Just a bit of native information on Marion and Santee/ Cooper River. During may the alligators can be very aggressive due to their mating season and will rush you if you happen upon their nesting areas. I had a 12 ft gator chase me in my kayak for over a mile on the cooper river four years ago. He followed me without ceasing right on the side of me within one foot. When it is not mating season they are not really aggressive but I promise you they can be during may. Having a pistol is a personal choice but as a female angler and native, I always have a firearm for personal security and also in the event of an unexpected encounter. I assure you that I am not by any means a doomsday prepper. It’s a personal choice. Enjoy SC.
I can sure see that happening and I too have encountered some aggressive gators. Over at Bates Old River I ran into many such gators. It’s never happened at Sparkleberry; not that it can’t or won’t. Especially as you mentioned: mating season. For me, it has not been the norm. Having a weapon is certainly a good idea but I don’t agree with scaring the bejesus out of people. I’m with you on this though.
@@donnabonfrancesco6222 agreed. He should have been calm and explained things but possibly he was actually afraid of chat happened out there and was attempting to cover up for his fear. You know how that goes. Lol. Bates is amazing. You should explore the moncks corner black waters that lead into the cooper. It’s beautiful
@@donnabonfrancesco6222 absolutely. Enjoy watching your adventures. Great content. Thank you for all the thorough details. I often wonder about water depth on your videos in reference to how my hobie lynx pedal drive or any pedal drive kayak platform would perform.
We will be camping at Santee the fist week of June. Can't wait. Love your video!
I love lake Marion so much. I hope you guys have an awesome time.
As always; Fun Fun Fun

It’s a trolling motor with foot steering. It was a lot of fun.
