Just bad business . I Might rent some tho on Turo and beat the shit out of them since it seems renters gets away with everything . Cool vids , keep it up 👍
I was in a similar situation. Lost my earnings on an upcoming rental which had to be cancelled since the bad renter did not return and abandoned my car. Turo declined to compensate for the upcoming rental. They said they do not have a policy for cancelled rentals. They kept stressing though, in such cases they (** kinda do a favor **) waive off Cancellation fees on the host.
My car was stolen on turo last month. I called the cops and reported it stolen 3 hours after the renter marked the trip as complete but hadn't really returned it and the renter dodged my calls/texts for 3 hours. 2 days later they got pulled over and arrested. Told the cops they just decided to keep my car. Got the car back reeking of weed drug smells and $4000 of body damage. After two weeks of being given the run around by turo they finally offered me $1800. It took another two weeks of me threatening to sue them for them to finally offer me $3k. Still far less than the damages but I've given up on trying to get fully reimbursed.
This is a giant pain, hard to believe the person who is renting out their vehicle has to do all this work in these situations, hardly seems worth the stress
Is Kim K running a side hustle on Turo. Sounds exactly like her and even looks a little like her... vocal fry is also strong... I guess that’s an LA thing...
Vocal fry or not, she's a very well spoken young lady. I love listening to her. She's engaging, uses her tonality very well and most importantly - has valuable things to say.
Glad you got it back, more or less OK. Glad the next renter was able to get a replacement. Turo should have done more for the next guest; gess they were hoping you'd get the car ready in time.
perhaps the cars that peaple rent out on turo should be equiped with a divice that deactivates the vehicle remotely if its not returned. Its posible cuz zipcar and enterprise car share do it if your reservation overlaps and you didnt return the car the jus deactivate it.
Do you have commercial insurance for your fleet, or personal insurance. Trying to decide if I should keep my period insurance for my 4 cars or switch to commercial
OBD scan port.. I'm really glad you got your car back but I always wondered about those trackers that just plug in and because it's in a location where it is visible what are the chances that a rogue renter does just unplug it throw it out of the car.(I'm pretty sure that was a run-on sentence) I know some of these big rigs now have some really small setups that can be hidden inside the vehicle. Just thinking , but like I said glad you got your back.
It's a good concern. Fortunately, most modern vehicles make it fairly easy to install an OBD2 splitter behind the actual mounted OBD2 port, so you can put a tracker in a well-hidden location. Generally this can be done without cutting or splicing wires.
It's curious how after you started talking about pressing charges on him and his "ex girlfriend", it miraculously appeared in a spot you'd already checked..
You're probably right. What would you recommend? I think that if you're going to install a GPS tracker, pretend you're doing it stop an experienced car thief.
Really good car thiefs aren't renting the cars their stealing. Cause that's really dumb. Someone who would steal a rental car isn't likely the brightest bulb in the pack.
What Caleb said. OBD tracker will be fine. Sounds like most people stealing rentals are just druggies or people that surround themselves with dumb people. Plus, car thieves aren't going after Kia Sorrentos.
A professional car thief would not remove the OBD tracker right away, once its out of the port it sends a alert. And yes pros rent, lease, "buy" cars all the time, they use a front man, some illegal alien who will get as many cars as they can before the what ever credit or fake ID, is discovered and then back to banana land or were ever, The cars are taken to a shop were all the GPS and tracking is removed then chopped or shipped over seas with fake paperwork, And all that can happen before the car is even missed or the credit card company even realizes the theft,
Well the hum devices that she uses, still track the car for an our after it has been unplugged and it tells you if it has been unplugged, so if it gets stolen, then you can track it for an hour or know it's location that it got unplugged at, so it's way better then nothing
