It's heartbreaking how he begged Harry to collect his memories. It was his last chance to die honored rather than disgraced after all he suffered in his life.
He also needed Harry to know he was a Horcrux so he could finally kill Voldemort

I find it so touching that even though Harry still thought Snape killed Dumbledore on purpose at this point, he can’t help but try and stop the bleeding from Snape’s throat. He’s known the guy since he was 11, and is truly his mother’s son in this scene. “Uncommonly kind”.

Snape didnt realize harry didnt want any of that and probably was just irritated and hateful of the fact that he was the product of Lily's and James love. His allegiance was always with Dumbledore and lily after voldy killed lily. Before that? Who knows. Hes very complex and I wish james lived and they mended their relationship for the greater good.
Because the book doesn't need that line. Not everything has to be spelled out. The book allows the reader to understand it for themselves, only by describing the scenario and the feelings of the characters.

I love Snape so much. The complexity of the character is astonishing. He clearly has psychological trauma from being bullied/abused in his childhood which made him cold hearted. Made him make friends with the wrong people and become a death eater. Now knowing he was in love with Lily, the internal conflict I'm sure was terrible. Harry looks like the spitting image of his childhood bully and simultaneously was the son of the only person he ever loved. Whereas I'm sure he got some form of entertainment by being mean to people, he was also forced to maintain this image of being cold hearted to appease Dumbledore's need for him to remain a double agent and in good standing with the Dark Lord. Had Professor Snape been this loving, caring and kind teacher and not who he portrayed himself to be, he wouldn't have been able to maintain his status as a death eater therefore Dumbledore would no longer have a spy. Voldemort would have seen through him in a second. There's no question to me that Snape was ultimately a good guy because what separated him from Voldemort was his ability to love and hold onto that love for "always". Severus Snape will forever be my favorite character from Harry Potter.

Right then and there, that little action by Harry shows his character. Only about an hour and a half ago, he accused Snape of being a coward and a murderer in front of the whole school. Remember that he still had immense hatred for Snape for killing Dumbeldore. This small action showcases his journey from seeking vengeance to trying to help a person who was mortally wounded and was at death's door. Harry has really matured by that time.

In reality, Snivellus is a cowardly murderer. This is because he ignored Lily's feelings, which were supposed to be important to him, and became a Death Eater, killing people until the day Lily died. In the movies yes he was his mother's son, but in the books he acted like James all the time, and when Dumbledore said his nature he meant the deeper nature, meaning you have to look really deep to see Lily in Harry, though I still say that this is a manipulative tactic of Dumbledore, he wanted to plays on snape’s sensitive chord so he stop bullying Harry, and I don't think there's any depth of Lily’s character , the sympathy that Harry shows to Snape and Voldemort because he lived his childhood without love just like them, not because he inherited this from Lily

Eyes that he loved. Not only for the color, but also the emotion behind them. Yes he looked like James most of all, but really he was his mother's son. And Rickman... he really brought Snape to life. She loved another man, he loved her. she married that man, but he never married anyone else and loved her even after she died. its the one thing that not many people can do. To be fair, the book version was just "look at me" and he died. He didnt realize until after seeing his memories that snape said that because he wanted to look into lillys eyes as he died. Snape death was less, but it made the memories part hit that much harder in the book

At this point, Harry still believed he killed Dumbledore and betrayed him, and he still showed compassion to Snape. I think this is the point when he stopped seeing just James in Harry and finally saw Lily too.
‘Look at me’ remains a powerful line from the books perhaps just as heartbreakingly and achingly powerful as ‘Always’. He was dying and in his last moments he did so looking into Lily’s eyes. Only after Harry delves into Snape’s memories did these three words make sense.
This is like a horror movie scene, you can't handle it and you cover your eyes. This is horrible. Snape did no crap to die.
You can't hate him. You can't even help this misunderstood man, you can just see him suffer and die slowly. You can also break down because of this scene.
So I raise my wand today, for Snape and Alan Rickman, crying and hoping they're fine were they are, in heaven or whatever like this.

I think another huge reason why Snape sees Lily in Harry at this moment in time finally is because all throughout the movies whenever someone talks about Lily they say how extraordinary she was as a witch but also an uncommonly and astonishingly kind one. In this moment in the film Snape knows that Harry still sees him as Dumbledores murderer yet Harry still does anything he can to try to ease Snape's passing which is very uncommonly kind... and I think its' what really broke Snape into seeing that Harry has a lot of his mother inside him, not just James.. 😢😢😢😢 You can see the pain and remorse in his face as soon as Harry tries to tend to his wounds rather than injure him further, after all their insults and hatred; imagine the feeling Snape felt knowing that Harry still would rather help than do him any harm in a completely defenseless vulnerable state. I think as soon as Snape caught Harry's eye... he saw Lily, it's the look in his eyes as he begins crying... it's so heart wrenching /.\

Sorry but why do you think that, even if Dumbledore said to Snape that Harry's nature is like Lily, I don't think he was right, I mean, he wanted Snape to stop being cruel to Harry and punish him at every opportunity
in the books Lily wasn't that sympathetic and pure person like those movies depicted her to be

on the other hand Harry's sympathy came from the life he lived, he's always sympathetic to the likes of Snape and Voldemort because their childhoods were as cruel as him, neither James nor Lily were those sympathetic people like their son, Harry lived a tragedy in his life that's why he always fell pity with the people , while his parents in the books were spoiled and they are well taken care of as a children, they didn’t show that strong sympathy like their son

I think the saddest part is that when Snape looks at Harry it's like he wants to tell him so much about why he did what he did but he knows he's about to die and has no choice but to use his tears and memories to do the explaining.
Even when he looks Harry in the eyes, it's like he need to see something familiar.
The eyes of the only one person that he truly loved in his life.
It's like he needed to see them before dying to be sure that he was not dying invade, but he was dying in the name of the love he had for lily ❤️

Something about how Harry going right to his side to try to at least stave off the bleeding really sticks out to me. Snape seems a bit taken aback at the gesture before weeping those precious tears.
I think he realizes in this moment how wrong he was about Harry. And when he says, "you have your mother's eyes", it's like he's trying to let Harry know he doesn't hate him.

Snape didnt want to acknowledge who Harry was hence “Mr.Potter”. He wanted to hate him. After all he was the child of the man who bullied him and took the girl he loved away from him. He called him arrogant and cocky and said he rivaled his father in those categories. Harry simply put was not that way at all. He was in the end a manifestation of his mothers good qualities. Snape knew this the entire time he knew Harry but accepting Harry would mean accepting the consequences of his greatest loves perceived betrayal. In his last moments of life he finally acknowledged the truth. That Harry was not his father. He was not the man he hated for so long. He was just a boy. However in the end Snape got what he wanted even if he didn’t know it. He got to raise Lily’s child. Its only right that in the end he acknowledged Lilys existance in Harry. I dont know if there was ever a better character in any film or book than Severus. The embodiment of disapproval. He masked it…to keep the boy safe. He lived with his hatred of James to save the son of the woman he loved most. Perfection in writing.

God this part ripped my heart out. Alan Rickmans performance is just spectacular. The part that always gets me is when he says “You have your mothers eyes...” Lily’s theme plays in the background was just a smart move.
It doesn't get me in the feels that Snape says "you have your Mother's eyes". It's that Snape asks Harry to look at him so he can see into Lily's eyes as he dies that wrecks me.

@@skumarghosh29read the books. The only reason Lily and James had lost their lives in the first place, was because Pettigrew had betrayed them as the secret keeper. If he'd kept the secret, Voldemort would would have never found the place where they were hidden. Only having part's of the prophecy, doesn't change that.

@@KreativeSpinnerin The reason why the Dark Lord targeted the Potter family in the first place was because Snivellus had informed the Dark Lord of a prophecy that a child from the Potter or Longbottom families would defeat the Dark Lord, and in the end Lily died. It's Snivellus' fault. Peter just tipped him off to where the Potters were hiding.
That has to be one of the best acting death scenes I've seen. Terrific acting from Alan Rickman. RIP

One of his greatest strengths
In many ways Severus Snape and Tom Riddle were two sides of the same coin.
Both were half-bloods who's parents either neglected or abandoned them, grew up in poverty but became two of the finest students to ever come from Slytherin, both were pioneers in the dark arts. It was likely that all these similarities is what allowed Voldemort to identify with Snape and put so much trust in him.
But what set them apart was the fact that Snape managed to find one true friend in his life while Voldemort could not. It makes you wonder if Voldemort was lucky enough to find Lily he could have been saved from eternal damnation, (or the reverse could have been applied to Snape had he not found Lily)
