How to Make a Book of Shadows WITH REMOVABLE SIGNATURES! - Junk Journal Style

- Time to make a new Junk Journal style Book of Shadows! Or a book of reflection as I like to call it. Today I share the whole process with you. From making the cover all the way to making and installing the signatures! All at lightning 5x speeds! Hope you enjoy the process!
The way I use this book is by making it ahead of time. I make removable signatures so I can use them daily in my travelers notebook, then when I fill the signatures up I put them back in this book. This is not only an amazing way to not have to carry a huge book around all the time, but it is great for archival purposes as well! This makes it super easy to fashion a book that starts on a certain date and spans until you have completed 6 signatures, then you can make another one and all the completed signatures have a home! Hope this helps you all archive your precious thoughts.

Who Am I?
Hi, I'm Marina if we've never met. I am a creative, jack of all trades, homesteading in the Inland Northwest. When I began practicing magic about 12 years ago I never imagined I would learn as much as I have. So I thought it may be helpful to share what I’ve learned with you magical folks! I also sell Washington made Beeswax Candles and Shadow Work Journals/Grimoires on my website! I hope you stick around to explore, teach, and learn about magic and sustainable living with me! Хобби
Love how you used old cereal boxes and repurposing trash. It came out so nice.
Thank you! I love working with trash! I feel like a thrifty little racoon using so much garbage lol
Omg, that staple trick and the binding inside is amazing!! This is the easiest book binding "tutorial" I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing! ❤
I'm so glad you found it valuable! I love the versatility of this style. You can make any changes you want to signatures as you go!
Hi! The last thing I put in my grimoire, my 2nd, was how I make spell-in-a-jar spells, specifically the self love one I just made. You know, with like drawings and stickers too lol I have the Antiquarian Bibliophilia sticker book. It's got some cool/funny stickers. Thanks for sharing.
Those sounds like some beautiful pages complete with those stickers (love the selection in that book!) Self love jar spell sounds like a perfect thing for this time of year :) ✨️ 💜
Yes! Removable signatures is what I've been thinking on! I'm using an old book cover though. I was taking inspiration from your traveler's notebook but it's great to see what you do here for it. I use a 'Grimoire" where I put my 'philosophy', and then a Spellbook for spells and rituals and then I use a 'Book of Shadows' for notetaking though recently I've started using a moon calendar journal as my book of shadows. I really love it cause I keep track of my magickal practice with a moon calendar and there are pages for notes for each month and I've been pasting images in it too. The last things I wrote about in it were the results of my money bowl working this week and a dream I had :) xo, Aurora
It sounds like you have a great system! I never thought about a philosophy grimoire, cause that's a huge part of my practice lol and your moon calendar journal sounds super cool!
@@ElderberrySprout Thanks! Yeah! I designed the moon calendar myself and I'm really proud of how it turned out :) It was just what I needed to keep better track of things.
You made this look effortless and approachable. Thanks so much!
Thank you! I'm so glad it feels approachable! Just dive in and have fun :) ✨️
Low Key junk witchery right here folks, love it I really do my friend. I am actually going to post a video on making my own Book of Shadows, using a well loved and well used hard covered book. I will link it when I go to make the video.
Junk witchery?! That's a great term, and that is totally a part of my practice lol
Oh my goodness, I am so glad that I found your videos...this is amazing and something I would love to make ...thank you...
You are so welcome! Im glad you you found my videos too and I hope you have fun making a magical book of your own :)
Oooooh really excited to find your channel! I love the combination of subjects you've combined, feel like your soul tribe!
Have a great day! 😊 xxx
Yay! Soul families unite! Welcome! I am so glad you're here :)
what a great video - thanks so much for sharing
Im so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!
Oooh this was so fun to watch! I recently made a tea dyed grimoire inspired by yours and haven’t been able to put it down. This is such a good idea! I have a travelers notebook but struggle with how to use it (I both love and hate the smaller signature thing). It just dawned on me that usually my book of reflections musings ends up in assorted scrappy trash notebooks, and I’m always looking for my notes. Maybe I’ll take “another page from your book” (pun slightly intended) and try this idea out.
Oh and to answer your question, the last thing I wrote about in my book of reflections (or my book for notes I’m still integrating) is my human design profile, also inspired by you. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Wow thank you so much for the heartfelt comment! I'm so glad you're finding inspiration in these videos!
I made my travelers notebook bigger than a normal one cause I struggle with the size difference too! Lol
Yay grimoires! When I made mine I couldn't stop either :) let the creative juices flow!
Isn't human design the best! Hope you're learning lots about yourself!
Absolutely love this journal, so gorgeous, very easy to follow instructions, a beautiful journal for a gift.
Glad you like it! The adaptability of the signatures would be great for a gift! I hand thought of that :)
Good tutorial, I still struggle making covers. The speed is just right for me tfs the layers look good. I so wanna make it, love removable signatures. New subscriber.
Thanks Sandra! There are a million ways to make covers and this is one of the easier ones I've done. I'm so glad you're going to stick around! Welcome :)
This is an awesome make. I love that you used part of a sheet and under dress. (I love using sheets to make clothes.)
Yay a fellow creative reuser of sheets! I sew with them alot too! They are such a great resource for all sorts of projects :)
@@ElderberrySprout, plus, there is a lot of fabric in a sheet.
Yes! And there are some really cute vintage ones out there :) yay upcycling!
Thank you so much! This video is exactly the tutorial I was looking for! I'm going to use this to make a prop for my dungeons and dragons game. Dungeons and dragons is kind of my own meditative practice in a way. Anyways I'm super excited to get started on this art project! Thank you so much!
D&D sounds like the perfect way to use a book like this! You could even have a signature that has all your cheat sheets in it! So much potential!
Nice 😮
❤️
Have you made a video about your sewing kit? It's so cute and I'd love to make one too.
That's a great idea! I actually want to make a new one! Maybe I can share the process! Thanks for the suggestion!
🌿Love the cover
❤️ThankU
Thank you! Yay green floral!
Very cool!!!!!
Thank you!
@@ElderberrySprout I love that you write inside the covers! I’m learning so much!
@truecrimepodcaster you don't have to but I like to to add another layer of intention :) glad you're feeling inspired!
I just finished a page on phoenixes & a house protection spell 🏡🧡✨
Both beautiful ideas! Yay! What kind of house protection?
@@ElderberrySprout hehe thanks! It was for a protective house glamour to sort of shroud the house while away on a road trip. Had so much fun making the page as a lot of art magick was involved in the glamour itself.
That's a really cool idea! I'm going out of town in August so I may try that!
@@ElderberrySprout oh yeah, feel free to give it a go! I found it really useful and effective! 🏡👁✨
I keep a sex log in my book of shadows
That's a great thing to keep in there! I've been tracking my cycle more this last year and libido levels changing monthly can be a very interesting thing to observe over time! I bet you're learning a lot about yourself doing that! Maybe I should try that too!
