- The Eternals ends with an enormous Celestial space baby turning into marble while its being born form the earth's crust. That's....a pretty big deal. There has to be further ramifications for the marvel Cinematic Universe. We think this could awaken the king of Atlantis...Namor, setting him up to be the villain in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In this video we break down Shuri's role in this scenario, who could be the next Black panther, and how Namor would fit into the future of the MCU.

That’s an understandable point of view but as a film it wasn’t good. As episodes the MCU is one of the greatest TV shows of all time. But eternals as a film wasn’t good

Two things I got from this video:
1. Namor would be a better villain/anti-hero in the next eternals movie because celestial maybe responsible for Atlantis' doom thousand years ago and Namor wants revenge.
2. Namor's supposed "anti-vibranium" Weapon could be what killed Chadwick boseman's T'challa in Atlantis first retaliations against the surface world

Good ideas. But if Namor is the one that kills T’Challa, he’ll always be a hated villain instead of an anti-hero. I’d find it hard to ever root for the character responsible for killing Black Panther. Maybe an Atlantean other than him could be responsible which sparks a war between the two. Wakanda thinking it was an assassination ordered by Namor. They fight, eventually the truth comes out and Namor becomes an uneasy ally in the end.
It’s a simple, overused plot but hopefully they can come up with something akin to that.
@@JNel77 True. But if it isn't Namor isn't the King of Atlantis then it would really diminish Black Panther's death and does not honor it. Maybe namor just never becomes a loved hero? Maybe more like a Thanos or Loki. Loved but not always in a good way. What is T'Challa leaves early in the movie to go on a big mission and returns at the end of the movie to jump on a antivibranium grenade or something to save Wakanda one last time. Minimal usage of Chad's cgi and a meaningful death but makes the focus of the middle of the movie on Wakanda's other characters.
Namor is someone who can show in any property, who says he won't be in Eternals
Maybe since a baby is born underwater in the WF trailer maybe the fight is between Namor’s father and Wakanda and not Namor and Wakanda exactly. He could be groomed into believing they are evil. They are leaders of once top world and now lower… but how can they explain how they were air breathing beings once and now are water breathing beings?? I guess I better watch Eternals or hit up my old comic library.
I think you need to make a video detailing what the difference is between an antihero and a villain. The nuance is subtle, but properly explored I think it can make for an interesting and entertaining watch.
I agree. To me, an antihero will be morally ambiguous, using the “ends justify the means” ideology, while having some semblance of heart and equity
The use of the word subtle is redundant, nuance already implies subtleness.
For those reading and those that see this, anti-heroes and villains are slightly similar yet vastly different. Anti-heroes are heroes with a lesser moral code or a motive that mostly benefits themselves first that just so happens to benefit society or the world, such as Deadpool or Punisher. Villains have a goal or morality that harms or conflicts with others, such as Skrulls or Red Skull. Anti-heroes are typically depicted as heroes who kill without a second thought which causes a morality check in comparison to someone like Iron Man who doesn't strictly kill.

@@ryanchong9965 Loved reading your explanation. Can I ask, would Jack Sparrow be considered an anti-hero? Whilst he may not necessarily kill people without a second thought he does tend to use people as a means to get what he wants which, happen to aline with what the protagonist is doing.
So there is one thing about the Atlantis myth that every cool story gets wholly and totally wrong, and they get that way by totally ignoring this thing.
Atlantis sank because of hubris. It was SUPPOSED to be destroyed as an object lesson. Sinking shouldn't make it COOLER.
But that's my ancient history riff, it's not that important.
I mean with this guy's thinking Atlantis' hubris kind of inadvertently caused their destruction. Their unchecked growth would lead to their demise but thats just a take

What If… they write Chadwick’s exit from being Black Panther as the first casualty between these two sides to instantly heighten the conflict and transition to the the next actor to take up that title? It would be fitting storyline wise, but it’s always difficult to keep telling a story once an actor has passed.

14:35 you know that could actually work despite the changed background, because the ancient aztecs were known for their brutality against their enemies, to the point that many of their enemies actually HELPED the conquering Spaniards. Could add some nuance and differentiate him from killmonger, since leaks have stated this film will explore colonization.

I think them using the ocean would be a good way to bring Killmonger back since his request was to buried in the ocean and that’s where Namor is. Maybe doing a sort of redemption story could have him go from helping Namor to taking over for T’Challa. Or they can have Nakia and T’Challa have a son who would eventually take the mantle from Shuri or M’Baku. I don’t envy the writers trying to explain why T’Challa isn’t around tho….

Boseman will not be replaced. They're pretty adamant about that. Making shuri the new panther will not go over well with most fans for multiple reasons. I just gave one of them.
Great insights! I'm rooting for Kilmonger to have been saved by tchalla and he takes over the mantle...reformed, but still dark. Killmonger is too epic to not keep in the mcu. Then we'd have anti-hero vs anti-hero, would make for an interesting dynamic

Like maybe the Snap in endgame accidentally brought Kilmonger back, and maybe being inspired by what T’challa did after he previously died and/or a heroic sacrifice at the beginning of Wakanda forever could cause him to change a bit and want to protect what is left of his cousin’s legacy, plus Michael B is just too good an actor to not bring back

I respect your opinion however i disagree with how to handle tchalla. I believe his character is way to important to kill off. I personally feel like Marvel should write his character into the background with this movie in anyway they want such as maybe having tchalla captured by namour and thought to be killed then bring him
back into the next movie so we have enough time to mourn chadwicks passing and move on in a sense and be ready for a new actor instead of killing him off. I didn’t know Chadwick personally but I don’t think he would want to take away the possibility of another black actor taking on the mantle. Plus if you kill off his character, his legacy is more easily forgotten about because marvel doesn’t reboot and keep these characters fresh in your mind like dc with batman or superman. There’s so much more story to be told about tchalla and wakanda as a whole and killing him off would be so much potential gone. I respect others opinions and takes on the matter, that’s just my personal feelings. Love your videos too homie!

I could never get with that “adapted to live under water” part. I mean, something that takes hundreds of thousands to many millions of years? So they “evolved” just before they drowned?
Something about way that you frame this makes me think about the Fantastic 4. The characters were originally supposed to be reflections of the 4 elements described by the ancients: Reed’s body flows like water. Sue becomes invisible, like the air around us. Johnny becomes living, furious flame. The Thing is made of rock, like the earth. In an expanded view of these elemental ties, wouldn’t it be cool if the Thing was able to root himself to the earth below him? Not the dirt, but down to the bedrock. He would have a much better chance of going head to head with Namor if it was absolutely impossible to knock him down. It would also be a cool counterpoint to Namor’s command of the seas. Imagine Ben Grimm at the bottom of the ocean, linked to a volcanic vent, channeling its power against Namor. He’s inside a force field , courtesy of Sue, he can manipulate the physical vents, and Johnny can direct the fiery power of the lava held within them. Reed strategizes.

My hope is that we get an alternate reality Killmonger back and he takes up the mantle of Black Panther. There was so much love for his performance that I could see them bringing him back via the multiverse.
Or they should just keep it simple and recast T'Challa 🤷🏽♂️ I love Chad as BP just like the next person but going out of their way to discontinue his story in the MCU just because he died is trash as hell, and I don't think even he would appreciate this and would want someone to carry the torch for him rather than just kill him off screen and "keep it movin."

Good morning Ryan, on this Wensday Aug 10th, 2022. I thank you and the Team at ScreenCrush for these interesting thoughts on this up coming movie. NOW as we are just months away from the movie.
The problem with this theory is that Atlantis was not seen in the Eternals so as far as we know it doesn't exist in the MCU. It would be hard to explain how the Eternals were helping all these human civilizations but skipped right past Atlantis.
And they were to never interfere in earthly conflicts and situations etc....so why help some and not the rest. Agreed
I would love to see Michael B. Jordan return and take the mantle as the new black panther. Its Wakanda so its believable they could heal him and he turns a corner. Killmonger was a good villain but i think they could change it up and it could work.
I agree.. he definitely killed it as Kilmonger but I wished he wasn't that character now that Chadwick isn't with us. Michael B Jordan is a helluva actor and I know for a fact, he could kill it as BP. They gotta bring Jordan back to the MCU, because imo, he's the only person I could see being BP besides Chadwick Boseman.

As he said in the video Atlantis could have been a brutal empire that enslaved and destroyed other and rising civilizations and that was not cool with Arishem because he needs the population increase.
In Eternals when Ajak was talking to Phastos she said something to the affect of Earth not developing too quickly so Phastos had to slow down on his technology for them.
@@giniabornnraised I don’t remember exactly what she said, but it i thought she was saying they weren’t ready for that kind of technological leap. Plus, she isn’t a very reliable source of truth since she was hiding the truth from Phastos and the rest of the gang.

Also, I forgot about the Blip. That delayed the emergence and Arishem was cool with it. Maybe he was cool with it being later but not earlier? IDK, this movie’s premise and world building were poorly executed

I agree Nakia should be more central to the continuing story of Wakanda in the MCU. That could be because I find spies more interesting than either warriors or wiz-kids. But also someone like a spy is better attuned to the politics of leadership.

Love the channel and insights. Keep em coming! I know I may be a little late to the party regarding this video/theory, but I'm definitely fascinated on how this Black Panther sequel is going to evolve.
I hear your Eternals/Celestial theory, but I really feel that Thanos' snap would have played an even bigger impact on the fate of Atlantis in the MCU. Assuming Namor survived the snap, he certainly would have been wondering WTF just happened to half my people! I could realistically see him sending his own spies (or war dogs, if you will) from Atlantis to infiltrate the surface world. This would also include Wakanda, as now there are fewer borders (a la falcon and winter soldier) and T'Challa's wish to open Wakanda to the world. Fast forward five years and everyone snapped back, and now you have an Atlantis spy who may have gained the trust of Wakanda and could get close to T'Challa.. ultimately playing a role in his off screen demise (I'm fan casting Tati Gabrielle) she flees back to Atlantis leaving Wakanda without a king or black panther.

I think when Tiamut began to rise it caused massive catastrophes like earthquakes and tsunamis around the world. It will be revealed that many people perished including T'Challa. That way it can happen off screen but they can still acknowledge his untimely and tragic passing.
This video got me even more stoked on Wakanda Forever, and it's already one of my most anticipated movies.
His vibranium makes him immune to every type of damage you have described though

Great story and ideas the only thing I would change is that they've gone to war before in the past maybe more than once, but haven't been seen for like hundreds of years, other than Namor for a small WWII cameo with Captain America!
