I live in Denver and had the opportunity to see this concert for FREE through my job, but I passed it up for a reason I don't even remember. Since then I have become a huge Rush fan and it sickens me that I passed up this concert. I never did see them live, but I've seen all their concert videos many times.
Don't worry...you didn't miss much. All you need to do really to replicate the Rush concert experience is shuffle a Rush playlist and turn it up loud since Rush played 90% of their songs note for note as they appear on their albums.
@@aldesmileinc9460 however Pompeii is/was not carved out of a natural rock surrounding with every care taken to keep the area intact I have been to R R 6 times and everything is better each time !
I would have loved to have sent them! Sadly never did. Always struggled to find people who shared my music taste. And now that I have someone it's too late to see Rush and many other bands
I've been at some 7 or 8 shows in Holland, Amsterdam and mostly Rotterdam. Both 8000+ venues. Never seen less than 20% of women at those shows. Plenty of female Rush fans in the "old world", I suppose 🤣
I saw Rush twice at Fiddler's Green and always wondered if they would ever play Red Rocks. Well... wow, they did. The first time was after a long day of rain in Denver. The forecast didn't look good. The rain broke when the show started, and that was nice. I remember specifically that during 2112 there was lightning pounding the ground miles away in the background over the plains, almost choreographed with the song. The crowd was cheering with each bolt of lightning, and the guys in Rush were probably wondering why. lol It was pure natural magic.
We drove from Texas to see them here on the Time Machine tour in August of 2010. In my top five favorite shows I’ve ever seen, and arguably the best venue in North America.
Just happened by your video and just wanted to say, it brought back so many memories for me. Pre-show party and anticipation of seeing the greatest band in the world. I was fortunate enough to see them 4 times since the 80's. Don't have to tell you, it is an unforgettable experience. We miss them dearly but like 'The Professor' wrote, 'We are only immortal for a limited time'. Nobody plays like RUSH... nobody. 🎶🎸🎸🥁🎵
Beautiful Location, can't imagine how overwhelming, surreal atmosphere that marvelous place it brings. Thanx for sharing, congrats for having such sweet memories from a Rush Live Concert.🍀
Definitely a killer venue. I used to live in Southern California and when I saw the video of Sunday Bloody Sunday as a kid I told myself I would see a concert there one day. I Moved to western Colorado in 2005. I went to Red Rocks in 2010 for the 30th anniversary of British Steel. Well worth it. I saw the schedule for this season and didn’t recognize anyone 😢
My wife and got caught in traffic on 470, coming up from the Springs after work. Finally got to the venue enterance during Earthshine. Thank you for posting this!
Just watching this gets me all emotional .rush have been my life since I was 10.this is venue I always dreamed of seeing rush at nothing like this back here in the uk
Similar feelings from a fellow UK fan: my Rush baptism came as a 10 year old when my brother bought me Farewell to King's. This venue sounds & looks incredible, we are limited in the UK for such venues & the corporate creaming of inflated concert prices by every Tom, Dick & Harriet would set the costs into atmospheric levels. I can definitely say after watching various recordings at thus venue "RED ROCKS ROCK"....... bucket list any one?
The one of 2 places we didnt get to see them aside from not getting to the Gorge either. We did get to Sars, a few openers, closers and the HOF induction ceremony and 8 shows on the R40 including Tulsa opener, Lincoln, Columbus, Philly, Newark, NY MSG, KC and the LA Forum for the last show. We still hope to get to Red Rocks.
I'm going to be 66, I've been into rock and roll my whole life, seen all of the great bands (at least the ones, I thought were great, lol), in a lot of different venues. World Series of Rock, at various baseball stadiums, Super Bowl of Rock, at NFL stadiums, elaborate stage shows, even saw Foghat play, from a small boat in a river. But I can't say, that there was ever a show that I said, the venue, actually was part of the experience! I'm not much of a bucket list guy, but I may make an exception, for this venue! Not even sure, who I saw would matter.
I was very unfortunate and was late to Rush, a bit too late. Their music for me changed everything. As a guitarist I've got a new obsession for tha too. The band is far beyond "just music".
Yep...I live in Denver. Been here 30 years. Everything within 10 miles of downtown had turned into a polluted shithole. Trash, druggies, crime, sketchy people that life has chewed up and spat out everywhere you look. It's sad.
I know that place like the back of my hand. Spent many a day skipping school And climbing and drinking beer and smoking weed at red rocks. I was actually up there with a keg on March 13 1989 the day my first kid was born. I showed up at home around. 4 PM with about 25 of my closest friends in tow along with the keg and my wife was loading up in the van with her parents to go to the hospital. I did ditch the party and go to the hospital to be there when she was born. Lol
Thank you for sharing this. My best friend and I were at this show (it looks like we were a few rows down from you on the same side), and loved every second. He passed away 2 years ago, and this trip was a highlight for us. Watching this brings back fond memories.
This concert was supposed to be in June and I had tickets. I was living in Evergreen at the time and was super excited about seeing Rush for the first time as a fan since the late 70’s. But for the first time I ever heard of at Red Rocks the concert was cancelled due to thunderstorms. I traveled for work in those days so I assumed I wouldn’t get another chance and took a ticket refund. Still regret it.
I still have my UNUSED $300 brokered seventh row ticket right in front of Alex for the 2008 show they postponed because of the tornado watch which was a big mistake… They had a hair trigger because of the recent F5 up by Greeley and called the show around 10:30 in the morning if I recall correctly and by noon it was a beautiful sunny day and all of the tornado warnings and even rain and thunder shower forecast were revoked but I couldn’t make the rescheduled show. My only consolation is that I did go to 27 other shows on that tour!!
looks amazing, especially the journey in - shows you the magic of the venue unfold. was that the mothership at the end, coming to reward you all for your stalwart service?
I've owned a few DVDs of Red Rocks concerts. The audio always sounds dry as hell. I will never get to Red Rocks but my suspicion is the acoustics suck.
@@rushfanjames2112 There can be exceptions though. If you have seats closer to the front, and the audio crew knows what they are doing it can still sound great. But these days, you can afford seats up front???
Am I the only one surprised to see any females in the audience? They must have been the wives of the stage crew or something. 99.9% of women don’t listen to Rush. You can’t dance to Rush music. There’s nothing sexy about Rush music. There’s nothing sexy about the band members either. They appeal to pimple faced adolescent boys from the suburbs who like technical rock music. Rush is, or was, a great band, but they never really appealed to women. Their concerts are as much of a sausage party as Slayer. I never thought I’d be comparing those two bands in any similar way, but they do share that undeniable characteristic. Both bands were great back in the 80s, but not after. Glad I was there to catch them both at their best!! And yes, this is an awesome concert venue. My first show at Red Rocks was seeing the Allman Brothers Band on the 4th of July, 1992. Great show!! So lucky to have been there.
I went to HS in Lakewood, just a few miles from RRs. I spent more time there instead of class. The opening scene road I wiped out on a skateboard and before the 80s, the park had no gates after hours. We would steal big wheels and race them down this very road and then go party on the stage at the amphitheater.
Happy days - going to a Rush concert. Thanks for sharing!
RUSH was the band that always gave me the most joy. The joy in their music is phenomenal. Thanks for the journey.

Cheers to Moms & Rush !
I was there. Margarita Guy. Lightening storm over Denver. Bought a RUSH hoodie. So much fun!!
I lived in Evergreen Colorado and saw U2 at Red Rocks. Beautiful
I drove up there one February and got up on stage, snow everywhere just acting like an idiot playing air guitar. It was awesome.
That is the most amazing concert venue on Earth BY FAR!!!

Along with some of those ancient Greek theaters (in Greece) that are used for concertst too.
Yup!
Red Rocks and The Gorge in eastern Washington state are probably the 2 best outdoor venues for a big concert.
Been to both places, love em both 🤘🏽
Saw them 3 years later same venue, red rocks and rush were incredible.
That’s a cool little video recognizing the best ever live band in the world! 👍👏👏👏

See String Cheese or widespread panic up there. Both are hippy jam bands that have a solid fan base and red rocks vibe
I saw them a few times in the 80s. Great band.

I found rush concerts after Jerry Garcia died & felt I had a new home but now I don't have one anymore. Thanks for the memories boys!
I finally got to see the inside from different angles, thank you! Must have been an insane RUSH show!!!
Love rush. Grateful Dead were iconic Red Rocks band. Two different but incredible bands
It was a great show. Saw RUSH and YES at Red Rocks. Awesome shows...
The last time l got to see Rush, after 30 years of shows.

Earthshine? They didn’t play Earthshine on this tour. Did you go to the R30 show at Red Rocks? They played it then.
Many years ago, I thoroughly enjoyed a concert at Red Rocks by Summit Brass, featuring Doc Severinson.

Same stage where Bono was dancing with the girls in the rain in 1983...documented for posterity in film!
Wish I could've seen Rush at Red Rocks.
Well it's got Rush, and it's got red rocks. Still not what I expected.
The outdoor amphitheater shows were the best. Alpine Valley, St Paul MN state fair, Milwaukee, and R30 somewhere outside KC around Leavenworth prison
I sure wish I could have seen them there. 😢
They played as South Park’s 25th anniversary there. Wish I could’ve seen it.
Epic show. Almost as good as R30. Anyone else pissed they've been playing Pepsi Center last couple tours? Come back to Red Rocks Rush! We miss you!
THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!

Genial...gracias!
RUSH ... and everyone else.

At the venue super early yet your seats are so far back. That's sacrilege for a red rocks show.
