I Retired from the Marine Corps in 2012 and went to work for the FL Park Service. I only worked for the Park Serv for a little under a year but it got me into Rx Burning. Which lead to me getting a job with the Fl Forest Service as a Wild Land Firefighter.. I worked for them for 4 years.... I swear I humped more miles and did waaaay more exciting, adrenaline filled, badass stuff in those 4 years than I did in 20 years in the Corps.....I have a great job now that pays way more but I sure do miss the "fireline"!!!!! Keep up the hard work!
After knowing Pranay for roughly 14 years, he is definitely one of the most kind/heavy hearted and hardworking guys I’ve ever met. I knew somewhere along the line with his experience and career path that he would be one of the largest voices in the fire service. Remember like it was yesterday when he was 16 in the fire classes we were in together haha. Appreciate all that your doing brother. Stay safe!
Keep up the great work Pranay, too bad it doesn't sound as though there's a real good chance of a lot of rain coming your way to help out at all any time soon.... God Bless you and all the rest of the men and women out there and stay safe....
That giveaway though...if you gave me a new truck and a new boat, I’d donate them both to the nearest Veteran’s 501c3. #JustSayin The way 2020 has gone I’m going to need some karma stored up.
At some point they need to turn the Guard loose on the fires. Military mobility and resource mobilization is vastly superior to fire groups'. Fire crews drive cross country to honor mutual aid agreement, having the Air Force or Air Guard fly crews around, then utilizing guard helos for transport rather than just for bucket drops would make a huge difference. Similarly, we use NG hand crews, but not the engineers and their equipment to cut fire breaks. Firefighting orgs hold on too tightly to command and traditional methods. Any UAV with thermal sensors would provide exponentially better situational awareness than what is available to civilian agencies. Also it is time to make a uniformed fire service with state guard elements. Uniformed service like PHS or NOAA Comissioned Corps. Right now agencies hire firefighters for 4-6 months then they have to find a different job that is okay with them leaving for 4-6months every year. The employment protections for Guard and Reserve members should be extended to wildland firefighters as well as health insurance.
Holy shit..real cool to see someone from Indian heritage here..Big fan and ardent follower of this channel and Black Rifle
