Your book of shadows is absolutely charming. I appreciate this look into the inner workings of your witchy mind. I’m in my early fifties and realized I was a witch during the pandemic. I’ve also embraced the inclusive Heathen movement and have considered myself a Heathen for almost two years now. I love your channel. I’m relatively new, but I get the feeling you realized you were a witch later in life as well. To me, discovering this during my “crone” years has brought a special meaning to my life as I was never able to have children. Witchcraft has made me feel generative in bringing “life” into my life and being empowered and learning to live authentically. I love the videos you’ve made so far, and when I heard that you live in Darbyshire - Pemberly sprung to mind, lol. I’m a huge Jane Austen fan. I really enjoy how positive and inclusive your attitude is. You don’t stand on dogma, but encourage self expression in the craft. Thank you for sharing! I’ve got some inspiration for things I could include. I have several books with various witchy content , but I regularly keep a book with my tarot reading, interpretations, communion with my gods and the spirits I work with as well as rituals. I’m exploring art magick as I have always been creatively driven. Th ask again and Blessed be.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful story and for your lovely kind comments. You’re absolutely right - the Craft didn’t find me until I was in my early 40s (I am 53 now), even though I had known that something was ‘different’ since I was a young child. But I have absolutely no regrets and now I know I am the person I was meant to be.
I’m so glad you enjoyed my Book. Thank you so much for watching. I just want to give people the courage to live authentically as they carve their own path. Sending you my warmest wishes xxx

So this video really brought home to me that this isn’t simply a hobby. It’s really about a better honest beautiful life. There’s nothing scary about it. It’s actually very comforting. So much of it is really being kind and thoughtful to others and caring for them and for yourself. I think where I’m still getting lost is the spells. Literal me doesn’t understand how mixing a bunch of beautiful ingredients and spreading them around or whatever is done with them can manifest anything but if it makes you feel better it certainly isn’t hurting anything. I need to learn more about this. I so enjoy your videos and found your book to be charming. I look forward to more of your videos. ❤

    • @fifty-somethingwitch2406
      @fifty-somethingwitch2406  2 месяца назад +1

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head! The point I keep trying to make (in fact you will probably get sick of hearing it)is that your Craft is your own. It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. But it is meant to enhance your life, not be something that causes you more stress or anxiety. I understand what you mean about spells. I’m a very logical person and I found it hard to understand how they work. It was - and still is - a steep learning curve for me and spell work is not a massive part of my own Craft. But you’re absolutely right - if you feel that working with beautiful ingredients gives your magic an extra boost, then go right ahead! Intent is the basis of all our work. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I’ve really enjoyed your comment 🥰

Thank you for sharing! I really love how eclectic and loose your BoS is. Mine is that way, too. I had this idea in my head that it had to look a certain way, and bought a special book for it. But then I noticed I was always writing down my witchy thoughts in a little book on my altar, and came to realize that was actually my BoS! So funny how it takes us a while to figure these things out sometimes. Anyway, really love your energy -- please keep the videos coming! :)

This is so lovely. Honest and unpretentious... I'm 57, was practicing and in a ritual group in the 90s-early 2000s, and drifted away due to a lot of B. S. that can come from being in a group... but I have been drawn back, these last few years, no doubt due to my second Saturn return, and finding your voice, and others in my general age group, is so refreshing and wonderful!!

That’s such a lovely thing to say, thank you ♥️
I understand just what you mean about some of the issues within group practice. I am very lucky in that the two groups I am part of have no actual hierarchy- everyone is equal. We take turns to write and lead ritual and everyone has their own way of putting ritual together. I think that keeping the group small is key - the focus and intent stays consistent whereas in bigger groups it can become chaotic and conflicting. I’m so glad you are feeling happier now, that’s great to hear 🥰

It was lovely to see your Book of Shadows, I find it fascinating to see other people’s work - Thank you for sharing it and for showing everyone that it can be loose and ‘random’ and that it can evolve - that it doesn’t have to be highly organised to be useful or beautiful. I think sometimes people are too worried to get started or scared of where to start . You have shown you can go with the flow and create a beautiful book. I find magic in nature - thunder and lightening, in running water, and animals

Alison... Thank you for sharing your lovely Book of Shadows. I am so grateful that you constantly Express how each book of shadows, each ritual, each journey through witchcraft is your own personal journey. I am from the old school of Wicca. We had nothing but a telephone, books, & by word of mouth to learn Wicca. We did not have the luxury of printing or the internet. So the only place we could learn is by joining a Coven or going to Public Rituals or Group Sabbath's to even Connect with another person to learn. We were taught the old ways & we really didn't know what was out there. We had no choices. Our journeys were so different .Yet we worship the same things, love the same things. Believe the same things. I love it that nowadays you can do it all❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ it's all up to you what kind of witch you want to be❤

I saw the Woodland Wardens oracle cards in your altar tour & felt a strong resonance with them, so I’ve bought myself some & have drawn 2 cards that are currently on my very new, little altar.
( I know I’ve already told you this on FB🙂).
I’ve had an enjoyable hour or so selecting some books to read on Wicca & witchcraft. It actually reminded me of when I did a college project where we had to select 2 topics that we were interested in to give a talk to the rest of our group- I chose witchcraft! But I didn’t carry it further then.
I feel I’ve found it again now( or it’s found me?), whether that’s because of my life experiences I don’t know, probably. I feel that I’m wanting to tune in further to myself & my love of nature & wildlife.
I’m really enjoying your videos, you have such a warm, caring , compassionate way about you and m finding that vey comforting. Thank you 🌸. Karen x

Have you talked about your deity/goddess in more detail ? ..I've talked about my relationship with the goddess on mine so would really enjoy hearing your story if you feel happy to share, although I might find a video you have already done 😂 ...witches who share and support are really important so I'm loving your content 💐🙏 perhaps we could do a live ? 💐

That’s so lovely…thank you so much for such high praise! I am still very new to RUclips and trying to find my way. I’ve only made ten videos so far and most of those have only been in the last couple of months. I haven’t spoken about deity yet because it’s such a massively broad topic to cover. I’m sure I’ll talk about my own deities at some point but probably not for a while. Thank you very much for your kind offer and while it’s not something I’m ready for yet, who knows what the future holds? 🥰

Thank you for sharing you Book of Shadows. To be completely honest. I am terrible at journaling I buy lovely notebooks then don't want to spoil them ...😮

You are very welcome! I am nodding my head at what you’ve just said - some notebooks are a thing of beauty, far too nice to write in! 😄x

I love that image of the Greenman on the front cover and the blank page with the Cauldron and kitchen witch stuff. Do you have the etsy link for that to share with us? I also love the Woodland Wardens deck! It's a new one for me and the art is so good! xo, Aurora

I will certainly try to find them for you but I found them a long time ago - when I first started practising - and it might take me some time! I’m glad you like them and I think you would love the Woodland Wardens too ☺️

So the Green Man is from a print by an artist called Peter Williams. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find the cauldron downloads for you but if I find any similar ones I will let you know! ☺️

I really want to start a bos but I can’t write. Everyone I’ve asked says it’s better to write. I can only type and all the people I’ve asked say not writing it by hand can bring bad energy. I don’t know what to do.
Loved your video by the way.

I have to say that I disagree completely! I think that any form of writing, including typing, is absolutely fine. Even if you’ve typed it you have still written it - your words, your thoughts, your energy. Go for it and enjoy putting it together - it is just for you after all ♥️
And thank you very much 🥰

@@genderless_blob I think that’s a brilliant idea. We are modern Witches after all, we use what we’ve got! Good luck with it ♥️🌸🌼🌷

I have a question? I just watched your book recommendations video but the question did hot me till I was watching this one. Can or do you have a book or books recommendations for make your own oils and such? I'd love to know pretty please.

Good question! I don't have a book about oils as such. When I make my own oils I make them from ingredients that I've researched online and from recipes that other Witches have shared with me and I adapt them to work for me. If I do come across a good one though I will be sure to let you know! x
