We love southen Rhone wines, too! Looking forward to visiting that area when I retire. Grenache is fantastic so I wonder if you will review wines from Priorat.

Hi Peter, just want to drop in a comment to thank you for taking the time to make these videos and share your knowledge and encourage you to keep it up. Being relatively early in my wine journey, I'm getting a ton of value. Cheers!

Peter, I have so much respect for you and really enjoy your videos. Thank you so much!!! Personally, I could drink southern Rhone wines every day for the rest of my life. It's that wonderful GSM combo that allows so much playful experimentation.

Thank you Peter for bringing back my interest in wine. I lived in France for many years where I was immersed in the culture of wine, but here in the US it's a little more difficult to cut through the marketing and find good everyday wines that don't have the manufactured taste!

I love the way you present the wines! And I love the wines from the Rhône! I have travelled by car along the Rhône several times but last autumn me and my wife did a cruise on the Rhône, from the Mediterranean to Macon. Tastings at Chapoutier and Duboeuf (not Rhône, but just as interesting Beaujolais) and several other wineries. What a nice cruise!

@@MasterSommelierPeterNeptune So nice! Me and my wife will do a cruise on the Rhine in November. When we did the cruise on the Rhône there was a wine tasting competition and I happend to win! First prize a cruise for two on the Rhine from Strasbourg. One day chef Marc Haeberlin will take care of the dinner and another day there will be a wine tasting with Serge Dubs, the best sommelier in the world in 1989. We are looking forward to that. We will also have time to visit some nice restaurants in Paris.

At a time when I hear rumors of a "slow down" in wine consumption your enthusiasm is infectious. You should be a spokesperson for the wine industry.

Another great episode ! In the past few decades, I don’t think i have tasted a bad Guigal CDR. Always solid. Like you, I prefer crunchy Grenache fruit in my CDR!!

Where do you get these prices? That same Guigal is over $30 here in Canada :(

Thanks for the ongoing wine education and bottle reviews. I might have to stretch the budget to try one of these out.

Every time I watch your videos, I wish I lived closer to hi-Times. Just makes me want to go grab them and try them. Will buy these next time I am there for sure. Is it possible for you to add ageability and recommended drinking window :) Thank you!

Really enjoying these tastings. I'm preparing for the WSET Level 3, and these have helped cement the tasting structure for me. Mentioning Northern Rhone, a side note in the World Atlas of Wine sent me down a rabbit hole about Syrah from Seyssuel- would love to know your thoughts on these wines.

Should be an AOP. Was prized in ancient Rome for it wines. Most wines from there are bottles as IGP Collines Rhodaniennes. Many top producers have bought land there and are lobbying for AOP status.

Love the reference to the Phocaeans who settled in Southern France in antiquity, because I'm a history lover. Speaking of antiquity, I'm just curious, is your surname Neptune Italian or at all related to the Ancient Roman god of the sea? It's a very cool name. By the way, I know you've tasted Assyrtiko from Santorini on the channel at least once, but I would be very interested to see a more general tasting video on the wines of Greece. Thanks for the videos.

Please, if you can, show us a closeup view of the label. I would really enjoy a taste comparison between these classic Southern Rhone wines (which I love) and California Santa Barbara/Oregon Rhone blends.

Seriously. Although my videos are about positivity so I try not to be a hater. Although see my upcoming video of CA Red Blends. Pretty brutal.

I like your approach of being predominantly positive but also think that honest critical opinions are much needed and just as valuable.
