I happened to walk into my hobby store in Branford and they had the red version left. They sold out of them all in one day. I enjoy it. It’s a nice introduction to bashing.
Been saying this for a while. Traxxas's quality is above average, they're good at their business and products. But they must have no department at all responsible for painting the rig's! 😅 Besides the trail trucks, which you get in solid colour schemes, everything else is painted with some shards of black and red/blue/orange/green. 😅 It must be a cheap way to go about it. :p
@@PetrolJunkie I plan to compare them in a few days as my Mojave from just arrived yesterday! So excited. Going to run it for the first time right now.
Listen, I got all obsessed and bought all the groms. purchase a bunch of back up Diffs... they go fairly easy. Not crazy easy... but they will blow. My 5 yo and I love the groms, especially at the skate parks.
I have 5 and 7 year old boys. We would just hit some flat dirt and maybe some dirt jumps. Do you still recommend the diffs even if we aren’t hitting skate parks?
I can see this added to my mid & post-MTB ride RC quiver. I mostly bring crawlers & trail trucks but this looks like great fun and good bang for the buck. 👍🏻
Shout out to Gallimods. At first I thought these might be a better size for their min-b track, but looks ok out there on the dirt. Let’s get a Mojave Grom race day going
Got to drive one of these the other day. The Mojave Grom is HANDS DOWN BETTER then the Mini Slash! It drives better and overall just handles MUCH better! I'm selling my Mini Slash and buying one!
I don't think this specific car is going to show you what the Arrma "hype" is all about. I don't know your budget but imo I think the Kraton 4S can't be beat.
The Mojave grom is awesome I really like the blue color, wonder if they will come out with mini infraction or felony? veen waiting to see when you was going to do a vid on the Mojave grom 😁 can't wait to get one!!
It’s a nice truck but what kills it for me is the 2 in 1 receiver/esc. Why are we still putting these in hobby grade rc’s in 2024? It sucks because now if I want to change motor and esc to brushless I also have to change the radio receiver.
You have to let people know that the V2 diffs are NOT full steel gears, the 2 larger internal bevelled gears are still plastic and they strip even on the V1 stock diffs with full plastic internal gears. At least this model should have come with full steel gear diffs. I can't wait to review and test then upgrade mine though😅
I wish their next one would be an Infraction or Felony Grom. Unless the NASCAR line from Losi is being counted (hoping they’re not though), either way I’ll be grabbing one of the Losi NASCARs either way lol
i like to ask few questions. Is it good as a first time rc?and is it worth spending 200$ where i live in europe ? or should i go for something else? I mean i realy dig the looks of this.i have spend nearly week and a half just reaserching rcs and i cant decide on anything and its driving me nuts!
Nice job, again. So, is the soft rear allowing the back of the chassis to slap. and is that why we see the back end hopping off the ground? My only concern is that these still use plastic outdrives. Arrma does offer upgraded sealed diffs for $45, but they're almost always out of stock.
I installed a brushless system in mine yesterday and it pulls so hard to one side when I accelerate. I had to put the stock system back into it 😢 Still a fun lil truck but my Mini b handles sooo much better.
Looks good but are the axle stubs still plastic? Had issues with one of those causing bearings to bind on the Granite Grom. There are a few other things I wish Horizon would stop on these models though. The Smart batteries, sure it's cool but I wish they had standard balance plugs as well, I have no interest in buying another charger just for Spektrum stuff and the USB charger takes forever. The Radio needs a rework to how it handles steering trim and dual rate. the trim knob simply acts like you've turned the wheel a certain percentage so if you need a lot of trim to get the car going straight it also limits your overall steering in that direction which compounds worse if you adjust the dual rate down. Also, would be nice if they just had a separate receiver so you could swap the radio out if you wished without having to buy a new ESC. I own a lot of mini's it's getting annoying keeping track of all the radios, maybe make a cheap multi model radio for these SLT equipped models?
@ЛЬВЁНОК-б3я It is slightly smaller than 1/16 Slash so I think we could call 1/18, hence it is classified 1/18 too in shopping sites like amain. Still you know this scale things always depend from brand to brand and their marketing choices etc so it is never certain. Traxxas says rally fiesta is 1/10 too however it is more like a 1/8 for example
These Wheels, if they are available seperately. Do they fit on a Tamiya M-chassis or TT-02 for Rally :D i like the look but i#m concerned about hub clearance and size. (12mm hex is a good start).
I predict an Arrma Kraton Grom coming soon. Then an Arrma Felony Grom…. Maybe not the Felony, but I feel like there’s a Kraton Grom coming. What do you all think?
@@knotical689also had it working right for a bit but reverse wouldn’t work 60-70% of the time. Then it just stopped working the right way again. Probably will just upgrade everything for brushless
Very nice, little truck goes and handles very well and love that it stays clean inside but........there is always a but, it would be a winner if it were 1/12th scale, same car but bigger and maybe brushless but would take brushed with a 540 15t motor or 21t on 3s lipo, seems no one makes a nice 1/12 sct
Google is amazing: A coilover consists of a damper, with a coil spring encircling it. Beyond that RC companies have been using the term to describe the shocks I showed. Welcome to RC, not everything parallels full scale terminology.
@ No one else in the industry calls them coilovers when there is not threaded adjustability. If a company were to advertise “coilover” springs on a vehicle that you need to add spacers to adjust preload, they’re going to get flack for that. Sure, terminology does not transfer through scale all the time, i.e. tie rod ends versus turnbuckles. But when you’re talking about a specific technology, or a style of spring, that is almost always accounted for. Especially being that the technology is a direct reflection of the automotive version.
*partially metal geared diffs. All groms are getting a v2 of the standard diff. It features metal planetary gears but the sun gears and output cups are still plastic. The diff case is also still 2 piece so you can’t tune it with fluid like the fully metal upgrade diff. Imo for this price, with a brushed power system, we should get fully metal sealed diffs.
I just can’t like it 🤷🏼♂️ I mean for me if it’s not a pinnacle of performance 10th scale i.e. Tekno ET410.2 , or even 12 scale Losi mini B (original), or absolutely dangerous, like dangerous enough to crush a Tibia i.e. Arrma Mojave EXB or Mugen MBX8TR Eco, or even better, slice through a Femur like a GD Samurai, i.e. TLR 5T w Taylor 71 Supreme V2 or MCD RR5 Max Ultimate with MGM X3 (40Kw!!) combo… then it’s just not for me. 🤣 I’m fkn w you lol, grom isn’t for me but I’m not THAT picky

It's nice to have a sensible graphic scheme rather than the zero-effort random jagged shards of color that Traxxas puts on most everything they do.
It does look a little weird on the Traxxas cars

where did you buy it? Im from Mexicali and Im looking for a place to buy it like san diego or Yuma
The Grom series are all really good designs. There really aren’t any comparable cars on the market right now.
The slash 1/16 would be pretty comparable to this. It’s a little bigger and has a 540 motor.
