Guy has the attitude I wish I could summon (these days!). I surfed those waves throughout the year in the 90's and had my boards shaped by Mac at Tunnel Vision (previously HIC) in Newquay - That place has long gone, so I gather. I was never all that good, but I always had a grin on my face when I was catching waves - Happy, happy days! I'm quite a long way from the waves these days but am hoping to make a few trips this year to our nearest breaks around the Scarborough area with my boy who got his first board for Christmas - I'm hoping the opportunity to further my bond with him will help me get back into it, particularly given that I've barely dusted the boards off in the last quarter of a century (Jesus....when you put it like that!!!...that's scary!) - It might not happen all that often, but just to get back in the water 5 or 6 times this year would make me happy. I must make a trip to the South-West this year....This video has helped me turn it into intention....Subscribed.
Mac shaped me a 7.3 gun in late 80's, Spyder Murphy in Durban has just copied it for me and said it was a work of art... An amazing hand shaped board... and it lives on......xx

I grew up learning to surf there in the 60s still surfing in warmer waters. Bit you guys have wet suits now, I made my own when I was eleven, a long John, the salt water melted the glue first time, effin veo stick. Daft bugga I was. Good luck everyone

I went and dislocated my elbow snowboarding a few weeks ago and its stuck at only get 15-20 degrees of movement (most people have 100-110 degrees for comparison). I'll be out the water for a while until I can get more of it back. Watching these videos and your stoke in such lovely conditions really brought a grin to my face which is an amazing antidote to my anxiety of potentially not getting my arm's range of movement back. You should team up with your pal on the beach with the mega lens and add some of his shots/shoreside videos to the mix and share advertising each others content 🙂 Big love though brother, please keep these and the stoke up high! I'm always a friendly chirpy janner in the water - stoke is the antidote to all the worlds bullshit innit ;-)

Brings back great memories of surfing there in the early 90's while traveling (I'm a kiwi). Had a wee flat in a loft above the cemetery above the golf course. Sold ice creams in a shack in town. Crazy old town back then.
I’m from Manchester and thinking about coming down to Newquay for some surfing! Used to surf back when I was a teenager but it’s been a while now… hopefully I’ll manage to catch some small waves without pissing off any locals! 🤣

@@guyleverton can I send you a sweet clip of Fistral looking like paradise the beginning Sept. There was a heat wave there, combining 3-4 feet at 13 seconds for 3 days. Amazing few days.
Live in Galway, Ireland, in the middle of the wild atlantic way but each surfing spot begins an hour north and an hour south so dont get out surfing too often. Definetely going to Cornwall for a week or so because of you 😝
