about that soon.
I also get the impression that Lilith kept Charlie from her dad
In the Alastor vs Lucifer song it’s really playing into Alastor’s character in that he loves to flex his power (shutting Vox down, towering over sinners, tugging Husk’s leash, etc). Lucifer is one of the only beings in hell Alastor can’t flex his power over SO he flexes his bond with Charlie over Lucifer.
I thought the one shutting the city down was Vox because he malfunctioned while still plugged into the system

"More Than Anything" is the best song you listened in this video period, you had both character development and moving the plot forward in the song as well as amazing animation. Comparing that to all the other songs it is higher but the thing i think that puts it over the top is the song's replay-ability, "More Than Anything" has the vibe of being able to listen to it not only over and over but really at anytime. The song works both in the musical and as a stand-alone song itself, whereas "You Didn't Know" doesn't have the same feeling its a very musical-ly song but you can't detach it from Hazbin Hotel and personally I think it is too wordy like opera-like. Although still think "You Didn't Know" is S-tier just "More Than Anything" > "You Didn't Know"
Oh Alastor is absolutely doing it just to mess with Lucifer, he was gonna play the rol of "love interest" at first but as soon as Vaggie was mentioned he swiched to rol model/father figure.

I think it shows my age that I’m more than a little disappointed no one seems to get the Devil with a golden fiddle reference.

Another thing I love about You Didn't Know is like the different song genre going on on one song and still fit so well. Also about the fire in Sera eyes is tbe reflection of tbe fire behind Emely making her look more insane

It’s a powermove, considering that he can’t intimidate Lucifer with pure strength/power, so he is plying with Lucifers insecurities
One detail I love in You Didn’t Know is that when it goes to the shot of Sera with the fire reflected in her eyes, you can hear the music start twisting a bit and become a bit creepy before quickly jumping back up as Emily takes back over

Lucifer insulted his Work, called him a Has been and openly admits to never have heared of him.
We alraedy saw that Alastor takes his reputation very seriously. Like when he got irritated when Carmilla admited she didn't care where he went to.
And Lucifer is one of the few people that he is weaker as, so he instantly gets pissed off by him.
So Alastor crashes his song and exaggerats his closeness to Charlie to mess with him.

More than anything and Whatever it takes being so low will hurt until the day you guys finish your tier list, but I enjoy watching your reactions and appreciation to the songs
There is a another song by all the OG Pilot Voice Actors, as a final farewell and it's called 'Thank you, and Goodnight". It's very sweet and has a lot of heart. I'd recommend giving it a listen, and maybe even ranking it ;)

For me all the episode 5 & 6 songs where S tier except Welcome to Heaven which I more or less would put in the same spot as you did.
Just a suggestion but if you haven't then maybe in the next one drop in "Thank you and good night" it was a song done by the original VAs from the pilot which got released on youtube after the Amazon show dropped.

My theory is that Alastor is in a relationship either romantic or a slave like one like husk, with lilith because both disappeared 7 years ago and now he suddenly appears to help charlie. Also if its romantic it would make even more sense about why he is pissed of about Lucifer
I love Electroswing, so Best Dad hits my happy song spot, except the end of it. I actually didn't like Mimzy in the song lol. I did like her character though and It didn't make the song less than S. Also Lucifer aggressively playing the violin will never not be funny. I also wanna know if Alastor is just doing the Dad fight to get under Lucifer's skin or if there is more to it.
More than anything made me cry. It's so beautiful. A tier for me. I'm a sucker for a beautiful duet. Welcome to heaven was kind of Mid to me. I liked it, but I agree with C.
But You Didn't Know, I love an ensemble power song! Its the Build up to the intermission that makes you want to get back to your seat as soon as possible because you know shit is going down in the next act. The call backs to other songs that came before. The back and forth. My inner theatre nerd is bursting at the seams at that point.

I'm VERY conflicted about Mimzy's appearance in the first song. At first I thought she was just some random character they threw in for filler, but as she stayed, I realized she was there for more than one very crucial reason; most important being, Alastor's character growth. Not only did she provide some backstory for us, but she also provided a moment where we see Alastor actually say "Get the fuck off my lawn or I will make you." While yes, he has his own ulterior motives, he still is willing to protect the hotel, which is something we never would normally see Alastor do: Protect something.
The start of Lucifers song really reminds me of the genies intro song from Aladdin
The OG voice actors also put together one other unofficial song that they released on the premiere day of the show called "Thank You and Goodnight." You should include that in part 3.
Genuinely pissed that they put more than anything in B tier. It’s in the top 5 all day long. More than anything, Looser, Poison, Greatest Dad, and Stayed Gone are the winners of the show so far
Since you did the Alastor fan song at the end, can you please include some other fan songs, specifically from Paranoid DJ? I'd recommend Smile Like you Mean it, Use me Up, We're Sure to Drown, Get Hooked, Pop, Eyes on Me. Paranoid DJ's songs are so good that one of them became canon in Helluva Boss(Just Look My way), so that's why I recommend them highly.

For me personally I’d put more than anything in high A low S but it’s a personal thing cause me and my own dad recently reconnected more and this song made me cry so hard and moved me so much

While Loser, Baby is my favorite just in terms of a fun well sung and written song, THIS breakdown in this song with Charlie and Emily was so good it gave me instant goosebumps. I feel its meant o encapsulate the entire message of the show and how things arent always black and white, and its their time to point it out to heaven personally. Amazing direction and song writing. Gives me chills every time I hear it.

If you believe that Alastor is drawing some attachment to the hotel, congrats, you would be his victim. Alastor is all the worst parts of serial killers, Alastor exists cause they can't just call a character "Ted Bundy". Some of the most monstrous serial killers in history were charismatic, charming, handsome men who knew how to draw in the heartstrings or enact sympathy on their victims. Alastor is a man who tortured his victims till he got bored and then devoured his victims and put on a smile to hide his true nature. Yes, Alastor is a great character, but he is without a doubt a narcissistic sadist who really wants to get under Lucifer's skin because he's also INCREDIBLY petty. Alastor is a petty man and he hates anyone having more power than him, Lucifer is a person he cannot manipulate directly, so he is playing up the father figure to get under his skin to have just some form of control. Especially when we learn he is on a leash himself (most likely to Lillith). I am willing to bet money that the only reason he is consistently trying to get in Charlie's good graces is to make a deal for her soul so to trade Charlie's soul for his own to get his freedom back from Lillith.

...whelp, I was making a detailed comment about the best songs so far in my opinion in different categories but the page refreshed and deleted my comment out of my control, so to summarize-
Story: You Didn't Know.
Solo: Poison.
Duet: Loser, Baby.
Battle: Respectless.
Alastor(of course he needs his own category): Stayed Gone
You Didn't Know has it's own three act structure when you break it down, it goes from the debate over Angel Dust to the reveal of the exterminations to the reveal of Vaggie and end of the song, in a full beginning, middle, and end.
Poison doesn't have much contest as a solo since many songs in the series are duets are choirs, but even taking that into account, it's easily in the top 5 overall.
Loser Baby is a vibe and a song of solidarity for not just Husk and Angel, but all people going through hard times who feel like they're alone, or that no one understands them, when they're not.
Respectless is a masterful introduction to the personalities of multiple characters, and showcases the power struggle between both heaven and hell, but also between the younger and older overlords, with the Vees wanting war while the older more experienced overlords being cautious, each for their own reasons. As well has having some of the hardest lines in the whole series so far.
And Stayed Gone is a masterful introduction to a character we already knew but rarely see the true face of, it's less of a battle between Vox and Alastor and more a game of cat and mouse, where Alastor sits back and lets Vox get a head start only to slowly and systematically goad him into losing his cool and shatter his confidence, making it less of a battle and more of a statement.
Alastor is back, and we still don't know what that means, only that he has big plans, and we know nothing about them except that he's doing it right in front of us the entire time.
These last two episodes are gonna be insane. Given the names of the episodes, "Hello Rosie", and "The show must go on", we can only tell something big is gonna happen, likely involving Alastor, and another overlord named Rosie, who was the lady with razor sharp teeth at the overlord meeting that sat near Alastor, we know that due to the captions for episode 3, and other information.
Something crazy is about to go down in 18 hours when the last two episodes drop today, and the internet is about to explode when it happens.
Nah more than anything is the best and vey underrated

I'm kinda hoping the whole Vaggie reveal is handled pretty maturely.

It's less about her being an angel and more about her being a former exorcist. That being said, Vaggie is a perfect example that people can change, which is Charlie's whole philosopy.
I'd say my tierlist is simply S and B. And nothing in-between. In tier B there are mostly songs from the pilot, also Vox/Alastor song and "It start's with sorry".
The rest were total bangers, every song was fantastic in its own way and this is why I feel like I can't simply choose which one is 'better'. They are all top tier.
Alastor was a serial killer when he was alive, he was mistaken for a deer whilst hiding a body and killed by a hunter hence him being a deer. He is also shown eating raw venisin for breakfast. When he first arrived at first he didnt do anything told by who i refer to as "short fat lady" when she was asked about alastor by Angel. Then all of a suddenthe "Heavy hitters" of the Overlords were going missing. Alastor broadcasted their screams over his broadcast. He was then revealed as the "Radio Demon". Some of the overlords sold their souls to him to keep their powers one of which is revealed to be Husker, and some speculate that Niffty could also be one of said Overlords. Its also revealed that Alastor also sold his soul to someone, the most likely suspect is Lillith. He's also a MASSIVE Mommas boy❤. 😊❤

poison I felt that deeply emotionally it told me a lot about angel dust as a character and how he became of Hazbin hotel and even how he is expressed as a character as well as how where he is emotionally all throughout the show
I don't know if id say that lucifer is a "bad" dad, you can see he really cares about her, but cant connect with her. He's got the feel of someone with ADHD while fighting depression. She's got 100% of his attention when their together, but "out of sight out of mind," and unable to remember important things that she tells him. ADHD to a T.

"More than anything" being that low feels almost like a crime, I would personally probably put it 3rd maybe 2nd best of the whole show. Maybe just swap it with "Best dad." But that's the interest of rankings, opinions differ and it's interesting to see how they can, I never would've expected anyone to rank it low.

Alastor, in the singing battle with Lucifer is trying something very underhanded. His objective is for Charlie to owe him a favor but while Lucifer is in the picture, Charlie can rely on her father. He cannot go toe-to-toe with Lucifer via magic + power, but his objective isn't to destroy Lucifer, just to make himself trusted in Charlie's eyes.
And by also antagonizing Lucifer, in the role (father with daughter) both Lucifer and Charlie are clearly self-conscious about, he could make Lucifer blow up and potentially destroy Charlie's trust in her father. He even attacked the Loan Sharks to showcase what help he provides while Charlie's father is right there.
Alastor's scheme mainly goes to plan thanks to Vaggie not being there to support Charlie and Charlie feeling alone after the Vaggie reveal.
Mimzies tattoo is for Mammon, the deadly sin of greed we meet in helluva boss.

Lets be honest.. "Welcome to heaven" sucked because the greatest musical angel in biblical history was banished from Heaven. I'm betting that Lucifer is the most powerful musically... possibly more powerful than Lilith, he just lost his spark or passion, so he didn't sing anymore.
Alistor and Rosie even mention this mid song "Rosie: They're dancing along, they're singing her song! ... Alistor: She's bound to pass the test of princess of hell! ... Both: Like her daddy she is madly powerful!". Not once do they give credit to Lilith for her musical ability.

Honestly I think Alister probably care very little for Charlie (Probably, IDK for sure, obviously), and is definitely doing it to specifically jab at Lucifer. Why? I don't know yet. Maybe something to with Lilith, or that he's Angelic, or he's not evil enough, or he just doesn't like him. I haven't the foggiest clue :/

When you do part 3 for the season 1 finale, you should definitely include “Thank You And Goodnight”, a surprise song from the original voice cast of the pilot
Lilith’s face being blank is a stylistic choice for the song scene. There’s a lot of background photos that show us lilith’s face in the episodes.
